Can you tweek a 6 in cake? And what is the cost? Thanks for the idea!

By tweet do you mean decorate? If so, then yes they can do that for a 6" but there are limitations. For certain designs/decorations they may force you to size up to an 8" cake.

If you want a plain 6" vanilla or chocolate cake (other flavors cost more) without any decorations that costs $23, as reflected on the first page of this thread. Most of the decorated and customized 6" cakes I've seen on this thread have been around $50 (except the fondant ones which cost more). I think your price will really depend on the decorations.

Still hoping someone can help me out!!!

Does anyone have pix of Olaf/Frozen cakes that were ordered at WDW that they could share on here?

Please!!!!!

We just got back from a great birthday trip. I started email communications with Brian at the Contemporary about 3 weeks out. He was a peach, very responsive. I wanted Elsa and Ana (for my girls), with fresh strawberry and raspberry piles of "snowballs" in front of them, glittery if possible (Elsa-strawberries; Ana-raspberries.) I wanted chocolate cake, with chocolate mouse filling, covered with ganache. I asked for white chocolate"ice shards" behind the figure, and a snow theme, with white chocolate shaving or curls. No Olaf. No blue frosting. Banner style greeting, not on the plate. And since there were only 4 of us, I didn't want to throw away cake. We were staying at the Contmeporary, and I asked for it to be delivered to the room at 7:00 a.m., so they could have breakfast chocolate birthday cake in bed. He said he could do what I wanted, suggested a 6 inch cake. Price $110, including all.

I didn't want much, right?

Well, he really came through. Tasty and perfect in all respects. Everything was edible-- and eaten! We were able to fit the left over cake in the refrigerator in the room, where we nibbled away on it for a couple days... Until only 1 piece was left standing. We ate the last piece--all 4 together, the last day.

Worth every penny! Go Brian!

Now if someone can tell me how to post the pictures, I'll show you the results:

To post photos you'll need to upload them to a phot sharing site- I use photobucket. Then you copy the image code and paste it into your post. HTH!

Ok- so after looking for several weeks, I think I have finally decided what cake to order for my dd2 bday (turning 3 while we are there in nov). She loves frozen and Minnie, but I have finally decided to just go with the Mickey head cake ( with a bow to make it Minnie of course). But, it is such a big cake, I would like to do it early in the trip so we can eat on it all week. Most of our reservations that would work best are late in the week. So, my options are to do it at dinner on our first full park day. I love that idea, but we are eating at beaches and cream and will be getting ice cream so we won't exactly "need" cake. But really my only other option is to have it delivered to our room as a "surprise from mickey" on the first day or 2 while we are at the park, but I know that will incur some extra charges. Anyone have an opinion or suggestion.
Thanks!

I have a late Oct res at an Epcot restaurant to celebrate a milestone anniversary for my parents. I left a message with the hotline 5 weeks before my res date, saying I was interested in a Haunted Mansion theme cake (mom's favorite ride and it goes with late Oct well). I got an e-mail the next morning laying out the "basic options." The e-mail was polite and everything, but said they "strongly recommended" the walk-up basic cakes, which I said I didn't want. When I asked about something a bit more customized, they responded that a consult would take at least 7-10 business days and they still "may not have time." I said since I was so far out from my res, I was happy to wait and sent some photos and ideas (thanks dis boards!). She asked me to send photos, but again said if I wanted to just get a basic cake upon arrival, to let them know. I went ahead and sent the photos and my budget, which should get me a decent cake based on posts here. I haven't hit the 7 day mark yet so I'm still waiting, but I didn't receive an acknowledgment of receipt or even receive an e-mail back saying that the request was forwarded to the pastry chef. I understand they're busy, but so far I've just felt like they're trying to push people to the standard cakes, which can't even have a personalized message, and that this is another area where the magic is starting to disappear. I would at least like to know if my request made it to the right person. If I do manage to get the cake ordered, I'll post pics in November.

Gee, no-- absolutely no. I send emails back and forth to Brian at the Contemporary, and he was helpful and enthusiastic. The problem may be a disparity between your requested cake and your proposed budget. Custom cakes, including fondant or ganache start at about $75-80 and go up from there. There is an up-charge for character use, which may also apply to Disney park specific attraction cakes. Plus delivery and gratuity, it adds up quickly.

If not a price issue, it could be that they are trying to avoid disappointing you. If their design deviates from the picture you sent, it might ruin your whole birthday... And if it's one thing I learned, it is that every custom cake is different. When I asked about a cake, I had specific ideas, but didn't lock in any specific photo concept. Maybe they think you want an exact replica of the cakes you sent. I think you need to leave room for a little creativity, and trust them. The quality and the efforts they make sure pleasantly surprised me. Good luck!

I think it may be a difference in Chef Brian vs Epcot dining. I stated that my requests and budget were pretty flexible and I welcomed any ideas the pastry chef/team had. Anything other than a standard figure/design was met with "sorry, we can't do that." It just seemed like Epcot lacked the same enthusiasm as Chef Brian seems to have based on other experiences on the thread. Maybe the Epcot team is just overwhelmed with F&W? I don't know. I'm sure the cake will still be fine but I did stress that I'd actually prefer something a little original rather than an exact replica but there just wasn't a lot of receptiveness to going outside the box.

This is the cake Chef Brian made for my daughter's 8th birthday. We had it delivered for our dinner at CRT. I had contacted Chef Brian about 3 weeks prior to our trip. My requests were for a chocolate mini cake with white chocolate filling, decorated with purple fondant and lots of sparkle. I was more than thrilled with the result. Chef Brian definitely did an amazing job and my daughter was completely floored!!! It cost $60 plus tax and gratuity.

Where are you staying? Would you be willing to pick it up from say the Boardwalk Bakery?

1) Will the GF deliver a custom cake - i.e. vanilla with bailey mousse - to magic kingdom?
2) If not, does the contemporary have the same type of filling?

Thanks for posting a pic of your cake! Magic Kingdom custom cakes are made by the Contemporary, not the GF. They should be able to make all the same fillings as the GF.

I think having it delivered to the room will be easiest and make the most sense, if you're OK with the 18% service fee and $3 delivery charge.

Gorgeous cake.... Does this mean Chef Brian is back at Contemporary?? He made our cake Aug 2012 and it was amazing. Aug 2013 and he was gone... (Cake was great, but not as good)

Do they still do the fondant covered Mini cakes with the silver mickey stamps (I think that is what it is....)

My parents are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary at Disney and I thought that it would be a great touch.

I need a mini cake for my parents anniversary and I wanted to do a slipper for my birthday. Originally I'm thinking slipper at CRT and anniversary at O'hana but but I much prefer the Grand Floridian presentation and white cream or something instead of chocolate at CRT in the slipper, so perhaps I should get it at O'hana? I don't believe I can get it anywhere else that we are eating. That frees up CRT for my parents anniversary which is probably more fitting than O'hana?

Or
Will they do a slipper or a mini cake at BOG for a lunch FP? that may be another option

Other places we are eating, Liberty Tree Tavern (would they do a slipper here? tho it isn't my ideal place), hoop dee doo (again not ideal), Teppan Edo, San Angel, Le Cellier, 50's PrimeTime

Thanks

If I would go to the Boardwalk Bakery, and buy a cake out of the case,or maybe even a variety of different cupcakes, would they be able to put it on a plate for me and write "Happy Birthday" on the plate? or is something as small as this need to be pre ordered? Thanks for any info :)

I officially ordered the two birthday cakes for the two birthdays happening on our trip.

I orded (2) 6" cakes. One is a Star Wars themed with vanilla cake and chocolate mouse icing. The other is a Lilo & Stitch themed with chocolate cake and peanut butter cup icing. I was quoted $80 a piece for each. They will be delivered to our ADR dinner Sunday the 26th at the California Grill.

I originally wanted mini-cakes but when I was quoted $50 a piece I thought that was absurd amount of money to spend on 4 bites of cake.

After emailing the Contemporary email given in this thread and getting little to no feedback (other than I was informed no Winnie the Pooh cakes - which I learned on this thread but thought I'd still try - and I got pricing) I figured I'd call the private dining number and place my order before I got too far down the road. I left a message and was called the next day and placed my order. I emailed to confirm that I have placed my order as well and have heard nothing back... Is this little-to-no communication typical? Is the pricing quoted typical as well?

Either way I will report back with pictures and cake reviews!! 9 days to go!!!

I am staying at AKV during my stay in 3 weeks. It will be our 1st wedding anniversary and I just saw on the 1st post they do not do mini cakes is there another place I can order that will deliver a mini cake to AKV?

So I contacted the Magic Kingdom cake line for a cake at CRT. I do not want the Royal Celebration cake, but a specialty cake from Chef Brian. I got an email outlining my options and when I emailed back stating I did not want a "standard" option but a custom cake they responded that the only options were the ones outlined in the initial email. So am I really unable to get an actual custom cake at CRT or do I have to settle for the options they give me? Should I just call Private Dining at the Contemp. and give my request there? Only 17 days until I need the cake and I'm STRESSED!!!!
