I called the publix on vineland. I ordered the Winnie the pooh watering hole cake. That they will not deliver :sad1:. But I ordered it anyway. One thought is I am having the room decorated they said they will pick up the cake for me and have it in the room. Now I am paying $100 to have the room decorated soooo, but I was going to do that anyway so this way I get the cake in the room as well. Let me know what wego says. Oh and the cake I ordered was $45 with custard and strawberries.

Good News www.wegoshop.com will deliver cakes I had emailed a question to Marge Peck who is in charge of the delivery service in the WDW area and she just emailed me back and said
"I have delivered birthday cakes before...any
questions on doing this, call me directly at 407-432-5044 during the
day...Marge Peck, Associate Owner"

I don't know if the rates would be as follows (as it is for groceries) or if would be a different fee for a cake delivery. ~I'm hoping it is not extra
Shop and Delivery Rates:

Grocery total up to $100.00 = $17.00 shop & delivery fee
Grocery total between $100.00 - $200.00 = $22.00 shop & delivery fee
Grocery total between $200.00 - $300.00 = $32.00 shop & delivery fee
Grocery total over $300.00 = 12% of grocery total shop & delivery fee

so it looks like if you are just ordering a cake you will need to tac on $17 (might as well order a few groceries while you are at it!)

This is one of the Publix Cakes that would be perfect for DS~8th BDay!

Thanks for all your hard work angiepangie. This is a wealth of great information. Those cake certainly do look awesome! I may have to order from wegoshop rather than from WDW.

I order from Marge all the time...her service is top notch. My only concern about ordering a cake and having her deliver it would be the logistics. I normally arrive at 11 am...Marge tends to deliver consistently to us between 3 & 4. I head to the parks, she drops with bell services...works great! Except, I would wonder if they would store a cake that large?

If they'll store a mini-fridge for a month, I can't imagine why they'd have a problem with storing a cake. Of course, it would be best to call before ordering to make sure.

Hi, I am new to this board and have a couple questions. First, we are taking our twins (boy/girl) to disney in April to celebrate their May birthday. We chose April because they have alot going on in May. I have two questions....

Does anyone know if they will recognize the birthday since the twins won't be there on their actual day?

Which are the best places to get the cake? I wanted to get one at the beginning of the week...and one towards the end. I was planning to get one at Cinderella's Castle...late lunch first full day there. We have ressies for Ohana the first nite. Towards the end we have Chef Mickey, and the last nite the whispering canyon cafe.

Disney doesnt know if you dont tell them a "real" date. We celebrated DDs birthday at Garden Grill 2 weeks after her actual date, and had a cake. I would order the cakes, have it noted on your ADRS and no one will question it or give you a hard time. Have fun!

Anyone ever brought a cake home (for people driving a car)? My grandson is a huge Mickey fan and his b-day is Saturday. We will be returning on the 28th. DD14 voted no to taking him with us plus he should be with his mom on his b-day. DD24 has college and can't take the time to go with us. I'm just curious as to how a cake will do. There are only 2 of us going in my car so putting it in a cooler with plenty of room would not be a problem. Does the bakery on BW place the cake in a cake box? I love the mickey cake on the 1st page. Any feedback is most welcome. Thanks

Hi,
Does anyone know if they will recognize the birthday since the twins won't be there on their actual day?

The CM put noted on every single ADR we have for the week of DS's bday that it's a bday celebration. When I noted that we were only doing 2 bday dinners she said that "a celebration shouldn't be limited to just dinner" and put on every breakfast and lunch ADR too!

If you are worried about it just tell them you will be celebrating a bday. No one will ask you anything.

The restaurant/bakery will put the cake in a box for you to transport the cake, you just have to ask for the box. If you let them know prior to picking it up that you are giong to be transporting it in a car they might offer some tips on getting it home in one piece. My ils drove the leftover cake that we got my FIL home in their camper's fridge. I would imagine that if you put the box in a plastic bag of some sort and them put the cake in a cooler with ice it should be fine. But I think I would definately mention it to the bakery and ask for their suggestions. Good luck.

Here is the cake I got for DH at Chef Mickey's. Nothing real special but he was surprised and liked it.

And here is all of us with Minnie after she gave DH his birthday kiss.

Thanks! I am going to call back and make certain they put it on all our reservatios!:cheer2:

Here is a cake I ordered in October from the Poly. It was delivered to our room on the first night. When I called the lady told me the 8" was not able to be personalized, other than the message written on it. The lady i spoke with told me I could have chocolate cake with chocolate filling, or white cake with white chocolate filling. I went with the white cake option. She also told me it would have a few flowers on it, and that was basically it. SO, I was plesantly surpried when this arrived.

The otuside icing left a lot to be desired- it was really think and not too tasty. But the inside was great and we enjoyed it. I would love to order another cake this Oct for in-room Poly delivery, so I am interested to see if anyone else has Poly cakes they have ordered.

Has anyone ordered a cake from the WL bakery?

I just called to order one for DH and my choices were a little more limited than I expected. I did not have the option of a strawberry custard which is not the biggest deal. The thing that surprised me is that they will not do any sort of character design on the cake. I asked if we could have Mickey and she said they are very limited in design and only do simple flowers.

Just curious to see if anyone has had any different experiences with the WL bakery.

BTW...We are having the cake delivered to our villa and not having it at the WCC if that makes a difference.

If you go to page 176 and look at post 2631 I have a picture posted of the cake that we got my FIL at WCC and comments. It wasn't themed like I would have liked but it was incredibly tasty!

We were staying at Ft Wilderness in this past September and ordered a cake from the WL. They delivered it to the Trails End for us to pick up. It was a 10 inch marble cake with chocolate filling and chocolate gnauche (sp?). It had bright flowers on it (sunflowers and irises) and they wrote "Happy Birthday" on it. The cake was beautiful and one of the best tasting cakes I've ever had.

anyone ever order a cake through the Garden Grocer???

I emailed them about a week ago and still haven't heard anything back! I wanted to see if they would do a design.

Has anyone had any luck getting a mini wedding cake recently? Near the start of the thread someone has a replica of their wedding cake...

For those of you wondering, I contacted the Dolphin to find out about ordering a cake for son's B-day thru them. I was referred to concierge. When I finally got ahold of them, I was told that yes, the Dolphin does do cakes but that they start at 10 inch for $55. She also confirmed that if they are allowed to do Disney characters, their selection would be very limited. The girl I was speaking with asked if I would have a car and I said "Are you going to suggest I go pick one up from the Boardwalk Bakery?" and she said "yes" and kind of laughed. I thanked her for her honesty. They are going to decorate the room for me though including balloons and a signed card from Mickey, and take care of getting the cake to the room while we are all at dinner. :thumbsup2

My son has made a few different requests so I am going to call the Boardwalk Bakery tomorrow and see what options are available for me to pre-order and pick up....I'm will be mentioning that I am staying at the Dolphin so I will also inquire about delivery options which judging by my little helper at Dolphin, I'm gonna have to pick it up myself and give it to her prior to said room b-day party. I will also be providing her with our chosen decorations. If they do even half the job that POFQ did for us when we did this for DS's 7th B-day this way, we will all be very pleased. She also told me if I think of anything at all, please contact her, because they can set up anything I'd like. At the moment, our plans are to spend his actual birthday at Epcot (DS's choice), have lunch in France, and head back to the resort a little early so we can have dinner with Goofy and Pluto at Garden Grove, then go back up to our room for the Surprise Birthday Party Mickey set up for him and then watch Illuminations from one of our balconies! :goodvibes

Also, in case anyone was wondering cake 25C ( I think - Happy 7th Birthday Nicholas with Peter Pan) on it was his cake that year. It was a chocolate cake with white frosting. I agreed to pay some crazy amount but all they charged me was $25 (now speaking of the POFQ), they not only picked up the cake and delivered it, the manager himself decorated the entire room for us, provided napkins, matches and cutlery...and did it all while we were on our scheduled carriage ride....Fabulous. My son really believed his pal Mickey had done it all just for him! ;) :wizard: :woohoo:

We had this one in Sept at the GFC. It is a wedding topper she said. And I asked for it to be bigger than they usually do at 8 inch.
