All these years at WDW and I always saw hidden mickeys never taking too much account of where they were just thinking they were little treasures left for us overly observant dis'ers. I never KNEW that people were so interested in them. My DS (8) has been to wdw more than a kid should get to go apparently since we spent the entire star wars weekend begging to go back to the hotel pool (yes, it was CSR!!) so this next vacation (the ruck family's not so scary halloween vacation 3) I intend to let him and his digital document some hidden mickeys. He is actually the one who pointed out to me that ppl hunt for them. He was stoked and insisted we google it at once. Do you think we should use a guide to give us clues as to where to look or would it be much more fun to just "discover" them? I am thinking the latter.

The latter for sure. However when you have exhausted your eyes looking for them with only the help of the DIS and word of mouth.... a guide is the best option

I would Strongly suggest the guide. There are a LOT of HMs that you will be able to find by just looking - but there are EVEN MORE that you will not be able to find by just looking! I have used both versions of the HM Book and loved them both - and by finding the ones in the books, I think you learn to search better. Because the book has kinda taught me what to look for - Now I can "see" new ones easier!
Tiki Room Fan - I love the Tonka Truck HM! It took me a minute to figure it out, but I think it's really cool!
Staying at DTD - Here's one from the Villains' Room of the World of Disney:
Here's a couple I took last night. The dial up internet at POFQ is extremely slow so I can't really post too many pics until I get back home on my DSL.
This one is from the Polynesian.
This one is from Canada at Epcot. Kinda hard to see in the picture.
I'm looking right now at the official guide and it describes a HM in Canada
"Past the steps into the pavillion, the left totem pole has black classic Mickeys on both sides near the top of the Raven's neck"
Its hard to tell from the picture if this is the HM the guide refers to but it seems like it probably is.
Speaking of HMs in the World Showcase, there is allegedly one in Germany in the miniature train area. There is a little mickey figurine in one of the balcony's (it moves location by the way) but the book describes some that are "just the top of the head with ears" that can be found in "both the frieze above the church entrance door that faces the small plaza and above the small windows at the rear of the church".
Since I have no idea what a frieze even is... I can never find these. If anyone has a picture or more details then I would be much obliged.
I have not seen the Mickeys in the Miniature setup - but I do have another one from Germany! It's on the King's Crown - My picture is a little far away - so I added a close up one - sorry it's so pixellated!
Yes i've seen the one in the castle, and thats actually not the only location I have seen it in either!!! But, I was saying though in response to an earlier post that the Hidden Mickey Field Guide describes another one or multiple ones of the same kind that I haven't ever found.
On my last trip we were waiting in line to get Tigger's autograph, I turned around and up in the sky was a hidden mickey!!! The clouds formed a standard Mickey head. I shouted about it and took my camera out - everyone else in line started taking pictures; until it eventually drifted apart.
