I also finished Raging Heat today, and I really liked it. Lots of parallels to the show this time:

a character steps on a bomb
Nikki & Rook are in a car that is in water and one of them is stuck
a swing set is a meeting place
politician uses a SuperPAC funded with dirty money for his campaign

there is a time jump (but here it's 2 years, unlike the months that the show uses)

I don't remember seeing Eunice. They do go to the Hamptons, but no goofy chief.

The acknowledgements made me sad.

The dedication was fun. So was the cliffhanger ending.
