Just back, thought I'd share!

Ordered a cake for my twins' birthday at 1900 Park Fare.
Wanted 8", fondant and buttercream and Lilo & Stitch theme.
Was anxious to see what they'd do!

We were THRILLED with the cake! It was fantastic! Kids went nuts when it was brought out!
I took a picture when our server was holding it - only way, as my autistic son kept saying cake, cake, cake and reaching out for it!

8", $77, fondant with buttercream filling.
Very yummy, though we would have enjoyed more of it if weren't soooo stuffed from eating dinner (we LOVE Park Fare!)

The palm trees were a huge hit with us - well, the whole cake was, but really those palm trees wowed us the most, along with Lilo & Stitch up top!

Just back and I will post pictures soon. We had the most awesome cake delivered to our room at Bay Lake Towers. It was a 10inch Nightmare before Christmas Cake. The detail was so outstanding and it was perfect in everyway. Thank you so much Cake man Brian. Not only did it look good but tasted just excellent. My sons were blown away by the cake. Worth every penny.

Can't wait to see it!!

i ordered a tinkerbell cake from the gf bakery. we got the cake and it could not have been more perfect. all it took was one phone call and i left the rest up to pat and her fantastic bakery staff. :thumbsup2

the cake was beautiful and taste so good we were just thrilled. also the price was very reasonable.

we will do this again.::yes::::yes::::yes::

I called the cake hotline to order a cake for a dinner at the Cali Grill for my daughter's 2nd b-day next month. I originally had in mind a Mad Hatter style cake that looked like a present. (I found the picture on here.) The CM said "I have a cake here that is the Mad Hatter style with flowers on top. Does that sound like something you'd be interested in?" At first I thought that sounded cool and made it more "girly" so I said sure. But now I am thinking that flowers and Mad Hatter don't really go? I think of it as a modern cake and the flowers would be more traditional?? :confused3 Well, I was wondering if anyone had a picture of a cake like this or if they have seen one and it looks fine. I'm paying $100 for this and so I want to love it.

OR: Can I call and change my order without them hating me? I'm still 5 weeks out. Thanks!

Has anyone ever ordered a New Year's Eve cake? We'll be at Boardwalk for NYE and there will be 8 of us total and I thought a cake might be nice to eat when we come home from the fireworks while we watch the friendship boats from our balcony. I'm thinking about ordering an 8" cake and just letting the bakery got to town on it for the $30 in decorations fee.

Also, do you still get a discount with the Tables in Wonderland card?

Finally getting to it....
Our cake, I had ordered a small 6 inch cake from Jiko at AK Lodge for delivery to our room in Kidani Village on our arrival date of 11/8/09. It was only 4 adults. Cake was adorable, just what I asked for and very very good. $80.00, white cake, chocolate buttercream filling with vanilla buttercream under the fondant.
Isn't it adorable?!

Just wanted to report that we got a wonderful cake at CM on 11/29. We ordered 6" with choc. mousse filling and white choc. ganache in a mimmine mouse theme. It was beautiful and tasted AWESOME. I will post pics when I get home. Brian did a GREAT job!!! We got compliments, and "how did you get that" from all the tables arond us. The best part was, I gave Brian a $75 buget and only got charged $51!!!

This gets me really excited for my upcoming AKV cake!!!! I asked that it be Lion Kingish so I'm hoping for something a bit like your cake. I can't quite make out what that is in the very center... is it an animal?

I called the cake hotline a few days ago, followed the prompts to the Contemporary. Talked to a woman who then gave me the E-mail to contact Brian. I E-mailed him 3 days ago with our plans for the cake we want, and asked him to please return my E-mail with a quote. Haven't heard a word!

Is this common that it takes more than 3 days to even hear back anything? I'm wondering now if maybe I haven't made a good decision to use Brian if he can't even return an E-mail?

Planning for spring trip - Just returned and had an awesome cake at 1900 Park Fare.
Was going to do another there - but then my daughter said it would be nice to do her bday cake when we eat at WCC, and she wants a Jessie cake, and thought that would be an appropriate place.
So... can this be done? Do they have a bakery at WL and do custom cakes or do they do them elsewhere?

thanks!

When is your trip? They prioritize cake orders by date, so you may not hear anything until closer to your trip. :thumbsup2

The Wilderness Lodge's bakery is limited in what it can do (think buttercream or ganache with buttercream roses), but I think I read on this thread a few days ago that they can help you get a cake made by the Contemporary pastry chef and delivered to WL. So I'd call Private Dining at WL and see what they say. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to bump my message again in hopes for more info

Hi all
I have lurked here for a long time as we have been planning our trip for a long time hahahaha

We are going to WDW in 8 weeks time and while we are there it is my DD's 11th b'day .. There are 18 of us in total, we are going to T-Rex in DTD for her b'day dinner, total surprise for her, i have kind of gathered that i will have to go to the boardwalk bakery, pick up the cake to take there with us.

I have poked and prodded DD to try and find out in a secret way what cake she would like and she decided on Tinkerbell
So here come the questions
1) I have googled lots of Tinkerbell cakes and was wondering do you think i could e-mail them a pic of it??
2) She doesn't like buttercream icing at all, we don't tend to have that kind of icing on cakes here, we normally have fondant or royal icing type so what do i ask for??
3)Any idea on size of cake for 18 people to all have a slice??

Also i am intending on ordering the Slipper desert for her surprise b'day breakfast at 1900 Park Fare
1) How do i go about doing that??
2) Which one will i get, white choc or milk choc, or do i get a choice??

TIA :thumbsup2

if you can get ahold of someone there they will normally supply you with an email. pat gave me hers via phone call and i managed to send her the camo cake pic from here that i wanted. she didnt have a color fax machine.

i ordered a 6inch cake for us and we managed to get 7 slices out of it and still gave away 1/3 to a fellow diser.
as for the icing sorry i cant help there. i know in england youre used to different cake coverings.

Thanks very much for your help

I would love to see pictures of this, i am looking at ordering a Tink cake for my DD

Our trip is in 5 days. We arrive December 10th. Thought I would of heard something by now. I will try calling them today.

1) I have googled lots of Tinkerbell cakes and was wondering do you think i could e-mail them a pic of it??

You will need to speak directly with the pastry chef at BoardWalk Bakery to get his/her email addy. Call the BoardWalk Inn and ask to be transferred to the bakery. (407) 939-5100

2) She doesn't like buttercream icing at all, we don't tend to have that kind of icing on cakes here, we normally have fondant or royal icing type so what do i ask for??

Disney's fondant-covered cakes have a layer of buttercream underneath to adhere the fondant to the cake. If even that is too much buttercream and she doesn't want to scrape it off, the only other option would be ganache.

3)Any idea on size of cake for 18 people to all have a slice??

They say a 10-inch cake serves 16 people, but then they also say that a 6-inch cake serves 4 people, and we got about 10 slices out of it - they're TALL! :cutie:

Also i am intending on ordering the Slipper desert for her surprise b'day breakfast at 1900 Park Fare
1) How do i go about doing that??

Call the Cake Hotline number on the first page of this thread and follow the prompts for the Grand Floridian. Alternatively, you can call Private Dining at the the Grand: 407-824-2474. (Note that the email on that first page doesn't work).

2) Which one will i get, white choc or milk choc, or do i get a choice??

People usually get white chocolate when they order at the Grand Floridian, but you could ask about milk chocolate and see what they say.

My husband will have just finished college when we go down in March. Does anyone have any pics/ideas for a graduation cake we could order? How helpful are the guys at WDW when getting ideas for specialty cakes? Thanks

I finally got around to uploading pics of our cake from Chef Mickey:
