Ordering a mini cake this morning for delivery to WL on Monday. Mickey-themed mini cake with just plain vanilla cake and frosting, but covered in fondant. Mickey ears on top. Welcome message on plate. I thought delivery to room would be ideal, since we're not staying CL this time and our kids are rarely ready for dessert immediately following a meal. So it will be a nice replacement snack for them on arrival night! Brian quoted $45. I know basic mini cakes are usually $35, so that was our starting budget. When we upgraded to fondant on a 6" cake earlier this year, the extra charge for fondant was $6. Not sure of the cost breakdown here, but even if it's an extra $10 for fondant, I thought that was reasonable. I will be sure to post photos and info when we return!

It is a 6" which is definitely more than enough for at least 3 people

We ordered a 6" cake for our party of seven earlier this year and had tons of leftovers!

I'm planning on ordering a mini cake to be delivered to our room at BWI for our 25th Wedding anniversary Food and Wine fest weekend in Oct. Going with just a mini because I know we will be enjoying lots of goodies at Food and Wine I'd like a white buttercream icing with silver piping accents....does anyone know if they would do silver on a minicake? I've looked at pics of the mini cakes and have only seen all white or different basic colors accents but no silver. Also would like a bottle of champagne to be chilled and waiting with cake...do I order that all from the same place or is that a separate order? Thanks

Since you are at BWI and they have in-room dining, they should be able to accommodate your request for chilled champagne. My plan is a mini-cake at BCV ordered through their private dining phone line at which I will also be requesting the champagne. I am going to try to order both the cake and bubbly with the same phone call but it may turn into two if my assumptions are incorrect.

Unfortunately, your arrival is prior to mine so you'll have to let us know how it all worked out and if it was able to accomplished via the one phone call. Good luck!

Hi! This might have already been answered, but I didn't see it in the pages I looked at! We are celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday at CRT (on her actual birthday!) - I contacted the special events people for information about the Her Royal Highness package, so I do have that. However, my daughter is mostly interested in the frosting on cake, and the one that comes with the package is fondant covered, so I'm not sure she will be particularly interested (and I would like her to be if I'm paying that much!!). So, my question is - do you know if you're able to order a different kind of cake and have it delivered to CRT, or can it only be the cake from the package? Thank you!!!

It goes on your room bill, along with a $3 delivery fee and 18% gratuity.

When I ordered one earlier this week for in room delivery, they took a CC number and said I'd be charged the day of delivery (to the card).

Okay their customer service is INCREDIBLE, not that I am surprised. I had been emailing with Chef Brian and after we settled on a design he told me this morning to call to order, I hadn't gotten around to it yet today when we get a phone call from the Contemporary they were calling to help me order the cake.

How awesome is that. I didn't know what cake flavor or filling to order so I got Vanilla cake with Strawberry cream filling, our little guy is a strawberry FREAK he can eat a whole pint in a sitting, is the strawberry filling good?

I am so excited.

My experience ordering this morning was consistent with lurkyloo's post - they said it would be added to our room charges. They did not mention gratuities and delivery fee, but I'm assuming that will happen. We tip the server on a cake delivered to a restaurant, so for most guests it seems like a wash. For us, the room delivery will be a bit more because I'm guessing we can't use TIW like we could at a TS.

I am taking my son to Disney for his 10th birthday. On the day of his birthday, we have brunch at Chef Mickey's and dinner at Chefs de France. I have never ordered a cake at Disney before but want something special but not huge as it is just 2 of us. Are the cakes at Chefs de France really boring? Should I just get a mini cake for brunch at Chef Mickey's? Or maybe send one to our room for when we return from the parks. We are staying at Pop. Anyone have any experience with cakes there? Any and all suggestions helpful. Thanks!

Here's the cake I ordered for my sister @TinkLoverSam ans her hubby. It was an 8" cake with marble cake and Bavarian cream with fresh raspberry filling. It was delicious! I asked for a beauty and the beast theme with minimal yellow and told them it had to have red roses. I provided the topper. Not bad for $56 (actually it was amazing I was willing to pay up to $150) to get the cake I wanted for them.

Wanted to share my cake from Tues. I worked w/ Chef Brian this time from the Contemporary. The only time I wasn't happy was when I worked w/ someone else from there. I of course forgot to order before we left. I was so upset w/ myself. I sent an email late on the 30th and heard back on the 31st but didn't get it finalized til the 1st. He said they need 72 hrs for a custom cake order. I was ok w/ that (& understand) but for the 1st time wasn't able to place my order right away. No one answered! After trying all afternoon nothing. I did leave a message and my call phone number. They called the room after the stated closing time. They didn't call my cell number. So it was yet another day before I could place my order. They seemed to think it maybe done that day or the next. I did NOT expect that. I just wanted it delivered to our room as soon as it was ready. We got it Tues, which was fine. They forgot to include a cake sliver/server or knife. Only forks. So messy slicing. We had plenty of time to enjoy it. It was PERFECT! We were married at t he Poly 15 yrs ago so I wanted a simple tropical theme. Brian did another amazing job!

So, we popped into the GF yesterday (literally) for a late breakfast at 1900 PF. We were driving back home (Ft Lauderdale area to Houston, TX area), but I wanted a bday meal at WDW along with a custom cake. As I noted in a previous post, I had a really good experience with Pat this time. She did put me into a bit of a panic last Friday (during a follow up call) over my older daughter's nut allergies. We've never had issues when ordering through the Contemporary, and I thought they all used the same brands/products/recipes, but apparently their fondant- among other things- has cross contamination issues beyond any risk in the kitchen. I knew the white chocolate was a risk, but we've never been alerted to any issues with the fondant before this cake. I only know of 2 commercial brands that carry a nut warning and those are Wilton and Carma Massa Ticino Tropic. So, I'm guessing they use one of these two. While the call was frustrating, I appreciate Pat taking this effort because obviously, we don't want a serious allergic reaction on our hands. We still went ahead with the cake and my daughter ate other things.

The cake is a 6" chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse and fresh raspberry filling. They used a combo of chocolate and vanilla buttercream to affix the fondant. The sparkly swirls on top appear to have been made of white chocolate. The cake was $71...would have been $65 if I hadn't gone for fresh fruit in the filling. I just told Pat that I wanted a Cheshire Cat striped cake with a 2D edible image of him on top and left the design/details to them. Kind of refreshing since I normally have detailed sketches. This definitely was one of our fave WDW cakes. We even boxed up the leftovers and they made it all the way home. We've had cake twice today and have more leftover for tomorrow

Is the gratuity and delivery charge always added? I wasn't sure if I should leave tip money in an envelope for delivery or not? Thoughts? I want to have the cake delivered to our room while we're in the park and I want it to be a surprise for DH as well.

If you're at a resort that has Private Dining, they automatically add the service fee and gratuity. Anyplace else you can try leaving tip money and hope they are allowed to accept it...
