Official "Castle" thread! Spoilers welcomed!

Thoughts on "Castle, PI":

I loved it! It was lots of fun, a good old fashioned Castle episode. Lots of nice throwbacks to previous episodes, great new set, lots of fun lines & situations.

Loved:

the opening scene at the loft: Martha teasing Rick about his pjs, Kate's kiss on Martha's cheek, Kate also teasing Rick about being dressed, Martha telling Kate she's smart to be scared of Rick's surprise

the painting from Kate's living room & the Budda statue in their new places in the loft

Rick's PI office - it was like something out of a 1940s movie, Loved when Kate came there when he was questioning a POI, he gave her a stool to sit on

Ryan - AKA Baby Castle - his "Lassie" theory and the "c-word" discussion. Also loved his "he got you to marry him" when discussing how resourceful Castle can be & he & Castle feeding the birds

Gates was sooooo good. Loved when she was listening to them build theory and how she threw Rick out when they got to the "we", how she told the guys to not help him out (and then loved their response); loved her "now that was easier than I thought" when she asked Rick to leave & he did (and obviously Kate knew better)

the scene in the morgue! Also loved how Perlmutter blocked Rick's view at the crime scene, his many comments to Kate, etc.

the first time Kate & Rick build theory in his office, but she answers the phone....

loved how many times someone mentioned they were married, including them (Kate: married people tell each other things; Rick: you said married people tell each other stuff!")

the scene when the guys talk Kate into calling Rick to check up on him. Espo telling Kate to "detect" is a throwback to "Vampire Weekend". In that episode, Espo complained about how little info they had to find someone, and Kate said to him "You're a detective. So detect." LOL

When Rick tries to get the coffee cup, and the guys beat him to it

Rick: "what happened to the girl in the leather jacket and who owned a motorcycle?" Kate: "she's in law enforcement and drinks expensive wine"

The whole seduction by wine scene, and how that changed....and leading to that wonderful morning after scene, which lead to her running back to him, using that voice and him being disappointed

The ending scene when she told him she was proud of him and gave him those gifts

And almost the whole episode - even the case was interesting, and I didn't guess the killer at all. I liked that Kate arrested the killer in Rick's office

From what I can tell, the next two episodes, Rick will still be a PI. (Jan. 19 & Feb. 2; they are showing a repeat of Jan. 26) But I have a feeling that something will happen to Kate in the 2 part episode and Castle will be welcomed back to the 12th.

That was a cute episode, lots of funny bits.

And there will be a repeat next week, and we will see Castle, PI on Feb. 2.

thoughts on "PI Caramba"

I really liked it a lot, not as much as last week's episode, but I still enjoyed it. I did guess the killer this time.

Loved (in no particular order):

the scene between Kate & Martha. Loved them sharing their concerns over the man they love. Loved that he's getting calls from people who try to explain where he was for 2 months - love that they didn't put that out of mind

Javi the fan boy - who knew every soap that the actress was in, knew how important she was, his bad opinion of her ex-husband and co-star (who was actually on One Life to Live, the soap opera Nathan Fillion got his start on). Loved that one of the shows was "Chiquitas", the telenovela they used in a season 3 episode.

Castle and the pencils, especially when he needed something to write with

Castle "expanding his brand"

Castle: "I'll be my own muse"

Kate's support of his work

the scene between Rick & Kate in his office, the fact that he knew her clothes so well, the "Mr. Castle!", Kate hiding behind him

then the next scene in their bedroom.

Castle kissing her goodbye at the crime scene: "Have a good day at work, honey"

Kate: "do you know how lucky you are?"
Rick: "extremely since I am married to you."

them walking out of the precinct together while he narrates in his film noir voice.

I kind of laughed when the guys wanted floor seats for the Knicks. The Knicks stink, so I guess they want the tickets to watch the other team or to people watch.

While I acknowledge that the purse was his way in to the case, in reality, wouldn't the police be looking for it? Especially once they figured out what she put in the purse? Yes, a TV plot hole, so I'll let it go.

Baby Castle again

All in all, a fun episode. Lots of fun lines and I do like Castle's PI/film noir narration.

There's going to be a repeat on Jan. 26 and then a new episode on Feb. 2nd, with Castle still doing his PI thing.

It will be fun seeing what Sheldon does to get a restraining order from Nathan!

I'm not sure that Sheldon will be there. Sounds just like Leonard and Raj are there. I hope that they do have Sheldon because you're right, he would do something.

Thoughts on "I, Witness"

I really liked it - I've been a big fan of this PI arc. (but I have a feeling this is the end of it)

I loved (in no particular order):

Kate's total support of Rick. From the opening when she tells him to "go get 'em" to the loving scene in the loft the next morning (that ended with a kiss on the head) to her & the guys investigating what seemed to be a closed case because "He's been right so many times.....", to her telling him to "sleep on it" when he expressed doubts about being a PI, it was a great example of what they mean to each other. In the past, he supported her, now she's supporting him.

Their conversations about naps

Seeing Lanie again!

The scene when Kate & Ryan got Espo to go on the date with the music store owner. Loved the little clink of glasses at the end. I did laugh a little when it looked like Kate was about to drink the candy!

I actually thought that Eva was still alive - I had that thought about 30 seconds before Rick did. But as soon as Kate got the phone call, I knew.

Loved her bringing him coffee after seeing his note

Loved how he went down the rabbit hole, but he wasn't too far off from the actual outcome

i wasn't crazy about Jenny & Kevin's Espo/Match.com stuff, but the rest of that story was so funny - especially how it played out. Boy, I wish we'd get to see the woman he's taking to the ski resort.

I really felt for poor Kate - waiting for him must have brought back horrible memories between her mom not showing up for dinner and him going missing for 2 months. It's also an interesting parallel to "The Belly of the Beast" from last year - Rick leaving after they were discussing a nice day at home, and then missing for their dinner instead of Kate.

And poor Rick - another old friend not what they seemed - Damian Westlake, Sophia Turner, now Eva.

An interesting case with lots of twists and turns - I wasn't sure who the bad guy was at all.

I did yell at Rick to "call 911" in the opening scene, but then the rest wouldn't work

All in all, a really good episode. Not a perfect one, but an entertaining hour.

And I have a feeling we're going to need to be prepared for the 2 parter!!!!
