Official DEXTER Fan Thread

There used to be but I think it fell by the wayside after last season ended.

Maybe this can be the new & improved Dexter thread!!

DH and I missed out on Dexter before, so we just started watching it on DVD. We've only seen 2 episodes so far but we're really enjoying it.

Is this official now???

Can someone explain this to me?

I have never seen it.

It started out as a Showtime show didn't it? So, is it still a Showtime show or only network now? It is the same? I know when they showed Six Feet Under on A&E they had to cut a lot because of commercials and it lost something in the cutting.

Is the network up to where the Showtime was or is Showtime further along?

Can I watch now or do I really need to see it from the beginning?

Thanks,

Dawn

I missed it the first time around, too. DH talked me into watching it on demand when I was out of work for surgery. I watched both seasons within 2 weeks! :woohoo:

I am completely hooked!!!!

The new season has started off GREAT! The only thing that bugs me is the facial hair on Jimmy Smits :scared: .

Dexter started on Showtime. I believe due to the writer's strike and CBS's need for new programming they brought it for a time to CBS and replayed the first season. Dexter started their 3rd season last week. ( )

It is a very dark show, with tons of dark humor. I love it, but it goes places a normal show wouldn't dare. Maybe that's why I adore it so much. If you want a bit of a primer, check out the books. The show for the first season stays pretty true to the book with a few minor exceptions, but it is a good take off.

If you're interested in what the plot is, basically, Dexter is a serial killer. However, he only kills people he knows to be murderers who have evaded capture by the cops. He works as a blood splatter analyst for the Miami PD, and as such has access to everything he needs to investigate potential murderers/victims, and to cover up his crimes.

He's also a really nice guy who is a considerate boyfriend, a thoughtful brother, and very good at his job. The problem is, it's all fake to him.

And with that explanation above, you can probably start watching it now. They do pretty good recaps of previous episodes anyways.

If you have Showtime on demand both Season 1 and 2 are there. At the end of Season 2 things were pretty much wrapped-up. So, I think you could jump in now and figure out what is going on. A whole new story line has started. :goodvibes

hmmm ok well I guess since it's the official Season 3 thread I'll have to stay out cause I don't want to get spoilers and we're only on episode 2 of season 1.

Another point in Dexter's background that is important is that, as a baby, he witnessed his mother being slaughtered in (I beleive) a botched drug deal. He sat in a pool of her blood until Harry Morgan, a police officer, rescued him & adopted him. As a result of the trauma he experienced, Dexter was obsessed with killing as a child, so Harry helped him control his urge to kill but as Dexter got older Harry suggested killing those who have eluded the criminal justice system.

 Come back when you catch up!!!! :goodvibes

Has Deborah's character changed some this season? I've always found her annoying in the past, but this season I'm really liking her. :confused3

One more question....
How long do you think the Jimmy Smits character will last? I figure he has the rest of the season before Dex has to take him out.

I wish I could be in!! I just finished the 2nd season, but we dont have Showtime, so I will have to wait until Netflix has Season 3 out next year!! I LOVE this show!!! Season 2 was great!

My husband would be glad is she has changed some. He thinks she is so annoying.

Is it on the network at all this year? I don't have showtime. Ive really been hoping it would be back on. Dang.
