I want to order a small cake for my DH for his birthday in December. We'll be at the Coral Reef for dinner. I read a lot of posts, but didn't see any cakes from the Coral Reef. Has anyone ordered a cake from there and how was it? I don't need a large cake, but could share with other diners. I saw a Mickey Dome cake and someone asked about it a few times, but I never saw an answer. I would like that cake also. Does anyone know where I could get it? It was covered in chocolate and looked delicious!! Thanks!

That was me and I still dont have an answer as to where it came from LOL but I wont give up I just wait and ask every few weeks

Hi Patricia

I'll repost from page 2 of this thread (I was cake #20)

We did CRT in Oct - it was my mom's birthday - then DD bday 3 days later... I loved the streamers and Mickey Confetti on that table - gorgeous, I'm pretty sure they got a special placemat that the Princesses signed, as well as signing DD autograph book - which my Mom just loved getting their autographs btw!!

Since it was breakfast I didnt order a cake, but they did bring the cupcake, and like you mentioned, wasnt sure if they'd eat it, so I had brought 2 ziplock bags!! I think they shared one and I brought one back to the resort - anyway it was a cute dome shaped chocolate cupcake with confetti candy on it - and was moist and delicious!!

I posted about ordering the $12 -$15 Cake - NEVER again. Unless they make it on site, I think they do deliver them frozen... but again I could be wrong.

The castle cake I believe is very small and cost $25 (again dont quote me!) When I called the Grand Floridian to arrange this special cake the CM there talked me out of it and promised we'd love the Chocolate cake best - she was right - melt in your mouth!! It is made at the Grand FLoridian so I believe you have to have a plan to pick it up there, or like us just go ahead and reserve a 1900 Park Fair Dinner - its Buffet and Delicious...

Also note, the kids eat a lot, and a lot of sweets, and a lot different than home, they are extremely excited, so for me, I belive they'd love sharing a cake - it was big enough for our party of 4 adults and one child we ate less than 1/2 small pieces I'll admit - but we took it back to the resort!!

I truly believe things have changed since our Oct trip 2 years ago - I believe you will have a magical experience, and I do believe it will be possible to have a "Goofy" Cake at LTT - just know, if it is frozen, and the icing is falling off, and not to 'quality standards" you should complain to the manager at LTT and they should take it off your bill!!

This was the cake I ordered for my 21st birthday last month. It was a 6 inch from the Grand Floridian, vanilla, with butter cream frosting. I also had the mini fondant castle added to the cake. For both the cake and the castle I believe it came to around $25 or so. Just thought I would share in case anyone was interested. It was a very delicious cake.

Wow, that is lovely. Were you offered any options other than white or chocolate?

Yes it is very cute and simple.
I just wanted something small since it was hot outside, plus the dinner.
Most pple wouldnt want a huge slice of cake, and I did not go with many pple.
So for the price it was well worth it.
If you do order, I hope u enjoy!
Have a wonderful birthday trip!

Colleen27 - I do not believe I was offered anything than vanilla or choc. if I remember correctly. But someone else maybe able to give you a definately answer on that, or the bakery and inquire about it.

Lucky for my husband the mickey topper was still in the freezer. He said it measures 6 1/2 inches tall. Hope that helps.

Sorry, yeah, I meant 16D, the one with the Mickey topper.
If it wouldn't be too much trouble to measure the topper, I would so be in debt to you... :thumbsup2 As long as DH didn't toss it out.
Also, did they just do the design on the sides of the cake or was that something you asked for specifically?

I love that cake, I think our Mickey and Minnie topper would look great on it!
My DF also thinks the white chocolate cake, raspberry mousse and the white chocolate frosting sounds absolutely delicious!

Thanks! That was a pic of our wedding cake from May 2003. Our ceremony was at Seabreeze Point (near the Boardwalk hotel) but our reception was at the Living Seas. We wanted to pick a cake that celebrated the location - we thought they did a lovely job!

Subscribing... We will be celebrating 2 birthdays on our next trip (16 and 40) so this thread will definitely help me out!

Perfect! Our cake topper is 5 1/4" tall. Thank you so much for taking the time to measure that for me.
So glad for the hubby that he left the Mickey topper where it belonged. :thumbsup2

Thats so great, I am so glad you can use it, because it is so cute.

Good luck with your wedding, CONGRATS

Has anyone ever had a cake delivered to a room at French Quarter? If so, do you know who made the cake? And most important, how was it?

I think (but am not positive) that the Boardwalk Bakery handles the majority of the resorts. Obviously, those resorts which have their own bakery don't get them from the Boardwalk.

I found that it was very easy to call the cake hotline and just get my questions answered. The girl I spoke with at CBR was very helpful and not the least bit bothered by having to answer my questions months in advance of our arrival.

I was on the phone today with the manager (Alicia) at Coral Reef to request a diver for my DH's birthday; while talking to her, I asked if I should call the cake line or the restaurant directly when it came time to order a cake. She said to just call the restarant and they would take care of it!!

Just a tidbit of info for anyone ordering a cake from Coral Reef in the near future!

Here is the cake that I had ordered for my 2 DD's graduation...one from pre-school, the other from high school! The board reads, "Congratulations and Happy Graduation!" We also had our diver with the sign and the personalized menus!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We have ordered cakes at CM's, 1900 Park Fair, CP, CRT, and other places, but this one was the best tasting hands down!:cloud9: Vanilla cale with vanilla icing and berry decorations...oldest DD's favorite!

We had a little mishap with the camera, and that is how we met our diver, in person. We later recognized her at The Seas with Nemo and Friends, where Little Sazzo became her dive buddy. We were taken backstage, thanks to older DD, to get our banner and have some one on one time with her while looking down on the entire aquarium!pixiedust:

Sazzo'sMommy, what size was your DDs' cake? It looks very pretty! There's only three of us so I didn't need anything too large.

Has anyone ordered the Mickey face cake lately? Is it from the GF or where did you order it from? I know it was $45 or so last time I looked, but has that changed?
Thanks!

Actually, when you call the cake hotline, there is a series of prompts and it directs you to the restaurant or resort that you want. There isn't someone answering the "hot line" number. The hot line was probably just created to have one central number to call which helps so you don't have to keep track of different numbers for the restaurants.
