Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

I think it would also be great to have a list of cake, filling, & icing options for each location. I agree that seperating everything by location would be the biggest help. People are much more likely to look for info on their hotel or restaurant of choice than they are to look through all the offerings to find one they may be able to order. IMHO, the lack of specific info is the reason so many questions are repeated.

I doubt if this is possible, but does anyone know if you can order a cake for one of the counter service restaurants?

We have an ADR for CM in the evening for my DD 5th bday, but we are not big eaters so I think ordering a cake for then will be a waste because we won't have any room left in our stomachs to eat it!! My DD loves having cakes for bdays even when its not her bday.

So I was wondering if we could order a cake at lunchtime somewhere to have with a drink.

Any ideas?

Do you mean a seperate thread for each hotel and restaurant?? :scared1:

No, only a seperate listing for each, similar to the food porn thread. I'm thinking listing the location w/ cake, filling, & icing options, then including links to the pics of the cakes purchased there.

does anyone know if the GF bakery would deliver to Old Key West???

No, the GF bakery is only for the GF guests and restaurants and weddings.

Possibly if you were staying at Concierge at one of the monorail resorts you could maybe arrange it at a hefty cost though.

I believe an OKW cake ordered through the cake hotline would probably come from the Boardwalk Bakery.

You could get a small mickey cake at Boardwalk bakery... they are $3.00 or $4.00 and sooo cute!

They also have larger cakes there as well.:goodvibes

I am looking for some ideas for a special celebration.

Our youngest daughter came home from S. Korea in June 2002, and our Disney trip is scheduled for June this year. I know that the Disney restaurants will recognize birthdays and anniversaries, but is there anything we can do to celebrate the anniversary of our youngest daughter's arrival?

For many years we celebrated our twins' adoption from China with a Forever Family Day celebration dinner at a Chinese restaurant, but since Ashley came home she had so many medical problems and attachment issues, we never did this for her.

For those who don't know us, we are Kim & Greg and we have been blessed with three children through international adoption. Kaitlyn & Jessica are 12 years old identical twins from China, and Ashley is 7 years old and was born in S. Korea. Ashley has a number of special needs including spina bifida (she walks without assistance) neurogenic bladder, PDD-NOS (autism spectrum disorder), ADHD, reactive attachment disorder (much improved ) and failure to thrive. She also had Nissan fundiplication surgery for GERD last June and has a Mickey button.

I feel like since we finally have most of the medical issues resolved, and Ashley is in a great Verbal Behavior Autistic Support class with regular Kindergarten, and she is making great progress, it is time to celebrate as a family.

Ashley adores her sisters, but they often do not want to include her in their activities partly because they are twins, and partly because they think she is a baby because she has behavior issues related to her PDD-NOS, and still wears diapers due to the SB.

I am thinking I would like to recognize all three girls (not just Ashley) as an anniversary celebration of when they all became sisters. Something that would make them all feel good about being together, instead of something just for her that might make the older girls jealous.

Does anyone have any ideas of what we can do? What do people usually do for birthdays and anniversaries? Would their be any kind of button that would be appropriate for this type of celebration?

Right now we have ADRs for:
Norway Princess Lunch
Teppan Edo
Park Fair Cinderella Lunch (Ashley will be dressed as Cinderella)
Ohana breakfast
Mama Melrose
also, Chef Mickey, but this one is really late at night, so unless I can get an earlier time, we may not be able to keep it

I am really thinking the best meal to do this would be the Ohana breakfast, because Lilo and Stitch was the first movie we all saw together after Ashley came home, and because there are so many references to adoption throughout the movie including:

"Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten."
"This is my family. I found it all on my own. It's little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good."

Thank you for your help!

We are just back from 1900 Park Fare...we celebrated DD's 10th birthday. We told them at the podium when we checked in and they offered this free cupcake. They also presented her with the crown she is wearing, it's really beautiful and has Happy Birthday written in gems and jewels. A little boy was celebrating his birthday next table over and they gave him a golden prince crown, very cute!

Has anyone ever had a special occasion cake delivered to the Swan? Can they make them there? Celebrating DD's 18the birthday this August and was wondering if this was possible...Or might it be easier just to order one and have it at one of the restaurants?

We stayed at the Dolphin in Feb. for DH's birthday and I ordered a cake from Boardwalk Bakery and just walked over there and got it at about 7am on his birthday. There is a photo of it farther back in the thread and it was very good. I would order another if it was one of our birthdays or not!

Aww she look's so cute!!!!!!!

I'm also looking to get a special cake for an upcoming Birthday trip. We are having dinner at Park Fare on this birthday day and I was wondering if I could order a special cake to be delivered to the table.

Has anyone done this?

The other thing I was thinking of doing, totally different idea - was to order a cake at Publix and have it delivered to the resort. Does anyone know if wego shop would do the deliverying of this cake if not is there anyone else who could deliver? Publix has some cute princess birthday cakes.

Thanks for any help/advice you could give me.

I like the Publix cakes too so we will be ordering two of them (DS~8thbday! DD~6th bday!) and wegoshop will be delivering them. I emailed them a while back to make sure and Marge wrote me back and said that they could do that, but I forget the details ~I need to get on the ball soon to order my groceries and cakes for our June trip. We may even go for a 3rd cake:scared1: for my Aunt who is also celebrating her BDay on our trip for that we are thinking of the Zebra Cake from AKL since that is where we are staying. I'm wondering if wegoshop can deliver icecream too to go with the cakes.

We had a cake from Publix for our wedding cake. It was from the ''Groom Cake" selection - the "Macho Mocha" ? But we substitued yellow cake in the middle and fresh strawberry filling. OMG it was delicious. :thumbsup2

Our wedding was in a 2 bdm Villa at OKW and we had no idea that we could have it delivered - arg! My youngest son drove it over in the trunk of his rental car - very slowly:rotfl2:

For our first anniversary (in about 10 months) we are planning on ordering the mini cakes of our wedding cake - it was so very good!

Yum Yum good to know! We are going to do a yellow cake with the strawberry filling for DD then since DS loves Chocolate ~but really only eats the frosting and filling I think we will get chocolate frosting and chocolate filling but we have to decide if we want a triple dose of chocolate and do chocolate cake or maybe go with yellow.
