You should be able to get this at GF, Cont., or YC/BC. All of them make beautiful cakes. I'd decide where I wanted to eat, making a dinner ADR at one of these 3 resorts, then call & ask for private dining in that location.

Thanx, I will try and contact the GF Bakery again and see what they say :)

We had an AWESOME cake at the California Grill on January 12th to celebrate my daughter's second birthday.

That cake is absolutely beautiful!!!!

Here's the mini cake I ordered for our dinner at Narcoossee's in July 09. This was my graduation trip (Graduate/Master's Degree) and we were celebrating. I wanted the cake in pink and green - my sorority's colors - but it was all pink. Nevertheless, it was yummy and creamy!

That's the cake I am considering! Thanks for posting this! How much was it? Would it serve 2 people, or just 1?

Thanks!
Kristi

This cake was $30.00. Since we had other desserts, this was shared amongst 1 other adult and 2 small children. We each took a bite out of it. I have ordered three other cakes from GF Private dining in the past and I must say this was the best tasting and cheapest!

That pink Hatter style cake with the butterfly above is amazing!

I just order the cake today for my boys! I decided on the Pirate theme after all! I talked to Jerry at CR by calling the hotline. We ordered a 10 inch vanilla with custard, no fruit, white buttercream icing, a 2d sugar style Pirate Mickey (Printed and standing as some of the other figures are because the 3d mold can be done as a Pirate Mickey) it probably have a chest and jewels and he mentioned coins and such. He asked I had specific colors in mind and I had original posted many moons ago that I liked burgundy and gold, but I've seen that a few times now and was cool with give them free reign on color scheme but it was for boys so I wanted it to be boyish and pirate-y! I told him to remember on boy turns 2 on the 12th and the other turns 15 on the 21st of Feb. so it's for them! He was really fun and nice to chat with and went over the whole order at least three times and even confirmed a few things. I'm really excited that I've been following this thread for so long and now it's finally coming down to the wire here. He quoted me at $85 since the sugar Mickey was on top. I had first given him a round about number of $100 to play with but could have went higher if I needed to. I'm guessing/thinking it will look similar to the Pirate/Princess cake someone had posted a while back minus the Princess.

In Oct for our aniv I had ordered a small castle Cake I had talked to Pat a few days before well it never was made! Left a bad taste for me. In Jan of 2011 we are on the Wonder for the Panama Canal I would liketo try something again. Not a GF I would like a Bon Voyage or tropical theme. I also like choc strawberries too. Any ideas.

I wanted to surprise my daughter with a great birthday cake on our recent trip to WDW. I started by calling the cake hotline and connecting with the Wilderness Lodge. I told them what I wanted and they gave me Chef Brian's e-mail address at the Contemporary. I told Brian what I wanted and he told me that it would be $300:scared1:That was much more than I could afford.:sad1: So after a couple of e-mails back and forth I decided on a Mad Hatter's cake with a Splash Mountain theme. After it was all set, Brian told me to call the WL private dining and actually order the cake through them. That is what I did.

I was traveling with a friend (Bill) and my daughter (Kelly) - just the three of us. We arrived at the Whispering Canyon in plenty of time for our reservation. Bill checked us in at the podium and confirmed the cake. We waited for a little while. The pager went off and we were seated. Sadly we were not in the maining dining room, but a smaller dining room off to the side. The main reason I ordered the cake is that my daughter LOVES attention. Bill told them at the podium that it didn't matter if the cake was brought to the table before, during or after the meal. I have read reviews of people not being happy with the delivery time of the cake but we didn't care. The dining experience was a little disappointing since we were off to the side and could hear craziness going on in the main dining room but really couldn't see what was going on.

When the meal was over, Bill left the table and found the waitress and asked if Kelly could be paraded or something through the dining room with her birthday cake. The waitress said, she couldn't be paraded but she would bring the cake out. So we waited a bit and the waitress showed up with a cupcake and had everyone in the area sing happy birthday. When that was over I quietly walked up to the waitress and explained that there was an expensive Splash Mountain cake somewhere that was supposed to be served. A few minutes later, the chef came out and chatted with us. We had already met him because Bill has nut allergies and always reviews the menu with the chef. Chef Eddie kind of nosed around the table, chatted and took away the bread basket. He mumbled something about making room. Then the cake arrived and it was perfect. This time a bunch of wait staff as well as the chef and the people in our area of the restaurant sang Happy Birthday. It really was a let down because there weren't many people to actually see the cake and by this time my daughter was way past being ready to leave. Also there was a six year old who was celebrating his birthday. They brought out a cupcake for him and then he just kind of waited - I know he was looking for a great cake as well.

So I really don't know where the communication breakdown was with the cake. The waitress apparently wasn't told about it. She was great. In dealing with both the nut allergy and the cake, Eddie was great. The cake was magnificent. Unfortunately the whole experience was a disappointment.

The cake cost $135. It was chocolate on the inside - both cake and mousse filling. It had delicious white buttercream and fondant on the outside. Everything was edible. We did not cut into it and they stored it for us until the next day when we were driving to Fort Lauderdale. I think the agreement to store it was made due to the screw up. Anyway, here is a picture. My camera is new and I still haven't learned how do use the settings. The cake was absolutely perfect.

:confused3 Where's the picture?

:rotfl: Funny I read the "Here's a picture and said to myself, "Where's the picture?", then saw your post.

I would love to see a picture of the cake too DOPEYLUVER. Gosh the original quote for $300, that must have been going to be an AMAZING cake. What were you wanting for the $300 cake? I would love to know as I'm starting to get ideas together for a cake for later in the year so would love to know what a $300 cake includes (so I know to scale back my ideas :lmao: )

Looking forward to seeing your daughters cake :goodvibes

OMG, I am such a technology moron. The picture is on my computer. The picture is my entire desktop, unintentionally. It's on photobucket AND shutterfly. It's also on Walgreen's photo section. It's still on my camera. I cannot figure out how to get it from ANY of those places onto this. I'll try again after work.

When I originally requested a cake, I specifically said that I wanted it splash mountain themed, but I did not want an edible image. What I ended up with was an edible image a "Splash Mountain" ALONG WITH 3D characters made from icing of Brer Bear, Brer Fox, and Brer Rabbit. There were also little butterflies and bees. I kind of wish I had the $300 to spend because I cannot imagine how a cake could have been better than this one. Now I'm sure I'm killing everyone with a need to see this. Hopefully one of my teenagers will be home tonight to help me get this picture posted!!!

Well here's something for now. Hopefully I'll figure out how to post a real picture later.

That is an incredible looking cake! The fact that they can do that and for $135 but then charge $80 for something like looks like a bad grocery store cake is beyond me.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Two thumbs up for that one!

We will be celebrating DD's 9th Birthday whilst in WDW in August. We are staying at the GF but she has requested Chef Mickey's for her birthday dinner.

I want to get a custom cake but am so stuck on ideas - there are so many fantastic cakes. She has 2 rabbits who she adores and I was wondering about a "Thumper" themed cake??

There isn't a disney character she doesn't love and she also loves the Princesses and Hannah Montana.

I would love it if anyone else has experiece with 9 year old cakes who could give me advice. She is very girly.

What a beautiful cake! Could you tell us how much it cost? I would love a similar one for my daughter's birthday.

Hi. Thanks to everyone who loved the cake as much as we did!! When my daughter sees the pictures she says "MY TAKE! MY TAKE!" and gets all excited. Priceless. But in real money it was $100.
