Thank you so much for the info. Now is it your soon to be husband that works at the Yachtsman? How soon should I order the cake? I have read a couple of different things. Thanks Deb

Deb -

Yes my husband is the Chef of the Yachtsman. 7-10 days is good, but you can call and get some information and pricing sooner.

Have a wonderful Anniversary trip!!

I just wanted to say that we ate at the Yachtsman in September for the first time for my birthday and that was by far the best meal that I have ever eaten at WDW!!!!! I absolutlely loved it and I loved the service. We had eaten at Narcoossee's the night before and it didn't even compare.

Thanks for sharing - I will let him see this. Most of the time Disney only hears of the bad experiences not the good!!

Have a great day!!

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to get some clarification before I call to order a cake for my upcoming trip.
I order a cake back in 07 but it seems like there have been lots of changes.

So here's what I need:
I would like the cake to be delivered to my resort, SSR on arrival day. From what I read it seems like the boardwalk bakery makes them, so should I be calling the bakery or SSR or the general cake hotline and they will pass the order on to the bakery? (I don't want the cake to be in the room when I get there, just later that same day though)

There will be 5 people there so I really don't need a huge cake, and I just want vanilla/ vanilla anyways, but there is a specific image I would like scaned onto the cake. My last cake had a picture of Robin hood on it, and though I can't remember the exact size, it was most likely the 6 or 8. Now it seems like they will only scan an image onto the 10in? Can someone please comfirm that, since I think that will be way to much cake. Also has anyone had luck with emailing them an image to use. This will be a graduation cake and there are several characters in one image I would like to use.

Thanks for your info!

Our DS(17) chose to eat at Nine Dragons for his birthday dinner. There's little feedback on cakes at WS restaurants. Plus, there's only 3 of us, so I'm looking for other options. Does anyone know if the WS restaurants offer anything special (i.e. slippers, choc. dipped strawberries, etc.)? I realize these are only available at certain restaurants, none of which are WS restaurants, but thought this would give you an idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for the help. :flower3:

Depends on where you want to celebrate?

We have ADR at Sci Fi (couldn't get Fantasmic dinner package...yet) They don't know Lilo and Stich they aren't big movie fans. The girls likes princess and of course High School Musical. The boy likes pirates.

I cannot wait to go back to Yachtsman! We will be at WDW for 14 nights in August and we will be visiting Yachtsman at least 2 times for dinner. :)

Last year my birthday cake was from Boardwalk Bakery, but we might have to try a Yachtsman cake this year.

I did make a point of telling Mark that we had a FABULOUS experience with food and service. :thumbsup2

Thank you Brenda, I 'm sorry I thought your ticker said soon to be married, I did not realize you were already married!! Glad to hear your husband is the Chef at the Yachtsman, I cannot wait to try it! Thanks for the info, I think I may call to just get some info and then decide what it is I want!

Lurkeloo thanks for the info also.

I can't believe it yet that I actually am going to be in Disney for my 20th anniversary and no kids!! :cool1: Well my kids are older but they still wanted to come with us!! :rotfl2: Deb

Well usually ganache has kind of a mousse-like texture, but in this this recently posted picture it looks more like a bundt cake with sauce on it :rotfl:

Hey...:confused3 I called it ganache because someone else on here previously ordered this cake and called it ganache. I don't know what ganache is. :p Whatever this was, it was good, but I do think that it could have been described as having a mousse-like texture so maybe it was ganache. Again :confused3

Well I may have to order a second cake for our upcoming trip just to get to the bottom of the Great Ganache Mystery! :lmao:

All I know about ganache is that its made out of chocolate and cream. The more cream you add the more runny it is and it can be used as a frosting for cakes. If you use less cream it will be thicker and thats how a lot of chocolate truffles are made!! Yummy!

I have b/g twins turning 5. I was thinking of just getting Minnie and Mickey since I couldn't come up with a theme they'd both like, so that was kind of neutral. Instead I decided to order the new mini cake surprises for each of them. One princess and one pirate. I don't think they have them at SciFi though.

Heather~ Please post a pic of the mini cake surprises when you get back! I ordered 1 for DS and I can't wait to see what they look like. Thanks!

We went to Chef Mickey's for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I am not a picky person, but I did NOT like this cake. The cake itself was pretty, but it was about 80% icing. We threw most of it away.

I wonder if they could find a picture for you with princess Minnie and pirate Mickey? Like the pictures for the Pirate and Princess Party?

Our cake from Chef Mickey's last year was the same way, far more icing than cake.
