Official Dancing With the Stars, season 16 thread

It will be on after SPLASH! (just the thought of that show scares the bejeepers out of me! :faint:)

...didja see the coming attractions where one of the women [in a blue one-piece] hits the platform and 'falls' rather than dives off? OMG!! :scared1:

Allie didn't shine, and I really wanted her to. Zero personality came out of her during the dance and her dress made her look like a sausage. Wardrobe needs to work on that...

:lmao: ...I'm thinking more like, kielbasa....

Well, I have never really"watched" Dancing before- saw it a few times, we are watching it to support Jacoby. We are huge Ravens fans in this house!!! I thought Kellie was awesome!!!!She did great, also loved Zandaya(I knew her because DD watched her show), some of the others were decent. But my man Jacoby was great!!!! He needs to not slouch, and his feet aren't right, but he did fantastic. He has great "star power" IMO Especially with 1 week, I hope he can go far. I voted and all. BTW Is there a fee for that? LOL

Welcome to the thread and the show!

::yes:: that looked nasty, but no one has died yet - although one of the male competitors evidently had a nasty foot injury that ended his quest. :crazy2:

No fee for the call -- and you can also vote on the website! ;)

Loved Kelli and Derek. She has an adorable personality and I really feel he does a fantastic job of bringing out the best dancer possible in his partners through his teaching and choreography. I can see these two winning the whole thing.

I knew nothing about Victor Ortiz and when I heard he was with a new partner, I figured he wouldn't last long. I really warmed to him during his time on the screen, though. I also really found myself liking this new pro. I would like to see them do well.

I loved Ingo when he was Jax on GH. Kym is one of my favorite pros. I had high hopes for these two and felt a little disappointed in the performance. I hope that they improve because these two Aussies could be really cute to watch in the upcoming weeks.

Lisa Vanderpump. Ugh. She can go away. Infact, the producers can change their mind and send someone home today if it is her. What was with the dog? I mean, really. I feel sorry for her pro, though, because she is not good and it might be hard for them to be around long enough for him to get his own fan following. I predict that they will be the first to go. If not first, definitely second.

D.L. Hughley was bad. I was surprised because I usually think Cheryl does a good job with her partners. She hasn't been doing as good in past seasons in my opinion, but I wasn't expecting that crap fest. I think he will be one of the first 3 or so to go.

Zendaya was good, but no surprise there. She is the Disney ringer that must be on each season. They never win so I don't think she is going to win. Having Val as her partner will help her get votes, though, which is important since we have seen that the Disney stars don't have the fan following.

Sean Lowe was not good. I'm not sure Peta is one of the better pros. I think he would probably be doing better if he had had Kym, but we will see how he does. He seems to have a following so I think he will last longer than some others that might be better than him. Maybe he really just needs a couple of weeks to hit his stride and suddenly get good. He will probably get those couple of weeks so we will see.

Alexandra Raisman did a good enough job, but I was expecting a little bit more. Mark looks much better with hair. And he wasn't making those weird facial expressions, so that makes me happy. I liked her more than Zendaya.

Dorothy Hamill really captured my heart. I would love to see her and Tristan do well. Gosh I love Tristan.

Wynonna Judd didn't do good, but she wasn't the worst of the night. I think she will likely be one of the first 3 or 4 to go, though. Such a shame because I love to watch Tony. The only time I have ever seen him lose his temper was with Kate Gosselin, which I think says more about her than him.

I was prepared to hate Andy Dick. Darn it, he actually made me feel sorry for him and root for him. Darn him and his mind tricks. ;) Not sure how I feel about this new pro. Looking forward to getting to know more about her, though.

There were multiple times that I could not understand what Jacoby Jones was saying. I had to keep rewinding it. However, when I did understand him, he was absolutely hilarious. Would like to see him stick around, but would like him to be with someone who isn't Karina. Not a fan of her's.

Bachelor Sean wasn't very good, but in his defense, I thought the choreography was lousy.

I'm rooting for Andy. Yes, he has a reputation for being a real...jerk. But when he's on his game, I think he's hilarious. He has a huge personality and I hope he hangs in there.

I also didn't like Kellie Pickler on AI, she played the typical ditz. She seems more mature, and also very sweet.

Nice to see another "SYTYCD" alum (Lindsey).

Overall I was underwhelmed with last night's show.

I thought Kellie was great and is perfect for the show. I hate rooting for the ringer, but Zendaya was pretty great. I also liked Dorothy Hamill and I love me some Ingo.

I think the people with new pro partners are the most vulnerable since a lot of people vote for their pro favorites. If I had to guess who goes home first, I'd say Victor the boxer or the Real Housewife. DL and Wynonna were not good but Cheryl has a big fan base and DL was at least funny. Wynonna is probably the most well known so I bet she sticks around a while. Here is the order I predict elimination based on my gut alone. :wizard:

First Elimination - Victor
Second Elimination - Lisa
Third Elimination - DL
Fourth Elimination - Andy
Fifth Elimination - Sean
Sixth Elimination - Wynonna
Seventh Elimination - Dorothy
Eight Elimination - Zendaya
Ninth Elimination - Ingo
Finalists: Kellie, Jacoby, Aly
Winner: Kellie

I think the winner will be Kellie too. She did a fantasic job for a first. Derek's partners always win. :)

DH brought this up. Wouldn't it be more fair for the stars or pros to draw names? Derek ALWAYS gets talented partners. Tony is often stuck with one that ranges from awful to middlin'...except for Melissa.

I mean, the stars aren't "really" stars. They're easily replaceable if one of them objects. The pros can come or go, depending on their desire for a regular paycheck.
I'm kinda tired of certain people getting a specific level in a partner. Also, I'd like to see well-liked, but untrained stars be in an episode together.

I know, I know...this has been mentioned ad nauseam. But sheesh, DL and Zendayah pitted against each other? How many more years do we have to watch the formula? I want to see likable people, with no training, scrambling to remain in those first few weeks because they are ALL working so hard to do as well as their opposition. I'm tired of seeing obvious standouts in front of obvious I-can't-do-this-to-save-my-life entertainers.
Or, entertainers who've all had training working their rear-ends off to beat the competition. I want that first week to be HARD!

I think my ambivalence to DRAMA colors my preference. I don't want to know the sob stories, the trained against the hopelessly unrhythmic. Just train and dance. Strictly Ballroom!

Curses!! She found the REALITY TALENT SHOW FORMULA!!!! :scared1:

A few plants, a few sob stories, a scene stealer who is not particularly talented, one equally untalented person with a large internet following and sprinkle it with "cannon fodder" (the people they didn't care about in the first place just to promote their plants) and you have the FORMULA! :dance3:

Unfortunately, it's worked WONDERS on American Idol so everyone uses it as the standard.:p

In other words, likeable people do not generate buzz or advertising dollars. They just don't. ALL anyone was talking about today was how horrendous DL was (a black man that can't DANCE??? :scared:) and Wynonna (one radio guy called her WYOMING:blush:) not the good and likeable ones.

Will it stop? When AI finally tanks (it actually jumped the shark three seasons ago) and shows like the Voice, Celebrity Apprentice and Survivor stop making the top revenue for their networks... hopefully soon. :)

:rotfl: This is the only reality show we've watched from season to season, except for my occasional viewing of Toddlers and Tiaras (can't handle an entire season of that train wreck), and the only reason we kept it up is because our kids like it and there wasn't a better alternative... we also think Tom is hilarious.

Maybe we should keep the TV off on Monday nights, skip the early shows and tune in once they are down to 5 or so. I just have to convince the kids!

HIYA BCF!!! :wave2:

I have a few more hours before I can tune in!!!

Off for a quick walk around Disneyland and then I will be back to watch.

I will stop by here and get all caught up before I tune in. :goodvibes

Hey Kar! You're a DWTS fan too, huh? Have fun on your walk - catch up with ya later. :goodvibes

So glad they're going to let the public decide who does the encore dance on results night. (Tweet #encore for whomever you want to dance tomorrow night if anyone missed it.)
