Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

To clarify, I was thinking along the lines of this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1601839. I think it would be great to add the cake, filling, & icing options, along with the appropriate phone number below the location, then post the links.

Wow, that thread is neat! It is very organized but it sure looks like it was a whole lot of work for the OP.

It might be tough to have a thread with all that info (phone number, cake options, filling, icing options etc...) for each resort and restaurant since not everyone knows all of that information. Some of it might be posted throughout this thread though but might be difficult to find and organize.

I give the OP of this thread a lot of credit for what she tried to do. It's a lot better than what we had before, which was nothing.

I can't wait to see what we end up with in the future though. :)

It was and Kelly has done an amazing job with it.

Anyone willing to do the legwork and create the initial data as to what each resort is offering?

Or an indexed thread to pictures?

This thread is fast approaching its life expectancy (250 pages :)) and then part 2 will be started!

Was there ever any consensus on cakes at Pop??

As I am taking it now, call the cake line, follow the prompts to get to Pop, leave a message, someone calls back, I make my order with a CC and pick it up at the food court...right?

That is what I ended up doing. I can't remember his name, maybe Rob, I have it written down somewhere. Anyway, he called me back, took the order, and said it would be ready to pick up in the food court on the day. He did say no way no how on delivery. :confused3 Probably because except for pizza delivery, they don't have room service, so no one to deliver it.

I'll post an update and pics when we get back!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info. I did get a call back from Chef Ernesto for the POR and POFQ who said he could assist me in my cake order but I was not home to get his message so I left him a vm. Glad he called back. I will be sure and ask about the delivery cost and if it's too much I'll just run over and get it. (We will have a rental car). :) Thank you again!!

Please post what you find out! We are thinking of doing this at POR for my parents 50th anniversary! Any and all details-what is avail, etc, and delivery details, would be wonderful! Thanks!!!!:goodvibes

I know this may be a silly question, but is it okay to celebrate a b-day with a cake even if it's not ocurring during your stay? My ds will turn 3 one week from the last day we would be there and it would be such a special pic to have from his first trip there.

Of course, you can.:flower3: :flower3: :flower3: You can celebrate birthdays, anniversaries anytime ath the World:wizard:

I talked to Ernesto this morning who was very nice. He offered the 6 inch for $12.50 no customization on it or the next one up the 8 in. in either choc. with choc. fudge frosting or vanilla w/white choc. frosting and filling. He said I could have an inscription as well. He said the bakery at Riverside Mill at POR is who actually makes the cakes. He said they don't deliver but I could pick it up at the bakery. $25 plus tax and took a cc number from me to pay for it over phone. I asked about them putting a grad's hat or diploma on it as well and he said he would note that on the order. I bet if I wanted I could call POR front desk and ask for a runner to send it to our room but I don't have a problem getting it myself and taking it back to the room. So I'll let you know how it turned out. We will be there tomorrow and he said it was no problem to have them make it by then and it would be ready by 4 pm. PERFECT:cool1:

Thanks!!! You should be getting back right around the time I should order... not having it delievered the room isn't a biggie... I was having it done on our pool/P&P Party day so I can easily get it and set it up in the room while DH and DS swim...

Thanks for the info! We will need probably a 10" or bigger.. there are 16 of us going;) I wonder if they do those as well? Prices seem reasonable there too.

I ordered a Zebra striped cake for the night we eat at Boma, to thank my parents for taking us (me, dh, dd, sister and sister's friend). It came to $35...but I cannot remember for the life of me what all the flavoring was. LOL

Here are a couple photos of the Zebra Striped cake. It was delicious. Vanilla cake with some sort of filling. and the frosting was really good too. :)

Bumping for Birdiegirl. Here is some Zebra Cake INformation. I believe it is supposed to feed 10.

Just got this at the Coral Reef for my DH's 30th birthday. :) Thought it was super cute and tasty too. It was $12.50.

That's so cute! I thought according to the info on the first post that small 6" cakes couldn't be personalized?:confused3 Our family of four will be celebrating hubby's birthday at Ca Grill and I wanted to order a cake for him, but nothing larger than 6". Who did you go through, and what options were you given? Thanks!

Hey Laura,

When I ordered that cake, I spoke to the people at the Coral Reef directly. I don't know if you can do that with the Cali Grill but it couldn't hurt to try! When I spoke to the CR they asked what kind of cake and icing we would like and then what I wanted the message to say with the cake.

Technically, the cake itself wasn't personalized, the plate it was on was. That's a great alternative for not being able to personalize 6' cakes. :thumbsup2

All restaurants should offer to do that.

Sorry to ask, but my search feature won't work.

I saw that the Beach Club is listed on the first page. Anyone had any experience ordering a cake from them? I'd appreciate any feedback, even page numer and posts numbers would be great.

Thank you so much!

Here are some pictures of the cake I had this past Monday. The bottom layer 8 in was chocolate with a dark chocolate moose filling and butter cream frosting. The upper layers were vanilla with butter cream. I got it deliver to our room at the GF. It was about 94 including delivery charge and tip.

spacec47, that cake is beautiful! Can I ask how it was ordered? When I ordered a cake last fall and asked for flowers on it, I pictured getting something like you did but what we got was 2 little silk flowers that were hardly noticeable. I ordered through Linda, who everyone raves about, but I was terribly disappointed in the whole experience.

I ordered through Linda too. There was suppose to be a mini white chocolate castle on it, but instead there was a 3rd layer. Try to be as specific as possible when talking to Linda or anyone else. Also try sending a pic if you can find what you want.

Don't feel too bad about not getting the mini castle, it was another disappointment. As you can see in the photo, it sorta looks like it had started to melt at some point. I had ordered a yellow cake with white icing, with the mini-castle and LOTS of icing flowers on it. I wanted it to be special for my friend's 50th birthday. I called a week in advance and got bounced around because Linda wasn't available but I was told I HAD to talk to her, and her ONLY. When I finally reached her, she kinda gave me the bum's rush. Anyway, in the positive column, my friend said it was very tasty (I couldn't bring myself to eat it), it was inexpensive ($28), and I got to use our DDE card so I saved 20%. Our server brought it on a Royal Doulton plate which helped to dress it up -- too bad we couldn't keep the china! We'll be back at the GF for DH's birthday this fall and I'm not looking forward to dealing with the cake issue again.
