Official "Castle" thread! Spoilers welcomed!

Spoiler-y speculation ...

It seems to me that if our mob boss is truly an honorable man, Castle will have a strong case to break the loyalty oath, because he was lied to. The mobster promised that Castle would be able to bring the killer to justice via legal means, and that was not given a chance to happen. It would seem that a smart mob boss who had made a promise like that would wait until after the conviction and then have some lifer kill the cop in prison. Killing him right after the arrest was way too obvious ... unless ... Internal Affairs eventually discovers that someone else (other than the mob, I mean) actually killed the crooked cop.

My favorite bit was Ryan riding to the rescue with Lanie's parents. Good thing they didn't actually KNOW Espo, or there is no way on earth they would have bought THAT story.

I think we've found one piece of Lanie's backstory; there has to be something career-wise in relation to the shadow of her so-successful Daddy ... and a probable conflict with a New Orleans socialite Mom whose only measure of success for a daughter is how well she marries.

Well, Bad Santa won't make any top lists for episodes, but it did have it's moments and I really did like it.

I loved:

Beckett's poem

Beckett's little happy dance at the Christmas party. But poor Rick, he looked so sad.

Ryan's proposal story

Espo & Lanie's decision - best reason for a break up ever

the scene in the strip club (the sneak peek)

Espo & Castle discussing Santa at the crime scene

the case was very interesting too

the cyber lady with the mob who helped Castle

the opening scene at the loft with Beckett saying "what rhymes with I'm screwed?"

While it wasn't happy news, Gates telling Rick he couldn't work with them anymore was a measure of how far their relationship has come - she seemed sad to have to tell Rick the news.

Like I said, not a top favorite, but not a bad episode either. I had guessed both big things in the episode - that's amazing for me.

I think Rick Castle, PI is going to be a hoot. From what I am reading, the new episodes pick up a few months later, and the guys & Kate are doing OK without him (considering they did just fine before he came) & then he tells them he got his PI license! he thinks that's how he's going to get back in....should be interesting.

Some in the fandom are unhappy Rick didn't tell Kate right away - but I think it obvious why he didn't - it's probably the first time in many years she's OK with Christmas, and he didn't want to ruin that for her.

So next Monday we get a repeat of "Driven", and the following week, a repeat of "Montreal", then nothing until Jan. 12th.

They didn't repeat "Driven" tonight, they showed "That 70s Show" from last season. I just checked - they are repeating "The Way of the Ninja" next week.

There is a repeat showing of Veritas tonight. One of the best episodes IMO.
