Official December 2008

Hey guys, Im in need of your help!
WE fly in earlier now-11am. I am wondering what we should do?? We originally weren't scheduled to arrive until 6pmish.
So I figure it would be nice to schedule a nice dinner some place. We really wanted the California Grill (well DH mentioned it and I was going to surprise him with it...but it seems expensive and there isn't a huge variety that we would hugely enjoy (we aren't picky eaters at all..but at that price we would be!) IF it were only one table service credit I would be alright. I wouldn't care. But 2 is a huge sacrifice for me.

Then I thought, well maybe Libery Tree Tavern. Looks like something DH would enjoy (food wise esp). They are booked solid.

I had thought perhaps it would be best to go and see the Osborne Lights at HOllywood studios as something to do (which would mean we would have to eat there...or a resort, we have base tickets). As much as DH would enjoy a turkey leg, we will be very hungry. Unless we eat at Coronado (where we are staying) when we arrive. Then we won't be starving later on. Oh my!
We already have ADR's for Hollywood Studios another day for the Hollywood and Vine...and then that evening we will eat at Pizza Planet.

We have a full day in each park. That being said, We have extra half a day already in Epcot. Since Hollywood studios is very scheduled out, I feel as though we will miss a couple things (and shows) so extra time there would be nice.

Humdiddly dum.

We will be at Pop from Dec. 15-20th! I sooo cannot wait!

Honeystar-I would say that if you REALLY wanted to do LTT, keep trying to get a reservation, there are always cancellations for things. Otherwise, I say eat at Coronado and do DHS, since it sounds like you really would like more time there anyway. IMO!

Personally i would definately do the Osbourne lights - they're supposed to be really good. if it was me and i had the time i would do a bit of DTD first. I love the atmosphere there. Maybe just eat at Earl of Sandwich on one of the outside tables (i'm excited just thinking about it!!) it's lovely. Have a wander round with a drink or get a sundae at Ghiradelli's. Then i would hit Hollywood Studios

Hmm That might be a good idea as well. We were going DTD the day before we fly out. It is sort of a whatever day. But it would be nice to buy some things...if we wanted tshirts or whatever. Get the kids a little something.

DH just wants to wing it. But if we are starving we will be cranky. Cranky McIntosh's are not happy McIntosh's. lol I have heard good things of Earl of Sandwich. I was planning on Wolf Gang Pucks on Day 5...but wanted to try the Earl of S. Too. Also, we will have a voucher for Planet Hollywood. I only mention them because we dont have any up here, and we have never been to one. BUt is the food good? Something that if you have never done it, you should?

I was looking at Chef mickey's as well... looked great! And of course... nothing available. I don't even mind making a rez, and then canceling it when we get there if we decided to do something else. I just want a couple ideas to chose from and not having to think it all through. Just pick one scenario or the other. kwim? NO stress, no thinking, just going with the flow of the schedule and our desires. lol (do those 2 mix??)

I have to say i love me some Earl of Sandwich!!! We'd not tried it before our last trip and we ended up eating there about 3 times!! Yummy!!! I like sitting outside as there is a nice view of the lake - it's quite blissfull, even when the place is crazy!! We had dinner in Wolfgang Pucks - but in the sit down one over in West Side DTD near Disneyquest. That was yummy and the deserts looked really good (we couldn't fit one in after a meal) I can't comment on Planet Hollywood as i have only eaten in the one in London - i don't know if the American ones are different.

i like the idea of making a reservation and then cancelling it if you change your mind - Chef Mickeys looks great - we had a peak when we went to Cali Grill last year. We don't have kids and i haven't been able to talk my DH into a character meal yet! it's supposed to be a lot of fun.

i'm hoping we can do something on our first night instead of sleeping. it's a 9 hour flight with a 3 hour wait before and a 2 hour drive to the airport :scared1: We're usually almost unconscious by the time we get to the hotel :rotfl: i'm hoping to be awake enough for a meal at Joes Crab Shack on the 192 and then to have a potter around AKL but i'm not sure if we will manage it!

How about touring the Monorail resorts, checking out the decorations, and graze as you tour?? popcorn::

With a little planning, you'll be able to catch the "boat parade" at the Polynesian ... and I just heard that the "torch ceremony" at Poly is also not to be missed ...

Thank you all very much! DH just suggested a character meal and thought the Osborne lights would be good. Or DTD. SO Im trying hard to get Rez for CRT, 1900 Park Fare, CM, or LTT. They are all booked up. Sounds like a good way to enjoy our first night. Would love the 1900 Park Fare! I believe we would have to monorail it to GF and that would be great! Would also love to order a cake for there. So hopefully it all works out. (It is at GF right?? I have read so much the last 24 hrs the info is getting scrambled in my mind!):surfweb:

We'll be at the Poly from the 6-13 :cool1:

Can't believe we're in double digits!!!!

Has anyone ever been at WDW in Dec before? We will be in Florida 2-16 Dec. We're coming into fall here Colorado and I'm getting ready to put our summer clothes away. Just wondering for the kids what kind of summer clothes I should keep out--shorts, capri's, tank tops, ect. Or will it be pants and t-shirt weather? I know its Florida but I hear it can get cold too? I just don't want to be too hot. With the new airline luggage prices trying to keep the packing to a minimum.

Thanks for helping!:hippie:

I've read posts where people have reported Dec. days in the 80s and nights in the 40s... I would pack for both!

Layer, layer, layer.
I've been there several times in December, and you really never know what the weather is going to be. Like cheerky said, expect low 40's to high 80's.

Pack capris and tees, light jackets and sweaters/sweatshirts. Don't bother with jeans (too bulky to pack anyway), but if you can pack some light long underwear (think silk) to go under some long summerweight pants, you'll be prepared for all temperatures.

I love those convertible zip-off pants for travel. Wear them long for cool mornings and evenings, zip off the bottom for the warm afternoons.

We just booked today for 6 days/5 nights at the Contemporary December 18-23. AND we got a code!! Woohoo!!!!!!:cool1:

Is anyone else already freaking out that they don't have everything planned perfectly? Maybe it is just me since this is our Honyemoon. I've never freaked out over it so bad before. This is Larry's first WDW trip so I must be over obsessing.
