Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

Here are pictures of a cake GF bakery did for my son this week. We are here as part of his graudation celebration. I can't tell you how DELISH this cake was. It had White choc mousse filling and frosting then the layer of choc/white choc topping. All the decorations were made out of chocolate incudling the mortar board and soccer ball. Now I am trying to figure out how to get the decorations home. Any suggestions?

Where did you get this cake from? My sister is celebrating her graduation when we go down in 25 days and I'd love to have a cake that has something to do with graduation!

i just read the 1st 80 pages of this thread throughout the day!!! i cant read anymore!!! lol where i stopped off the grand floridian was being pretty difficult with specialty cakes and picking up im staying at OKW and really want to get a special cake for my moms birthday i was wondering if anyone knows if theyre being any less difficult now that it's a year later and if they let people pick up again thanks!!!!

I'm also looking to get a special cake for an upcoming Birthday trip. We are having dinner at Park Fare on this birthday day and I was wondering if I could order a special cake to be delivered to the table.

Has anyone done this?

The other thing I was thinking of doing, totally different idea - was to order a cake at Publix and have it delivered to the resort. Does anyone know if wego shop would do the deliverying of this cake if not is there anyone else who could deliver? Publix has some cute princess birthday cakes.

Has anyone had an all chocolate cake from BW bakery? I'm thinking of getting a cake for my dh for Father's Day when we go in June and he loves chocolate cake but only if it's moist.

How about the marble cakes there? Would that be a better choice?

How can we make this thread better? It is fast approaching the maximum thread size (at 250 pages, we start a new thread due to performance issues)

What information would you like to see on the new thread? That is not too burdensome to maintain?

I am willing to start the new thread and list different resorts. Is anyone interested in doing an index for the new thread? (The food porn and recipe thread both have index threads)

Because things do change, something easy to maintain is important.

So, given that, how can we make the new cake thread improved? Let's hear your ideas!

As far as I know the mini castle wedding cake is a specialty only available at the GF.

It's so hard to figure out the best way to organize a cake thread. People will always want to comment or ask questions or provide information so it's kind of hard to make a thread that is just photos and another just for info/comments/questions unless it is run by a moderator and they get photos sent to them to add to it and the thread is locked and a sticky.

Maybe in the OP of the cake photo thread, they could have a link for submitting a photo and write "click here to add a photo to this thread" and have it be an email to the OP and then have a "click here to comment, ask questions etc about the cakes you see...." and have it be a link to a cake thread that's just for questions/comments.

I haven't got a clue!!

I also love this thread. Up until a few weeks ago I never knew there was a castle cake, slipper dessert, chocolate Mickey and strawberries and also Tink. I want them all!!! I've learned so much thanks to all you savy posters out there and beleive it or not I've read every post on this thread. Keep 'em coming.

THESE all look so good... I know we are going to be getting our DD4 the Slipper Dest cant decide if we want to do it at CDT or Narcoosees - but I am starting to think I may do the mini castle at Narcoosees and the Slipper at CRT....

I find that the same questions are asked over and over on here, so I would ask that subscribers, or, new posters read through the thread before posting as this would cut down on the size for sure. I totally understand that people may not have the time to read the whole thread, but believe it or not, some of us have and continue to do so, in order to find the info for ourselves. This is why the thread is so big - there are a million different posts asking the same questions regarding slipper and castle cakes, so perhaps a resort specific cake thread could be organized? This way, they would be much smaller and more manageable.

I love looking at the photos and since I read every post on here, it gets very difficult at times to find specific photos, so just having photos would be great, but again, I think people would still ask questions as most people don't seem to want to search for the info themselves - I know this as I'm an English teacher. Most people don't read their responses, nor, search for similar responses before posting, so threads get very long.

I love this thread, and it's been a big help in planning out a special dessert for our daughter's upcoming birthday celebration at WDW in May.

My thoughts, two threads, one for pictures and comments about cakes only. One for ordering info, and perhaps a table of contents to FAQ's. Just my thoughts.
