**Official December 2010 Thread!!** - PART 2!

Wind chill of 22 degrees here in Dallas this morning. SO ready to go to warmer weather. I sure hope the temperatures stay up. When we went in January it was 25-30 degrees some mornings.

Scored at Dollar Tree yesterday! Found lots of Disney things for our road trip:

  • Velvet art poster with markers (one Mickey one Minnie)
  • stamp activity set (stamps, stamp pad, stickers and printed pages) (Cars and Pooh)
  • chalkboards with chalk and erasers (Pooh and M's Clubhouse)
  • picture books (Pooh and Mickey)
I'm planning on putting them in gift bags and letting the kids open one every 100 miles. (I need to go get more, though, because we have 1100 miles!)

I also found glow sticks for the night time parades and bubbles for the rest stops.

Getting excited!

Wow, here in Houston we have about 44 degrees this morning, woke up to the cold (yes, that is cold for a Houston girl)! I plan to make one last run to the dollar store today, hope to get some goodies! Only 12 days to go here...

10 years ago we had a storm that dumped 30 inches on us. Work was closed for 2 weeks! :lmao: I can't imagine getting that much snow all the time.

Where are you located? I'm up here between Hanging Rock and Pilot Mountain.:wave2:

You guys shut down when there is a couple inches ;) All my friends that went/go to college in NC and SC used to laugh when everything would shut down and people would be outside sledding in an inch of snow.

Are you kidding! Our local schools will shut down if there's even a thought of snow! Mainly because we get more ice than snow and it's for safety reasons, but I still laugh when the whole town shuts down for 2 inches!!!:rolleyes1
I'm from South Miami and I drive better in the snow than the locals!:goodvibes

Just a little over 8 days to go for our Mother/daughter trip!!!! I'm exciting and DD and I countdown every morning when I wake her for school. Unfortunately its her only motivation these days to wake up to go. I guess she guets not bbeing a morning person from her mama... anyway, I wanted to know if anyone could point me to the reservation issue thread?? Or at least the forum its in? I checked around and can't find it. I think I will follow all of your advice and make sure I keep printed copies of all of our reservations. I haven't read it yet but it sounds like no fun if they can't find it.
See post #1409 on this thread; it has the link.

Next week at this time, we'll be on our way to the airport! Then picking up a rental car, stopping at a grocery store, checking into CSR and heading to DHS for our 7:30 dinner at Prime Time!

Here's hoping I pass my exam on Wednesday and don't have to worry about taking it again! :worship:

Well I have decided I am most likely going to have to wait to do the old fashioned way of checking in! Have tried for several days and several times to do online checkin with no luck. Oh well as long as I am at disney and on vacation it really doesn't matter how I get checked in. I have called and made requests for grandson's birthday etc..

Hope everyone currently at the most magical place on earth is having a perfect holiday/December experience. Oh it is looking like the week we will be there will be good weather wise! I am hoping with fingers crossed!!!

I actually called direct into the Contemporary (we're staying at BLT) and checked in over the phone.... I did my room request too and the CM was super nice; said it was all taken care of just like the on-line system would've checked me in:goodvibes. I tried for 2 days to do the on-line check-in and it never worked for me.

Great tip! I will try calling my resort directly. Thanks!

I couldn't get my Wishes Dessert party to come up either until I realized that when I made reservations online I used my cell phone number, but when I called and reserved party, I used home number. Using home number and reservation number I was able to find my reservation with no problem.

Duh! I hadn't even thought of that! I managed to get my CPP package and CRT, but I don't have the confirmation number for the dessert party on hand so that will have to wait till later! Thanks so much!

You don't live far from me. I live in Corinth, 10 minutes up the road. Howdy neighbor. :)

Thanks to the member who gave the tip about just calling the resort direct to check in if online check in doesn't work. I'll have to remember to do that.

Glad I could help...that's pretty much how I felt when I finally realized that I just needed to put in home phone! Can't believe I'll be in WDW in 4 days!

:sad1: i went to pick up my mother on monday for her
two doctor appointments and while i was clearing out the passenger seat, i heard her yelp. she blacked out and fell through the front door and rolled off of our porch falling three feet. I rushed her to the ER. first they thought she had several mini strokes, then they thought it was her heart failure. AFTER SEVEN DAYS of watching my mother struggle through severe pain they have FINALLY determined the cause of all the pain and decrease in bp--HER GALLBLADDER. it is TWICE the size, where it is normally posterior to the liver is now extended infront--where you can feel it thru her skin. not only does she suffer from CHF and diabetes, she is going thru this :sad2: :sad1: i have spent nearly 14 hours each day next to my mother and i am only 21. i am a full time student and desk clerk. we originally wanted to go last august, but couldn't afford it.

so we have been planning and planning for our december trip. i have hounded the site for ADRs. and we finally got all of our desired restaurants. we are to leave in a week, next sunday. my mom has insisted i don't cancel until the very last minute. and it kills me to think realistically that i will have to :sad1:

for anyone that dislikes personal situations on this thread- i would never wish this on ANYONE. i just needed to type it all out, and get any support i can.

thank you:hug:

Im so sorry to hear that! Is she getting it out? If so how? I just had it taken out it June and the day of and after the surg was horrible for me but i was up fine the 3rd day and back to work (coaching gymnastics) in 6 days so depending on what they are doing you may be ok! I would get a wheel chair either way since she may feel weak.

we are buying a wheel chair for her because of her CHF, so we had that down

but, her heart is too weak to remove it because she is not a candidate for the surgery. they wanted to drain the bile, but now they said they must wait for any thing to happen. idk whyyyy :sad2: :sad1:

my mom and i were just on the phone and she joked about how in a week she'd be watching me eat tiramisu at mama melrose's while she ate a fruit plate  for a hospital patient, my mom still has her spunk. i hope it carries her through

thank you for your words of encouragement, though

We leave tomorrow! Kids still don't know--we are telling them in the morning. Around this time tomorrow, we will be landing at MCO :) Got our online check-in done for Southwest, and we are A33-37, so I'm super happy about that!!! We'll pretty much have our choice of seats. I'm hoping the flight isn't full. Right now I'm downloading movies/shows to my Ipod for the kiddos, and making them take a nap LOL. SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!

5 days! I started pulling stuff out to pack today. DH isn't cooperating though. He likes to wait until the last minute. He'd be happy packing at 6am Friday morning!

So sorry to hear about what has happened! I hope your mom continues to improve and that things will get better for her and for you soon! Sending a little pixie dust your way! :wizard:

Stuffed with Fluff, I'm so sorry for all the problems you and your mother are going through. Yes, you are under a heavy burden for a 21 year-old. Does your mom have insurance that will cover her if she needs medical care while at WDW if you do both manage to make it there? That's what I would really be concerned about.

My DH has been fighting vertigo since the beginning of July and has been hospitalized twice but is finally doing better. We have a scooter rental lined up and will have to decide by Thursday if we want to make the payment to confirm the reservation for the scooter.

Here's a :grouphug: for you and a liberal sprinkling of pixiedust:pixiedust:
