Ok here is my question/problem......PLEASE tell me if i'm overreacting!

We are leaving aug 25th with friends to head to disney. We are going with them to celebrate their sons b-day! he is turning 9. He has NO idea about this trip. We are surprising him with "wake up! We are going to Disney!" :goodvibes

We are all VERY excited! Today I ordered his cake for his mom. (as we can not have her talking on the phone with the disney cake line while he is around!) hehehehe

We are ordering a mickey head to be delivered to Mickey's BBQ! Yee Haw!

Here is where the dilemma comes in....

My little girl who has JUST turned 5 has been keeping this secret for MONTHS and has not blown it! What 5 year old can do that? I am SOOOOO proud of her! Anyways, I asked if they could deliver her a cake and write Thanks for keeping the secret or we love you... something to that nature. I wanted her to know that she did such a great job she deserved a little extra special disney magic too! More or less I didn't want her to feel alittle left out ;) Like I said.... if i need to chill out PLEASE tell me..

I asked her for some little girl ideas and she said....
no don't get heer a cake just buy her something....

mmmm she totally missed my point. Anyways, if anyone has any ideas of what I could do for her I would love to hear them. We are about 2 weeks away and I would love to surprise her that evening too!

THANKS SO MUCH!!!:lovestruc

The mini wedding cakes are only 3" in diameter with 1.5" cake ontop of that I hate to burst your bubble but I don't think the cake is big enough to incorporate everything you want on it.

I know it is very small which is exactly what I want. I really only want the figment topper I thought it would look cute on top of a rainbow colored cake. I don't want any flowers or anything. The candy pieces aren't needed. How big are the flat white chocolate toppers? From the pictures I've seen they look small.

I think ordering her a cake is such a good idea. You can totally surprise her that way. I would order her a cake anyway despite what the cast member told you!

It depends on the size of the cake. The toppers are on 6" and larger cakes.

was told by pat that the mini wedding cakes only come in chocolate or vanilla flavour as I asked about them for our private dinner

I'm looking at an anniversary cake but not sure what they do and cant really afford the $140 price tag to recreate our top layer of our wedding cake

Any ideas??

email from pat

the mini wedding cakes only come in vanilla and chocolate
and they are $30 each.

sorry

The mini wedding cake (with the white choc castle on top) in many posts is mass produced so it cannot be personalized very much.

It used to come in choc, vanilla and cheesecake but it sounds like it no longer comes in cheesecake.

Hi again!

Have you tried talking to Pat about re-creating something similar to but not exactly like your wedding cake? For example, our $110 anniversary cake would have cost HALF that if I had skipped the gold fondant decorations all over it and just kept the flat tear-drop shapes.

Vanessa (Figment Fan) had the Grand Floridian do a buttercream-frosted version of her wedding cake (instead of fondant) and it only cost around $55.

I think it's worth pursuing if you're willing to be flexible about the design! :)

My DD had her 18th birthday at Citricos last night (7/29). We ordered this cake from Pat at the GF bakery. It is a 10 inch round cake, marble cake, chocolate mousse filling. I requested a whimsical, Mad Hatter type of theme (we couldn't actually afford the Mad Hatter cake at $140 and up). This cake was $90.

Wish I could make these bigger. If you want to see them better, go over to the DIS Photo Member Galleries and do a search on "Christine".

That is a really lovely, whimsical cake...:goodvibes...

I am planning on having my daughter's 16 bday at WDW next October (small family party but we need some people to hold the date so we are planning early...)

I've read about half this thread and one of the reoccurring themes really seems to be that the Grand Floridian bakery is by far and away able to create the most variety of cakes in terms of both flavor and design?

So...if I were to plan a long weekend celebration for her 5 days, 4 nights...
My best bet in terms of cake selection would be to order one from GF and plan ahead tohave it in one of the restaurants there-Is that pretty much true at this point in time?

(She would definately find the Mad Hatter Style appealing-she likes design-she sews a lot-and likes a romantic effect but with a bit of whimsy-nothing too princessy-she would probably like 1900 Park Fare more than say CRT because when Cindy is there the Stepsisters are there and the Stepmother-she'd enjoy the humor and kitsch of that or we could the other way and go for Citricos since she is pretty much a little foodie too and would enjoy that ambience as well...)

...so to just verify what I think I've learned...The Grand Floridian is probably the best way to go?

Yes, from what I've seen and read your best bet for an amazing cake would be either the GF which means eating at a GF restaurant or there is also an amazing baker/cake decorator at the Yacht club resort as well. :)

This thread has me so excited! I'm ordering a cake for our anniversary and the chefs at Jiko are going to work with me to see what we can come up with. My hopes are for a Jack & Sally themed black and white anniversary cake. We'll see what they can do. :woohoo:

After months and months of planning, I'm calling Thursday. My surprise was ruined, because my boyfriend found my note in my calendar to order it (even though I had it in code... arg! He's getting too smart...... :lmao:), but he still wants me to get it, because he doesn't know what type it will be.

I shall update you guys with my experience of ordering as soon as I can afterwards.

I left Pat a voice mail over the weekend and am hoping to hear back some time this week. Does anyone know if you can get the mini wedding cake with a filling? I know what I want but I'm not sure how to ask for it, or describe it really without it sounding like a $500 cake. What I REALLY want is a 2 tier white cake (maybe a 10 inch on the bottom and an 8 inch on the top) with almond amaretto filling, butter cream frosting and fondant on top....with the little stamped Mickey heads, probably in silver. I have no clue what it will cost but we're eating at the GF Cafe on our anniversary and then taking a Wishes Cruise from the GF Marina. Ideally, I'd like the cake delivered to the boat, where our friends (inkedupmomma and her family) and my mom will meet us. DH will find it insane if they deliver it to the table and I don't let him touch it! He has no clue about the cruise or the cake. Does anyone know if this is doable?

Who should I contact for a cake @ the HDDR? We are celebrating our DD's 9th B-day w/ my family there. I will order her a slipper for our lunch @ CRT but that is just w/ the 4 of us. I thought I'd get the cake for when the whole family is there. Plus I don't really like the dessert at HDDR. TIA

If you are eating at the GF or CRT I would suggest getting her the slipper. It is very girlie and would be a nice little gift for her. However, if you want to get her, her own cake that would be a great gift for her too. How many people will be sharing the cakes? My only worry would be the amount of left over cake and the small size of the fridges to store it in.

You could order her one of the Princess Treasure Chest cakes. The cake portion is about the size of two good-sized cupcakes and comes in a pink treasure chest. There might be something else that comes with it too, but I'm not sure. They are around $15 and then she can keep the treasure chest for goodies. :)

Been thinking of getting a small dessert platter or mini cake or something to celebrate and welcome my cousins trip this november. It's just three of us (with a local cousin or two popping in during our short stay). We're staying at AKV Kidani. I was originally thinking of the white chocolate slippers with raspberry mousse and dipped strawberries, but I'm not a fan of white chocolate or strawberries....so that kind of cancels that out.

Then I was thinking of mini desserts from Boma's, but that's just not giving me that special thing I'm looking for, although it's still on the list.

Now I'm wondering if AKL private dining would do the small mickey head stamped cake, the one that's usually an anniversary cake. Maybe something like that with a mousse filling and some choc dipped strawberries around the base with something pretty on top?? Do you think this would be inappropriate for a welcoming kind of thing??

I want a disney theme, and I want something we would all like, and something we can have with champagne during the trip. Opinions, ideas? Please and thanks for all the help I've gotten so far!

This is EXACTLY what I am hoping to do for our wedding anniversary celebration! We are eating at Grand FLoridian Cafe that night. When you find out will you PLEASE post what you are doing and the cost! I need to call in a couple of weeks for our October celebration! Thanks!!!
