Hi!

So at 1900 Park Fare, what are my chances of having an 8" $25 cake, personalized ("Happy Disney Birthday Mums") with some type of fruit in the cake?

also, are the only choices vanilla or chocolate for that cake? or could i request orange or lemon cake with the buttercream icing? Thanks!

Kerry :O)

We picked up a cake from the GF Bakery last Saturday for my DD's 4th birthday. It was just as we ordered...an 8 inch vanilla cake, vanilla buttercream frosting, filled with custard and fresh strawberries, decorated with a white chocolate screen-printed Mickey and Minnie, with hearts and flowers at the base. It cost 40.00...expensive compared to cakes here at home, but as far as Disney prices go it seemed a reasonable cost to get what we wanted. It would only have been 25.00 but the Mickey and Minnie decoration was an extra 15.00 on top of the cost of the cake. It was very good.

I ordered a cake just like this for my parent's anniversary. I think there are a variety of choices with respect to filling and icing. I am not so sure about the cake portion itself. However, I got the feeling that the GF bakery would try to give you whatever type of cake you want, if they can at all do it.

OK, I think we have decided to have my bday cake delievered to our resort room rather than getting one at a restaurant so we can munch on the leftovers all week. :goodvibes

We are staying at AKL in a non-concierge room. Can we do this there? Has anyone done it recently?
Thanks!

Here are some of pictures of the cake that we had at the Plaza for my ds' 3rd birthday on 10/17. It was 3 layers white cake with with buttercream icing. Mickey was on top. The cake was enough to feed 6 adults, 2 children, and an infant. We gave 1 piece to the waiter and the rest to the people sitting next to us.

It was actually pretty cool what they did at the Plaza. The waiter came out with the cake and yelled "Hey everybody guess what?" and a couple of people yelled "what" and he chastized those that didn't answer and said it again. Once everyone yelled back he said something along the lines of "We have a very special guest celebrating his 3rd birthday! Let's all sing happy birthday to Nicholas" and the whole place started singing. I was so happy. It was very special.

Anyway, here they are ...

I don't even remember. I think it was $25.

My Mom & I ordered Cindy's Slipper Dessert for us to enjoy at our Garden View Lounge Afternoon Tea on our Mother/Daughter Trip! It was almost too pretty to eat! I did say...Almost! :lmao: It was so yummy!

So, my DH was trying to surprise me with a cake for my bday next week. Disney is making it so frustrating for this poor man that he broke down and told me about it.

We're staying at the BC. Their cakes choices are boring: chocolate on chocolate or vanilla on vanilla. He tried BW Bakery (the number on the first page actually gets you to the BWI and they wouldn't transfer him directly to the bakery) and was told that he cannot pick up a cake from the bakery and carry it back to our room. :confused3 Why the heck is he being told this? Can anyone confirm that they RECENTLY picked up a cake at BW?

I am wondering if we should wait until we arrive and just attempt to order in person from the BW bakery. Anyone done this? Please help if you know anything. It's really putting a damper on the celebration.

I totally did this in May. Maybe try to call back and speak to someone different. I picked the cake up, in person, at the BW Bakery and carried it off. I don't know why this is so difficult....

I'm sorry the surprise was spoiled. Your DH was trying to do such a nice thing for you and it's a shame there had to be all this drama. I'll be ordering a cake too and I hope I don't encounter the same problems.

somebody posted an email address last week for the GF re ordering a cake and now I've lost it, if the person is reading this or anybody else knows it please post!!! :confused3

We just got back last night! I had ordered our cake from the GF bakery about 2 weeks beforehand, and I was a bit nervous about how it was all going to work out. I ordered, and received, the 4 layer cake with the rolled fondant and the gold stamped Mickeys on the side. It had gold beading around the bottom and the mini-castle on the top. I had asked about putting Tinkerbell up there too, and was told no problem...yep, they put her up there also. It was chocolate, with chocolate mousse filling. We had decided to forgo lunch and told David our server we were skipping right to dessert. So...out he came, huge platter in hand, and announces to the entire restaurant (GF Cafe) that someone was having an extra special day....Katie was turning 13!!! Could everyone sing to her??! It was incredible. One of the CMs there took a terrific photo of Katie getting her cake, and presented it to her before we left. David took an enormous amount of care, and time, boxing up the cake for its trip to Boston the next day. Seems they didn't have a small enough box for it....now I have a ton of GF towels for my use since that's what he used to pack up the cake. It was absolutely wonderful.
So, thanks to all of you for your great help/hints here on this thread...sure did make a 13 y/o feel extra special!!!

Just wanted to update. I ended up making calls myself, LOL.

I first called the BW Bakery - the number on the first page that actually goes to BW private dining - she transferred me to the front desk call center who transferred me to the Bakery itself. The man who answered didn't speak English and simply transferred me back to the private dining ... and she hung up on me, accidentally. I called back and - whew - she told me that it's not usual but she would arrange a pick up for us. She explained, however, that I could get better, more interesting filling choices if we went to an 8" cake ... hmmm, I thought maybe BC would tell me the same thing so I told her I might call her back but I wanted to check with BC.

BC had the same answer and same cake choices. Obviously cheapskate DH - really sweet but a bit scroogey about some things - didn't want to pay the big bucks for more choice. I think there's a really good chance that BW Bakery make BC cakes, LOL. So, I over-ruled him - he'll learn not to put it in my hands, heh - and got a larger cake. I am getting a vanilla cake with strawberry custard filling and chocolate buttercream icing. Delivered on Monday. I will take pics and report when we return!
