DD's 10th birthday is on Nov. 5 (in 8 days) and we have ressies at CM that night. I'd planned to order her a custom cake weeks ago, but I've been very ill and didn't get to do it. It doesn't have to be too elaborate, but I don't want her to get stuck with a podium cake because of me.

It's our first time at WDW and she's so excited to spend her b-day there. I really wanted it to be special, but I don't even have gifts for her yet. We leave Sat. night and I'm a little upset at how things are turning out.

Is it too late to order something custom-made for Nov. 5?

They ask that you give forty-eight to seventy-two hours notice (depending on order) for special cake orders. That still puts you within the normal time frame. Definitely call! They'll tell you whether or not they can handle it.

This is a great site!!! I have enjoyed all of the cake pictures! I did not know we could order a cake to celebrate our b-days!!!

Here are my questions.

1)Has anyone purchased a Stitch cake? My DS will be 11 and thats his favorite!!!

2)I saw a picture of a white cake with strawberries and I loved the look of it! Now I can't find it to show my DH the one I want!! We will be there for my 40 b-day its the day after my DS b-day!

If someone can help me find where to order this it would be great!!!!:wizard: Maybe a price?;)

Thanks in advance!!!!:thumbsup2

Just back from our latest trip and thought I would report the experience we had with DD's birthday cake.

We planned to dine at Tokyo Dining for DD's 18th birthday. Called 3 days prior to order a custom cake, but was told they don't do that there. The only thing we were offered were different sizes in a choice of vanilla or chocolate.
No decorations, No requests, Nothing. Just plain jane, Happy Birthday, that's it.

We decided to go with it since we wanted to have soooome sort of cake for DD, and figured well, as long as it tasted good, who cares.

The cake turned out "OK", nothing special at all flavor or looks wise, which is basically what we expected going in. The part I was shocked about was finding out it wasn't even made on Disney property!

The manager came over to our table to ask if we had enjoyed our meal, and to see if the cake had been brought out as planned. He then proceeded to tell us that, "Yes, these are wonderful cakes brought in to us by a local bakery in Lake Mary."

I just don't understand this. I have had cakes made by Disney chefs, on property, MANY times, and they have always been wonderful. Why on earth, ESPECIALLY at an Epcot restaurant, with the wonderful bakeries of Y&B Club and Boardwalk right there, would they not use those??

Just thought it was an interesting, weird tidbit of information.

Oh..and on a side note. We had dinner at Mama Melrose also this trip and ordered the Tiramisu for dessert. When I bit into it, it was partially frozen, and tasted almost like ice cream. Not at all the creamy and smooth consistency it's supposed to be.

I asked the waitress about it, and she said sometimes that happens and they have to notify the company that they purchase them from to adjust their freezers!! I was surprised by this, so I asked her a few questions, and found out that several of the restaurants on property have frozen desserts brought in from elsewhere!?!:confused3

Similar story...we ate at Crystal Palace on Oct. 4. In the past whenever we've really liked something we've asked for the recipe and gotten it, usually pre-printed on a card.
This night they had a delicious pumpkin cheesecake, so i asked for the recipe and the waitress said that they got it from a bakery. I was shocked because I thought they made all their food on site! A few minutes later she came back and handed me an index card with "Lake Mary Bakery" written on it. So I guess they use them for several restaurants.

Sometimes it takes awhile for someone to get back to you, depending on when your date is.

If you're truly concerned, call back, ask to speak with her, and if you receive her voicemail again, ask her to call again and provide an email address to reach you as well (if that's a preference).

Emailing directly when you haven't been given the email address by the Grand Floridian can be an issue. If she hasn't received your voicemail, she won't know who you are and if an order is placed. So it's best to go back where you started and follow up.

I agree. It took Pat 4 days to return my call. If you dont hear from her try her again. She will get back with you!

I've just heard back from Pat :goodvibes She sounds lovely! Unfortunately we can't have kermit and miss piggy so we are just having mickey & minnie instead with a christmassy theme :santa: Can't wait to see it, wanted to give them the freedom to design something - so it's kinda exciting waiting to see what we get :yay: I'm sure it will be cute, but it's whats under the fondant that i'm looking forward to munching

Just because it's as clear as mud to me ;)...

If you want a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery, you can:
a) pick it up

yep!

b) have it delivered to Boardwalk restaurants. Does that include all the current? - Big River Grille, ESPN Club, Kouzzina

Yes!

c) have it delivered to SSR bakery, but not any other hotels (ie. mods)?

SSR doesn't have a bakery - that's why when you order a cake at SSR, it comes from BoardWalk Bakery.

The other option for getting a BoardWalk Bakery cake is staying at the BoardWalk Inn/Villas. :thumbsup2

You can try ordering a cake at a Value or a Moderate, but the problem is that they don't have Private Dining or bakeries like the Deluxes. There is no infrastructure to support the creation and delivery of cakes. The Values have 6-inch readymade cakes in the refrigerators at the food courts, though.

Sometimes you hear of people getting through to a cast member at a Value or Mod who goes out of their way to help them get a cake delivered, and a lot of times it comes from BoardWalk Bakery. But as with all things Disney, it depends on who you talk to...

Does this sound right. I want to order an anniversary cake. We are staying at the Poly and IPO told me the following are our only choices:
Cake Flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, Marble

Fillings: Butter cream, White Chocolate Mousse, Dark Chocolate Mousse, Fruit Mousse

Icing: White Butter cream

I find it hard to believe you can't even get chocolate icing???

Our first night in the World is always spent at DTD shopping for souvineers and dinner at RFC. I really want a cake (maybe mickey head) for my family that day. Any experience delivering or ordering cake at RFC or any other place in Downtown Disney? Love suggestions!!! Thanks y'all!!!

I was hoping to order a cake (haven't decided what flavors, etc.) in May 10 but I was wanting to have a "Mickey Police" for a retirement cake (mine), also we're celebrating our anniversary and DH is sgt on a local police dept.

I was just wondering if they could have a Mickey or Goofy Police statue?:confused3

You have to remember that RFC is not a Disney owned restaurant. Anything Disney themed does not exist there. You may be able to get a cake from RFC but not Disney. If you want a Disney cake you need to go to a Disney restaurant.

I spoke briefly with Polynesian Private Dining about whether they can do custom cakes for Kona. I inquired about a Wall-E cake, which she immediately said they could do, but when I asked about incorporating a music theme into it she said she had to check. She also checked to see if I could order a cake from the GF Bakery and have it delivered. They weren't sure they could incorporate a music theme, but I could definitely order a cake from the GF and have it delivered, so I will probably go that route HTH someone

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I am planning on a Stitch cake at Kona. I will try Poly dining first, but if I can have a cake delivered from the GF bakery, then I will go that route.

Just know that many have reported in the past that there was a hefty fee for delivering a cake from the GF to another resort on top of the price of the cake. The delivery fee of $75 has been reported in the past. Now, things change and can depend on which CM you talk to but this has been the case in the past.

I just ordered our cake for our 1 year anniversary on January 5th. We were married at Disney and will be having our dinner at the same place we had our little reception. We did not have a cake at disney but did have one at our at home reception. I called and was able to get the 6 inch vanilla with white frosting. I requested to have it made as a replica of the top tier of our wedding cake.

We are not having the calla lilies on it this time but I did ask them to put all 3 designs on the cake. We had Mickey heads, hearts and swirls. They will also be putting the marine blue ribbon around the bottom. I asked if they could put our cake topper on it but are unable to have outside items due to food regulations. So instead I ordered a white chocolate castle on top. They quited me $65 for the cake. DH doesnt know so I am hoping to surprise him. I wanted it custom but couldnt imagine having to buy a 10 in cake and having cake ALL week...blek dont get me wrong I love cake...but I just know that I would force both of us to eat it all...lol

Does a custom cake refer to the flavors? I thought Mickey heads, hearts and swirls with a ribbon and a castle is pretty custom. Just when I think I understand. I think I should stop reading this thread - though it is my favorite.

I love your wedding cake.

anyone that has had previous contact with Jessi at CR having trouble now?

I sent my first email over a month ago- we have emailed back and forth several times since and I sent my last email on 10/19 and have yet to get a reply.
I am fully aware that I am not her only cake client, but she is my only cake contact at this point and this is for DS's birthday dinner at CM-- I need to make other arrangements if my first plan is not going to work out... I suppose the Mickey head would be a 2nd choice...

I am not really able to discuss the first plan, but would to hear any ideas that you guys may have for a 2 year old boys birthday cake... flowers and choc toppers are not really fun to a 2yo boy-- kwim? (boys are so hard for this very reason!)

ohh I could ask for a real painted Mickey and Goofy I suppose?

If your last email was on 10/19, send another to follow up. Also, call Contemporary Private Dining and explain your situation. Sometimes Jessi puts on her out of office message, but sometimes, she doesn't. She may not be in the office. So even if you do send an email, be sure to call as well.
