Sabre2th I hope that Mickey cake is available in chocolate for your son! :wizard:

cheerbop I am the same position as you are! I just HAVE GOT to order a cake for my summer vacation - all these pics and stories are too tempting! I might get a cake for DD (11) and her friend (9), for our first night's dinner. Thinking about asking the bakery to write "Welcome to Walt Disney World" and their names :thumbsup2
A Disney vacation is reason enough for a celebration, don't you think? princess:

We are going in September.
We want to order a cake, but want an "excuse" to do it.
In early Oct is our son's 10th b-day, but maybe it is too soon to get him a cake there?
It is also the first visit for my parents at WDW....would ordering a cake for their first visit be odd?
My other childrens' bdays are in Mar and Dec and then our Anniv is at the end of June (our 15th!!) and my parents' anniv is in Feb.
So, what "occasion" could I use as an excuse for a cake, in your opinion?!:goodvibes

heck no that is not to early remember your at the most magical place on earth! All your dreams come true here remember???:rolleyes1

We will be coming down in Sept. also and both us are celebrating our birthday (mine was in March and his in August) and our 3rd ann. together(not married or engaged:sad2: ) so this is the only time we can take a vacation together and celebrate so we are blowing it out big time, go and enjoy your CAKE. what is that old saying you can't have your cake and eat it too well I have to dissagree at Disney you CAN have your cake and eat it tooo.:wizard:

I've thought about just ordering one fairly good sized cake, and simply have, "CELEBRATING THE MAGIC" written on it. That idea might work for you too.:wizard:

I think you've got the perfect idea, cheerbop!
The good thing about getting the cake the first night is that you can nibble on it during your stay. Ning would hurt worse than to have a lovely cake only to leave half of it behind!:sad1:

I'm still not 100% sure what I'm going to do about my cake(s) yet. I do think that early next week however, I'll start making a few phone calls to WDW and find out more of what my options are. I'll be sure to pass along any new or intersting information I may get though. :flower3:

Yep. I going to get mine day 1, and I'm taking a bakery box in case they don't give me one. And I'm just going to get buttercream, so it won't melt, though I guess if you got whipped cream you could cut slices, put them on paper plates in your luggage, cover them, and put them in the fridge. I did that at DL once with a birthday cake I had ordered locally and took with me. ha-ha.

Question: How much does the delivery usually cost, if you get it for your room? Like 18 percent plus a delivery fee of a few dollars?

Thanks~!

Yeah that would but I think since its a special thing for us I am def. going to happy birthday on it.

I can't wait until Sept.:goodvibes

I think wise minds think alike. My son is 8 and autistic also. I tried showing him the zebra cake. He said" zebras taste yuk. Mickey cake please." So mickey cake it is.He will have his wish even though its my anniv.

I called the cake hotline selected AKL and then Jiko/Boma, and the lady who answered said they can deliver to your room too. All I inquired about was round white cakes, so I do not know about what kind they might have in terms of simba.

She told me to call 1-2 days before I want the cake delivered.

Thanks for the info. Can't wait to order.

 Yep, I guess both our boys have good taste!
Whose going to make your cake, and when are you guys going?

So - I can call the cake hotline and order the slipper dessert for my DD to have at our GardenView Lounge Tea? Can anyone post a photo of this dessert for me?
Thank you!

We're not sure yet if the cake hot line is going to be just cakes or if they'll also handle the slipper dessert. The hot line is so new we just don't know yet.

My guess though is for this you might have to call the GF bakery directly but I'd try the hot line first. They'll be an option for the GF resort. Press that and go from there.

This is the slipper dessert as it is served at the GF:

We are going first week in Sept. I haven't ordered my cake yet. They said it was to early:sad1:

Yes, too early. I was told by the girl at CBR that I should call within the month that we arrive with at least 48 hours notice.

Thank you so much for this thread! It had given me some great ideas for my son's 3rd birthday. My problem is my husband... He doesn't feel a cake is worth the extra money because we are having a family party for him at home and a small party at his preschool. So the question is, is the small "extras" they give like a cupcake enough for a 3 year-old that is very aware of his birthday and the need for cake when having a birthday party?

He already knows we are going to Disney in October for his birthday and says we are going to have cake and he is going to make a wish. He acts out the whole thing. It is adorable! BUT I am worried that a cupcake at Chef Mickey or something else they may bring when they know it is a child's birthday may not be enough. I saw some pics of cupcakes on this thread... Was that one of those magical extras they provided or was it ordered, bought, and paid for???? Please advice! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

My cupcake at Chef Mickey's was included (and a surprise since I am a grown up). Mark the bday on the ressie and maybe make a discreet mention at check in and you will be good to go! Also, those $12.50 pre made cakes really aren't that bad. We had one at Garden Grille (that was pre-arranged not requested at check in) and it wasn't frozen looking or tasting.

Hi there! Magic happens when you least expect it. But then again don't go "expecting it". That is my absolute best advice. He will more than likely get a cupcake with a candle on it. But if you want a cake or something more special, I advise you plan ahead and make it happen.

It is my understanding that at Chef Mickey's they offer a small cake, no frills, that has Mickey on it. But it must be ordered and paid for. Perhaps someone who has purchased such a cake can elaborate.

I don't mean to burst you r bubble. I just don't want you or your son to be dissappointed. I wish you lots of "Magic" just the same.

Blessings,
Winnie

Your son will be thrilled with a cupcake - once he sees Mickey and the Gang, he will be a goner anyway :wizard: A fancy bday cake for him will really be for YOU anyway ;) So either order it if you have your heart set on it, or appease your husband and just have the bday noted on your ADR. Also mention it at check-in and make sure your son has on his birthday badge!!!
Have a great time :cheer2:

Anyone know about the brownie bday cake seen on this thread? It looks really small... Wondering if it is like the cupcake or is it a small cake that was ordered?? Also wanted to know where the pic was taken???

Thanks for all the previous advice and information!!!
