Does anyone know if you can get the mini wedding cake with a filling? I know what I want but I'm not sure how to ask for it, or describe it really without it sounding like a $500 cake. What I REALLY want is a 2 tier white cake (maybe a 10 inch on the bottom and an 8 inch on the top) with almond amaretto filling, butter cream frosting and fondant on top....with the little stamped Mickey heads, probably in silver.

Hi! OK, first, if you want a full-sized, 2-tier cake with an 8-inch base and an 6-inch top, *do not* tell Pat you want a "mini wedding cake" or she'll be confused! :rotfl: That's a full-sized wedding cake, and the style you describe is known as "Mickey's Delight."

According to the Disney Weddings cake-pricing sheet, a 3-tier Mickey's Delight costs $425. (50-person minimum x $8.50/slice), so I'd estimate $200+ for a 2-tier version. You could see if they'd just do a 10-inch round with the same decorations - that's bound to be cheaper. And, frankly, an 8-inch would still probably feed all of you, even if little Jack has two pieces. ;)

Here's a picture of the 2-tier Mickey's Delight they include in the package weddings, if it helps. They don't tell you how much it costs in the package, but they usually give you a $200 credit if you want to upgrade it.

Who should I contact for a cake @ the HDDR? We are celebrating our DD's 9th B-day w/ my family there. I will order her a slipper for our lunch @ CRT but that is just w/ the 4 of us. I thought I'd get the cake for when the whole family is there. Plus I don't really like the dessert at HDDR. TIA

Call the Cake Hotline listed on the first page of this thread and follow the prompts for Fort Wilderness.

Then I was thinking of mini desserts from Boma's, but that's just not giving me that special thing I'm looking for, although it's still on the list.

Now I'm wondering if AKL private dining would do the small mickey head stamped cake, the one that's usually an anniversary cake. Maybe something like that with a mousse filling and some choc dipped strawberries around the base with something pretty on top?? Do you think this would be inappropriate for a welcoming kind of thing??

I want a disney theme, and I want something we would all like, and something we can have with champagne during the trip. Opinions, ideas? Please and thanks for all the help I've gotten so far!

The thing about ordering special stuff from Private Dining is that, for anything besides a cake, you are limited to what the hotel has available, and it varies by hotel. For example, you can get chocolate-covered strawberries at BoardWalk Inn but not at Wilderness Lodge. But WL may have other options that BWI doesn't have. So you really need to call Private Dining at AKL and ask them what your options are.

It's a similar story for the cake - some resorts are equipped to do fancy cakes and some aren't, so you need to call either the Cake Hotline (if you want the cake served at an AKL restaurant) or Private Dining (to have it sent to your room), describe your idea, and see what they can do for you. :thumbsup2

I ordered my DD's sweet 16 cake today! I spoke to Pat at GF. We are having it delivered to Tea. I ordered a 6 inch chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream tinted purple with a Figment theme. No fondant as DD hates it. We went with a small cake since we are on the dining plan and don't want to be eating a ton of cake. I requested no pink on the cake but otherwise whatever strikes their fancy. I hope it's good...it better be for $51 for such a small cake:eek:

This is such a neat thread!! I am planning on getting Dbf a birthday cake for his 25th birthday. He is a star-trek fan but also has his love of all things techy. He is so hard to get things for so getting cake info out of him is even harder! We will be in WDW on his birthday, but where is the best place to order that will take up the challenge of a little more unique cake? :confused3 Sometimes I just wish I could read minds. ;)

Does anyone have a pic of the Tinkerbelle cake? I would love to see one. I ordered this to be delivered to The Wave the night we have reservations. She said I could add in a white chocolate statue. I just got the 6 inch since it is only me and dd. They are going to write "I TINK everyone has the right to my opinion" around the base (my idea as my dd is getting a statue with that same saying except it says "think" but my dd and I substitute "TINK" cuz we're goofy). I really, really would love to see a pic of a Tink cake. thanks.

There is no standard Tinkerbell cake, so what you will get depends on what you asked for when you ordered. If you just had a choice of vanilla cake/vanilla frosting or chocolate cake/chocolate frosting and the cake cost $21, you will get a standard pre-made cake with the white chocolate Tink on top.

But if you put in a special request (and they charged you more) you should be getting a more elaborate, customized cake.

Here's a link to really fancy Tink cake by the Grand Floridian Bakery. The OP said they paid $140 for a 10-inch cake:

Thanks for the info. I kept asking for a customized cake. I want it specially made. I have likely been transferred to 7 or 8 people before I got the lady. I'm guessing I'm getting the regular cake with a tink statue as it was $21 with $25 for the statue. I don't really like that statue. I would have paid more, but I couldn't get anyone to understand I guess. Maybe because of the location --The Wave?

Oh yeah and be careful if you call and it is a surprise. I told them and they made a note of it. However I just a few minutes ago got a call. My dd saw the caller ID and said "Disney Contemp. I'm assuming that's the Contemporary. Why would they be calling us?" I picked up because I was afraid they would leave a message. I asked if she could call back tomorrow (my dd is gone to gym) said yes. My dd asked "Since when does Disney do surveys if you haven't visited lately or do telemarketing?:lmao::lmao:

Has anyone seen any first birthday cakes? I've looked at the sticky thread and nothing is speaking to me yet as the *perfect* cake. Any ideas or recommendations?

Thanks Carrie! I ordered my cake today. This is what I ended up with:

10 inch bottom
8 inch top
almond cake
amaretto butter cream center
fondant
silver mickey's all over (not the wave pattern)
silver bow

$150 delivered to the boat dock

I got the 10 and 8 because I figured we'd all snack on it for that second half of our vacation. Let's hope I remember to pack saran wrap and DH doesn't see it. He will think I am nuts! ;)

And I did tell Pat I wanted the mini wedding cake! :lmao: Yeah, she laughed when I started rambling on about what I really wanted and then said, dear, the mini wedding cake feeds one. :lmao::rolleyes1

So, I think I did well. At first she said she'd call me with the price and then came back and told me it would be $150.

Yay, I can't wait. I will post pictures here when we get back!

That sounds great! And I'm so glad to hear they charged you less than $200 for it - can't wait to read your report! :hyper:

Hi all,

Love this thread! Anyhoo, I want to order a special cake for my DD9 at 1900 Park Fare. I know what I want but I had a question about the adorable chocolate cake toppers. What characters do they offer? Thanks! :goodvibes

Does anyknow if the small mickey head cakes can be ordered for Boma or are those stritcly at the BW? Hubby is a diabetic and we just are not big cake eaters. But the only cake I like is the Mickey head cake. And I just think that cake is too big. I am now rethiking and might just get a small mickey head cake for me and a low sugar cake for him. a Boma said they would make it low sugar or sugar free for me. I bought the box cake mix low sugar and might try a low sugar cake and see if he likes it.

Does anyone know if they can decorate the cake toppers? I saw a star wars one. I was thinking of getting one in nautical dress? Also how much are the cake toppers.

I would ask to speak to a chef so they can fully unsterstand your vision. Because I don't think what you ordered is really what you are looking for. FYI the Contemp bakery is just as good as the rest when it comes to making specialty cakes. Just an insiders recommendation

The white chocolate statues are available at GF and most other deluxe resorts. The characters available may vary. I've seen Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Tinkerbell and the cinderella slipper (which I've only seen at GF/CRT) and the tiny white chocolate castle. There are also larger castle statues at the GF but they are very expensive.

I've seen a painted (colored) Mickey and the Star Wars Mickey. Those are probably extra (more work) and not common. You would need to ask if they'll do that for you.

When I ordered a Mickey statue (2004) at the Boardwalk it was $25 through private dining. The price varies greatly by resort and who you talk to. I also saw the statues in December in the GF Gingerbread house shop. I bought Donald for $18; that was in 2005.

If you call to inquire about them, I wouldn't call them 'cake toppers' as they are not always served on cakes. They are white choclate statues.

I've also seen them at Disney studios in a case at a cafe. They had Mickey and Minnie I think. It's been awhile.
