***Official December 2017 thread!

Hi! I am trying to decide between 11/25-12/2 or 12/2-12/9. Does anyone have an idea of which week will be less crowded? I am traveling with my husband, in-laws and my daughter who will be 2 on 12/4. We haven't decided if we're driving or flying yet, but if we fly it would make sense to go the week before she turns 2 while she's free :) I will gladly drive though if the first week of December has much lower crowds.

Thought you might want to know that your daughter will be free even if she's 2. Children are free up to age 3, and if you do any sit down buffets she will be free there too. :)

I don't know about anyone else but I finally started the real planning this week. I now have a spreadsheet going with estimated hours (using last years hours) and figured out which park to go to on which day and what restaurants I want to go to. I will of course make changes once the official hours come out but I couldn't wait any longer to do something! :teeth:

It's busy season at my work but as soon as things calm down I'm doing this. What did you decide on?

Does anyone know what time the castle projection show will be the week of December 2nd? My daughter will be 2 while we're there and is used to a 7:30 bedtime. I'd love to see Rivers of Light and Fantasmic as well, but I don't want to keep her out too late.

That's exciting! I'm planning on working on a spreadsheet soon as well. Did you make one yourself, or did you find a template online?

You're choosing between the two best weeks of the year. I went this past December from the 3rd to the 8th and people said it was just like the week before only with a few more high school football players, because of Pop Warner. Either week will be amazing!

I have looked and cannot find a December 2017 thread. If it is there and I missed it please let me know as I do not want to recreate the wheel.

If this is going to be the December 2017 thread please join me and together we can plan, share information, and complain about the number of days we have to wait.

I am from the Midwest and due to changes in my life have not been to WDW for a number of years. Really looking forward to planning this vacation and making it my best one yet!!

Who is with me? When do you plan to be in the parks?

Me I will be there the 9th through the 19th.

My family (DH, 5yo son, 2yo daughter) are going to WDW for the first time Dec 18-22. I am more excited about this than the family reunion we're doing Dec 23-30 on a Caribbean cruise! Has anyone gone during this time? How bad do you think crowds/lineups will be?

Last we went the 16th-22nd and found it to be great! The previous year we went the 15-22st and it was awful, horrible crowds. But last year seemed way more manageable, still crowded but not crazy. We've moved our dates up a bit this year for other reasons but would totally do your dates again! Who knows what the crowds will be this year but I would feel good with your dates as long as you go in knowing it could be a little crazy crowd wise but just know what you want plan wise and do your thing!

Thanks!! I'm hoping it will not be too bad, but I'm too excited to really care too much and I know it will be amazing even if we can't do everything! I already planned out a tentative itinerary and ADRs, even though I know I'll have to change it once park hours are published! :)

Joining in! We're going on a short trip just to finally see Disney all decked out for Christmas AND to celebrate my mom's 75th birthday! She loves Christmas AND Disney World, so what better way to celebrate? So we'll be spending three nights at the Villas at Grand Floridian, December 17-20. Priorities are eating at some nice restaurants, doing some shopping at the Grand, on Main Street, and around the World Showcase, Candlelight Processional, doing some resort hopping, watching the Holiday Wishes fireworks (MVMCP night) from outside of the park, and basically catching any Christmasy entertainment we can (Main St. Philharmonic, Trolley Show, Dapper Dans, various storytellers and performers around World Showcase, etc.) We might hit Senses or Ivy Trellis for some pampering too. And tea! Must have tea at the Grand.

I've loved reading through this thread! It's gotten me very excited! Tomorrow I'm 100 days away from making ADRs LOL!!

You'll have a great trip! This our fourth time going in December, as long as you go in knowing you might miss a couple things here or there and don't let the crowds bother you, you'll be fine! And the weather is great as well!

It's busy season at my work but as soon as things calm down I'm doing this. What did you decide on?

Here's what I have tentatively scheduled so far:

Nov 29 - Arrive (driving) maybe hit Disney Springs depending on when we get there otherwise just stay at the resort
Nov 30 - EP concentrating on Future World either Akershus or Garden Grill for lunch
Dec 1 - MK with 1900 Park Fare for dinner
Dec 2 - AK
Dec 3 - MK with Crystal Palace for breakfast and attending the Christmas party that night
Dec 4 - Rest day to sleep in, visit resorts to see decorations and maybe hit Disney Springs
Dec 5 - AK
Dec 6 - Epcot concentrating on WS with Bon Voyage Breakfast (and hopefully can get Candlelight package)
Dec 7 - HS with Hollywood & Vine dinner
Dec 8 - MK with Be Our Guest Dinner
Dec 9 - Head home

I'm toying with adding a Tusker House ROL package.
I'm not sure how set I am with all of this but this is the version that I like the best so far.
