Official D23 Expo schedule thread; August 19-21, Anaheim (Updated 8/17, post #179)

This is the Official Schedule Press Release:

One thing interesting about the Press Release is that two more presentations are listed for "D23 Members Only": History of DL Hotel on Friday and Imagineering Dream & Fantasy on Sunday. Both are scheduled to begin before the 10 am opening for the Show Floor for non-Members, but neither is scheduled for the Show Floor.

I though it might be possible that admission to the lobby mught be before 10 for non-Members (and possibly before 9 for Members) but that looks like it will not be the case. Thsi was not an issue in 2009 as none of the presentations started before the non-Member entry time. -- Suzanne

That's great, thanks the for link, saved as an Excel spreadsheet on my laptop and phone now!

The Guide Book is now up -and it has the schedual layed out in grid format

Apparently I can't post the link because I have not posty 10 times yet. But you can get it from the D23 Expo homepage.

I wonder, because they're both in the Stage 28 (smallest) venue, will attending Legends of Imagineering and Imagineering Guide to Creativity and Innovation be impossible with one hour in between?
I'm trying to decide if I need to choose between them because I want to go to both badly.

THat spreadsheet is AHHH-MAZING! :worship:

I'm never going to figure out what to do when tho.... LOL!

I'm sure we'll all get one when we check in..and probably a little bag to put goodies in (although hopefully a bit nicer than last time)
I see in the Dream Store they are announcing stuff called "Vintage Disneyland Collection"..this could be trouble for me.

So I have been reading stuff like crazy and looked thru all of the Expo Guide PDF and the presentations. Most of the things that interest me will be in the Arena, Stage 23 and Stage 28.

I am trying to get a handle on where the bottlenecks will be. The Arena seems to be sufficiently large that it will be an easy venue to get into. Which means I will not have to line up insanely early for the Arena. However Stages 23 and 28 are much smaller and may require lining up really early.

Which all basically means that I can go to other venues and presentations before Arena presentations and still get into the Arena, but for Stages 23 and 28 I need to be careful what I do before those presentations because I may be too late to the queue.

Does that sound right?

Further, on Saturday there are a series of three afternoon presentations all in Stage 28 and I want to see them all. But it sounds like they will clear Stage 28 after each presentation so unless the line is short for each one there will be no way to catch all three.

Is that what I should expect?

Based on our experience in 2009, that sounds more or less correct.
However, with the big caveat that as long as we were in line an hour prior to the presentation, we always got in. Those 3 in a row presentations in Stage 28 are all at least an hour apart, so they may be doable. I would guess that some will be successful in getting back in line for the next presentation, but not all. If you have the option, try to sit where you can be one of the first to exit. This may not be possible, as we were "loaded" into the seats for some presentations.
Enjoy the Expo -- Suzanne

It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on things. One thing that remains to be seen is how they handle the queues. In 2009 we only attended two back to back presentations and on that day they were still queuing up on the second floor. We left the WoC presentation to get in line for the "We make the music". The line was HUGE! However even though we were in the part of the part of the line that they weren't sure would get in or not, we still got in.

If they are queuing up on the show floor, you'll need to hustle downstairs to get back in line for the next one. I can tell you from past D23 events, people think nothing of leaving a session 5-10 minutes early to get a good place in line for the next session.

I've already chosen the events that I want to see, but I'm waiting on my other half to highlight the schedule to see if we are of like minds. I've even got the schedule coded to include the potential wait times. The only presentation I'm really willing to wait for is the Radiator Springs Reality session. Most everything else I want to see is in the Arena.
