I don't know if anyone has asked, but has anyone ever ordered a red velvet cake? We will be celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary and I would like to order a cake. I think I will just order it from AKL since it looks like you can only get a chocolate mousse cake from Chefs de France.

Our wedding cake from the Grand Floridian had a red velvet tier and it was, well, not like any red velvet we'd ever tasted. We'd actually been warned by previous brides that it wasn't very good, but I had to try it myself! :rotfl:

It was very heavy and dense, and not very flavorful. The cream cheese filling was much more tangy and thick than the sort of light, subtly cream cheesy frosting I'm used to from local bakeries. But maybe that's cuz it was supposed to be "mousse" and not frosting. Our cake was covered in fondant, so they put regular buttercream frosting under that, not cream cheese.

Hmm maybe I should stick with the chocolate mousse cake. Thanks!

Hi everyone! The cakes look yummy! I have a quick question for you cake experts out there.

Although we will be in Disney for my DH's birthday he is a HUGE Batman fan. I was thinking of doing an all chocolate cake with just a simple batman logo on top. Can Disney do this? I didn't know if there were any copyright problems.

I think, since Batman is a Universal Parks thing (I at least, I think so), that they won't/can't do it. But I could be wrong. Never hurts to call and ask.

Hello dear DISers,

I've tried asking before but never got a response. I'm still determine to find some help!:yay: I'm wondering if any of you have a good idea for a Thumper cake from the GF. I have no idea what i'm doing and i'm trying to plan one for my sister who will be turning 24. This is her favorite character and I want it to have "wow" power! Budget is around $100-$130.

Please help! :worship:

i know it's a lot to go through here with three different cake threads, as i did looking for a camo cake, i think i came across one on here somewhere. perhaps someone will remember it and can recollect what page it was on.

:thanks: to everyone who contributes to this thread....i could look at cake pics all day and drool/dream

anyhow...I was trying to find the post with a link that shows a HUGE mad hatter cake made. does anyone remember that one?

from what i have read...in planning on a small cake for my DDs birthday, staying at the Swan, my best bet is just to wait and go to the Boardwalk bakery and order. I can order on Sunday to pick it up on Tuesday?

29apr00 WOW!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Those cake are absolutely beautiful. They must have taken you some time to make.

I made my daughter's cinderella birthday cake for last years party, equipped with enough fondant to wallpaper the house lol

This year I went with store bought, but am already thinking ahead to next year when my daughter says she wants to do Jasmine. This year was Belle.

So anyone out there have any interesting Aladdin or Jasmine pics???

I really hope you call the Grand Floridian Bakery line - and ask them - I know I've read here that its a pain to connect with someone - but I'm curious as well! And it seems like every year is different... :confused3

THanks! Good luck with Jasmine! We are doing HSM / Sharpay this year.

I'm so sad, I couldn't find the pp that has a cake themed after bambi/thumper. Does anyone know?

I will definitely be calling the GF bakery. When is too soon to call?

You're welcome. I also just looked, and Batman is owned by DC Comics and Six Flags, so maybe they will. Six Flags isn't quite the same competition-level as Universal.

Hope you find it. I thought I saw one once too...

The cake hotline says no later than 48 hours but a nice custom cake should be ordered at about 2 weeks before.

I wouldn't do it too much sooner because they have been known to loose orders. I definitely wouldn't call any more than a month out and if I called that early, I'd call again to confirm at about a week before.

I really don't think they will do Batman. I wanted a Star Wars Cake for DH and they said they couldn't do it, due to licensing. I was a little surprised they couldn't do it, but we ended up with a great cake anyway.:thumbsup2
