**Official December 2010 Thread!!** - PART 2!

I'm still here :)

11 days

I finished up my class this morning so between now and the day before we leave I'll be getting Disney things taken care of :)

I online check in tomorrow :santa:

Well this time next week we'll be some where over Kentucky.:yay:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good weather here so our plane leaves on time. Right now they are calling for snow showers next Sunday and we're supposed to get 4-6" today.

We're here now & having a great time! It seems that we all caught a cold on the trip down, but just some runny noses so nothing major! We are drinking lots of OJ & taking medicine. The weather has been pretty nice so far, not hot and not terribly cold at nights & mornings. It is supposed to get chilly & windy tomorrow.

We missed our first adr because somehow I had it in my head that it was at 745pm. Yep, it was at 7! So we won't be trying Via Napoli on this trip. We did have a great breakast at Cape May and wonderful dinner at Kona! DH is playing golf this morning so we have been hanging out at the resort. Big plans to see Osborne lights tonight & dinner at 50s Prime Time!

AND I was so excited when we I found the lime green mickey head scarf in Everything Pop!! It was sold out online before we arrived.

I have a last minute trip to Orlando for December 28-Jan 3 for the Capital One Bowl. We are staying with family near Cocoa Beach and have one full park day on the 2nd.

Online check-in is done! I have a conference tomorrow, then 6 more days of teaching, two DD basketball games and one game at which I'm running the 50/50 raffle for the theatre department, one faculty meeting, one EST meeting - then I'm DONE! House is decorated, outside lights up and on a timer, packing is progressing (constantly changing due to updated weather reports) and starting to feel that relaxation already!!! I plan on showing a movie to my class next Monday and Tuesday before break (in French, of course!) because my students are NEVER focused two days before the break! ;) I hope everyone has safe travels who are leaving soon!!!!! Can't wait to get down there!

Just found this thread. We leave this Saturday!!!:woohoo:
First time in 15 years for hubby & I (our kiddos first time.) We're driving. Definitely packing layers. Santa just surprised the kids yesterday. Soo exciting. I plan on living on disboards all week to soak up the great advice. Hope I don't forget anything...

That's awesome! Have a wonderful time!!!!

Sounds like my week, but I only have 4 1/2 more days of teaching! Got my on line check-in done, Boy Scout meeting, but NO faculty meeting!

I've no idea what I'm teaching this week. The lesson I had plan fizzled because I learned the site was blocked for students. (elfyourself dot com) (I'm a computer teacher)

Decided on the packing - athletic pants/jeans and short sleeved shirts. Along with hoodies and coats just in case.

Wow! You guys are out after this week? That's awesome!!! I feel rather mean because I'm giving two quizzes and a unit exam this week, but if I don't, then they have to have them when they get back in January and there's no way they'll do well! So my deal was we push through this week, then they get movies Monday and Tuesday! Of course, they'll be French movies - I can't just NOT teach them SOMETHING - as much as they'd love me to show them something in English - NOT going to happen! :rotfl:

...enjoying our full bullies from the GF Tea and nshingon goodies at the Poly CL! Oh...and drinking up gallons of the punch-YUM!

Handwarmers AND footwarmers were bought today.
Water-repellant spray for my new Bearpaws bought today.
Cheapo fleece blanket to sit on or cuddle with bought today.
Bought Mockingjay (Hunger Games series...love it!!!) to read on plane.

I still need to wrap a few gifts (we come home the 26th and are going straight to my parents' house for "Christmas") before we leave.

I'm planning on cold weather just like everyone else. BUT I'm also packing 2 tank-tops just in case (almost like I'm willing the weather to be balmy). Need to put my Garden Grocer order in and finish packing then I'm all set! :santa:

YUM!!! Love that rum punch at the Poly CL! That's a good idea about the fleece blanket - thanks for that! I have to wrap pressies too and I HATE wrapping - gives me a headache!

Doing laundry and packing now! So much fun, I know friday will be here soon... I redid my park days today, had to flip around some ADRs, but I think my new plan looks better. But sadly I won't get to try Liberty Tree Tavern, maybe next time!

Have fun! PACK WARM!!!!

We were not overly impressed with LTT. Im sure everything will be good!

Having fun reading the responses. I'm a teacher too! I guess that makes sense on a December vacation thread, since we get a winter break. I was married at Disney in June 1995. I've never been there around the holidays. I'm so excited! I do really hope that the temps are average next week (instead of 40 with rain- yikes!) But since we are driving, I can just pack half my wardrobe.

Oh that sucks! I've read of a bunch of stories just like that. People's room keys not working, DDP going missing from them, and all kinds of things. Made me glad we bought tickets for the kids from UCT and we have APs but I am nervous about the DDP.

Well did you atleast have fun? Where did you stay again?

Yes we did have a great time and some really good food! We stayed at SSR. Our DVC home resort.

Enjoy you trip!!!:goodvibes

What do you teach? My students are pretty sick of me talking about Disney World all the time, and hearing the music, reading the park maps in French, etc. However, my junior class students want me to take them next year for their senior class trip! I think I may have gotten to them! :rotfl:

We changed our adr's again. We cancelled Sci-Fi for 12/20 and moved tutto italia from 12/20 to 12/22 at 12:30. We also added the candelight processional package for chefs de france at 2:00 on 12/20 and boma for 8:25 am on12/20.

I sooooo can't wait until friday! Just have finals this week. I had to reschedule mon. and tues. finals to wed. and thurs. because we will be in the Happiest Place On Earth!!!

Hi All! We just got to our room from spending a few hours in the Magic Kingdom. So far, the foot is holding up.

When we arrived, the crowds were thinning out for the lunch break and the rain that moved in. We did the People Mover, Carousel of Progress, the Laugh Floor, Space Mountain and Space Ranger Spin. We did get a fast pass for SRS but I don't think we really needed it as the lines for the rides we did were all about 20 minutes and they went really fast.

The rain was light and the air was cool but a little windy. I just had a light fleece jacket and DH had a flannel shirt. We didn't bother with rain gear and we didn't get that wet. The rain stopped after a couple of hours. I think it's suppose to be much colder tomorrow. We'll see what type of clothing we're going to need.

Our not so magical moments involved checking in. We did the on line check in but we had a slow check in at the front desk any way. The woman helping us didn't get our request right and we had to get someone to fix that as well as having us somewhat near our friends who are joining us tomorrow. When we finally got to the room, they still got it wrong so they may change us tomorrow... fingers crossed. Also, we got a complimentary champagne toast, yet they were out of champagne, so we'll have to check back with them later as well.

Our magical moments involved wearing our anniversary buttons and receiving many greetings throughout the park from CMs and guests alike. We took the ferry over to the MK and had the upper deck to ourselves with only one other couple. For no reason at all, other than I was just happy to be here, my DH and I started slow dancing to the music that played in our own heads. We got smiles from the other couple, but we were in our own world at that moment! I am lucky that my DH can be such a romantic at times. We are having a great time so far and I'm hoping the rest of the week goes just as well as today did.

Oh, we do have the free dining plan, but haven't even used it yet. We left the park after spending just about 4 hours there and went to eat at Joe's Crab Shack. We had a wonderful and filling meal! We will start using our plan tomorrow... hopefully without any difficulties.

Looking forward to meeting some Dis friends on the 14th. Wishing everyone safe travels!
