Does anyone know what changes were being made to the restaurant and/or if there are any menu changes being made?

well, physically they are taking the restaurant down to the studs and redoing it and the menu is changing - though similar tone ... California cuisine with sushi offerings. Also expanding their beverage options - I believe now will have 80 wines by the glass and feature craft beers as well.

They are expanding sushi offerings as well and will have a separate sushi bar that will feature a Omakase menu

It's not completely changing gears or anything, I would call it more of an evolution of the menu (for example, the pork and pollenta dish is said to be changed to a duo of pork featuring that along with pork belly)

Here's a link to some other items on the new menu:

Thank you for the info! I will keep watching for the new menu - need to know there is a great vegetarian option for DH. Been a few years since I've eaten at CG and would love to do dinner in Jan on our rare adults only trip.

Even if there isn't a good vegetarian option it is likely that the chef can make something special. When I was Vegan a few years ago I went to the restaurant and there was nothing really for me. I told the waiter and he said, let me check with the chef. The chef ended up making me the most delicious meals of my life. So when you make your reservation, let them know he's a vegetarian or vegan and odds are good, his food will be better than yours.

On the off chance you haven't read it yet, this website is awesome not just for vegans but also for vegetarians going to WDW.

Oooh this is great for me too, for the same reason (vege DH)!

I think you can probably bank on a more expensive menu as well.

LOL Yep, pretty sure that's a given!;)

Thanks for the link and the info - read DH your post and I think your experience convinced him we need to return!:goodvibes

Well the disney blog is now talking about the new menu and is going 'to let us know soon' when they are taking bookings so fingers crossed for the next few days:)

Subbing and hoping that we hear some good news soon - have an Oct vacation planned and would love to go for dinner again.

:rolleyes1

Will there be an advance notice of when we can make reservations or will we find out the day they open by checking the blogs/this forum/and Dining page?

That Sundae sampler they showed on the Disney Park Blog looks delicious and so cute too. Can't wait!

Thanks for the link. If the desserts are any indication, it looks like the new version of CG is going to be much more casual than it's predecessor. IMO, the chocolate dessert is the only one that looks like a fine dining dessert.

I thought the complete opposite the menu was vet run down with poor presentations now its very much "hip" and new it's very much more of a "foodie" restaurant IMHO

I totally agree, as a foodie, I am super excited about the way of thinking about food that the new dessert they showed represents. They are not limiting themselves to "fancy" foods, but are instead taking great simple ingredients and making awesome tasting food with them. So exciting, can't wait!! I have an October and a December trip and I hope I can get at least ONE of them :)

:dance3: <-- For no reason other than it's the cutest damn smiley face of all time.
