It seems Pat is quickly becoming a phone Favorite!

We spoke for a long time and she was soooo nice!

I am hoping the cake comes out just as good as her phone manners were

If it does .... GF has a real keeper for a cake lady:cloud9:

ETA: I asked her how long she has been working there and she said she has been there for 12 years so she is not "new"

I bet that total doesn't include the strawberries. Pat had originally told me the total for my cake would be $75 then a few minutes late remembered the strawberries & said they would be an additional $15. I also can't believe I'm spending $90 on a cake! :scared1: But it is a special occassion & I really wanted it to look like our wedding cake. I hope DH likes it after all the time I've spent thinking about it & planning it!

Looking forward to seeing & hearing about your cake when you get back.

Yeah that is what I figured too. So it should be around $74, but I will pay it, It is for my mom. I want my parents 1st trip to be special so I am doing what I can. For my dad we are getting him a Kitchen Sink, he loves ice cream! The best part is he does not know and we are not going to tell him about it. I am going to order it while, DH and My Mom distract him with checking out that cool pool.

I am really hoping this cake looks great. Last time I ordered from GF I ordered a Slipper for DH & I for our 1st trip and way late Honeymoon and they lost my order. I felt so bad for our waitress that night, she was so upset they lost my order.

WOW she has been there awhile! I know I did not talk to her the last time I tried to order.

Okay I have some pictures. We had breakfast at O'hanas last Sunday and that was perfect as usual. I had ordered a cake and was super excited. I had a 10 inch ordered but when a few people fell threw I called back and went with the 8 inch. She told me no design could be added (I had orginally went with a monorail theme). But she did say it could be festive and have Mickey sprinkles. I told her I wanted lots of color and pop. I went with teh vanilla cake and buttercream frosting. I was VERY disappointed!! The cake was a spongy type and it was soooo dull. I am so glad the cake was no bigger. They did transport it to our room at the CBR but from there it went into the garbage.

I thought that I read that too about picking it up at Mk Bakery. I had thought about doing that as well. My sister is concerned that if we do a cake at 'Ohana, we wont get the dessert there. Does anyone know?

You pay a flat rate per person for the meal, so you get everything that's included in the meal, even dessert. :thumbsup2

I had thought about picking one up earlier in the day and having it in her room when she gets back from the park. I'm not crazy about taking the time to go to the Board Walk and then back to POR.

Any ideas or advice?

If you want a cake for the room, all you have to do is call Private Dining (i.e., room service) at your resort and order the cake through them and have it delivered. :) Of course, this only works at resorts that have room service...

Awww...so sorry about your experience with the Mickey cake! I do think it looks cute, sorry it didn't taste better.

I called earlier today and left a message, so hopefully, I'll have the cake i want ordered soon. It is for dinner at Rose & Crown @Epcot. :goodvibes

Hmm Has anyone else had a bad experience with the 8in? I was thinking of doing this but Im not wasting my money if it isnt any good, mickey confetti or not.

So I have left 2 messages wanting to order a custom cake for Coral Reef for my DD 5th birthday - and have not heard anything back. I call EVERYDAY and all different times of day and just get a recorded message...

Out of frustration, I called the MK extension and a very pleasant woman immediately answered the phone, after I explained my situation, she said all she could do was transfer me to the Epcot Cake line - same recording - ERRGH!!

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck ordering a cake at Coral Reef???

In case anyone needs the numbers - this is what I have been trying

Cake Hotline 407-827-2253 - then #3 for Epcot Restaurants

Epcot Cake Hotline 407-560-6395 (the MK cake lady gave me this number)

Coral Reef Restaurant 407-560-6784 - then #2 to order a cake for a special occasion

We leave in 9 days - but don't need the cake until our 3rd full day of the trip -- so I guess if no one calls me back I'll try when we get to the resort

I would LOVE any advice you might have...

I will definately post if I get a callback

These are ones that are not really able to be customized. They are frozen sara lee cakes. If you want a "disney baked" cake you will have to pay for it. I believe they are 10" cakes or a Mickey head cake. The 8" cakes are plain and can have Mickey sprinkles and such. I had the Mickey head cake and it was WONDERFUL! But, it was $48 but I would do it again. I have heard too many negative things about eh 8" cakes and will not order them. You actually dont have to order them, you can ask for them when you arrive at the restaurant. The custom ones have to be ordered. Good luck!

I just ordered a cake for my son's birthday at the GF.

I spoke with Pat ~ I guess Linda is no longer there?

Pat was super super nice! We spoke for a long time :goodvibes

The plan is to make a Pirate fondant cake ~ nothing babyish as my son is 12. Skull cross bones ...she said something about a chocolate pirate ship :confused3 has anyone seen a chocolate pirate ship on a cake?

NO flowers ~ she said they can do it in blacks and reds and whites. I am excited and can't wait to see what shows up!

Oh please please please post pics when you return. We will be there for DS's 10th birthday and I know he would love this. Did she give you a price??

Well the chef just called me and said Pat was not in due to a family emergency. She talked to me about the cake ~ we swapped ideas and she is going to call me back tomorrow with a price.

The cake will be in the shape of the mad hatter cake EXCEPT it will be black and red. She said they have a white chocolate skull and mentioned a few other cool things... I am guessing about $120 for it as the mad hatter cakes run about $120-$130 or so. I am sure they can make a smaller cheaper version but I wanted something extra special for our first night and my son's special birthday dinner:goodvibes
She does understand that he is 12 and would rather "cool" pirate style rather than kiddie style ~ lots of death and destruction ..skulls and cross bones ...blacks and reds :lmao: Not the princess cakes you normally see unless one of them is hanging from the gallows :rotfl:

I will make sure to post pics of it when we go =)

Wow! Thank you so much for helping me with that question. I think I am going to go with the 10'' so I can get the full effect. Its worth it for $10 or so more. I would love so much to get a villain screen shot but it would cost $30 more. Im fine with settling for just sprinkles or something as long as I can get the peanut butter cup filling. Yummm!

See I had no idea and when I called to change the order the lady said not one word about it being a diffrent cake. I would have stayed with the orginal 10 inch and paid the extra money if I knew it would have been customized. I just know I learned my lesson, I'll stick to PUBLIX cakes:goodvibes

That sounds like an awesome looking cake! My DD9 would love that, especially if it had a Minnie on top! We're planning to celebrate her b-day at CRT when we go this October. Can't wait to see the pics!:goodvibes

Awww, I'm sorry your cake didn't turn out to be what you expected. For what it's worth, I thought it was cute and at least looked yummy! That's good to know though that the 10" is the custom cake you can get that will taste good. Thanks for posting your experience!:goodvibes

So I have been speaking to Teri at SSR about cakes. She mentioned that Disney is trying to set the whole cake order up over the internet soon so customers wont have to call in.

I bet its just for the generic cakes you order at the podium.
I am going to *guess* the custom made cakes will still have to be called in. I could be wrong ~ but I think the chef likes to talk to the person to be sure they are on the same page.

Brooke,

I am just wanting to order the Chocolate Cinderella Slipper for our CRT reservation. I am dialing the cake hotline number at the beginning of this thread...then I hit #4 for MK. That is when I get the wonderful recording!!

Oh no! I left a voicemail yesterday on the Epcot cake line as well. I leave in 8 days, but I don't need it until our 3rd day as well.

*crosses fingers that it turns out well*

So I guess things have changed then :confused3 I thought the 6" cakes were the ones you get not customized when you order at the podium

I don't see any reason why any of the main bakeries can't make anything happen that you want. What about these cakes; they are not 10" or bigger and they look pretty customized to me

Here is my birthday cake :) It was absolutely delicious
$65.00 + tax & gratuity ($35.00 for the cake and $30.00 decorating fee)

1900 Park Faire at GF
8" Yellow cake with white chocolate mousse filling. Pink fondant with Cinderella's slipper on top filled with whipped cream and raspberries. I also asked if they could put a few flowers on the top and it looked perfect!!!
When I had called Linda was on vacation and the woman who helped me asked the chef if they could do something like I had asked. When she came back to tell me they could she gave me a choice of 8" or 10" so we went with the 8".

We got for something like $35-$40 an 8" white cake with white icing for my dd's bday a couple of weeks ago. Delivered to 1900 Park Fare at the GF. It was beautiful and extremely delicious.

I think it all depends who you talk to it seems like. I will be having my birthday dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and would like to have a special cake made. I don't need a bunch of decorations or anything, the only thing I want special is the be able to pick the flavors (icing, cake, & fillings) I want. Should I order from the YC bakery and have it delivered at our dinner since so far they seem to be the only one that can get anything right...or I could order from the Boardwalk for pick-up after our meal?
