I called the GF yesterday and had no problem ordering a cake for our upcoming visit

I got an 8" yellow cake, white choc mousse filling with buttercream frosting, pink fondant and Cindy's slipper on top filled with whipped cream and fresh raspberries. It will say "Happy Birthday Mommy"

I can't wait to see it and taste it :lovestruc

Sounds wonderful. Make sure to post a pic when you get back.

Has anyone gotten a cake at an Epcot restaurant lately? I was wondering what varieties (size, cake, filling, & icing) they currently offer. (I have looked through the threads.) Also, does anyone know if Nine Dragons, or any of the non-Disney owned restaurants, uses the Epcot bakery? My DS chose to eat at ND for his birthday dinner, & I'd like to get him a cake. His birthday is next month, so it's a little early to be calling. TIA for anyone that can or is willing to help. :flower3:

I'm looking to order a fondant Mickey head for my DS's birthdays. Does anyone know where I can order it, find a pic and how many it feeds?

TIA..

We got this one at Chef Mickeys... It was pretty large and YUMMY!! There were 4 of us and we ate on it twice so I would say 8 people easy!

What was the cost of the fondant Mickey? and did you order directly from Chef Mickey's, or from a bakery and have it delivered?

Well, I took the plunge today. I ordered DH's birthday cake for our Wishes Cruise.

Since I wanted a white cake with chocolate frosting I HAD to order the 10" (my only complaint since that is WAY more cake than we'll need!).

The gal who took my order had the chef call me back (she said tomorrow - he called within 5 minutes of our call ending!). I said I'd found a cake I liked on line (classic/classy looking - white chocolate scroll work on the chocolate frosting) and he asked if I could e-mail him the image so we could discuss it right then. (of course, I could!)

I said I wanted something similar. It didn't have to be an exact copy and he was happy to oblige. I also asked if they could possibly put some hidden Mickey's in there and he said that it shouldn't be a problem (but not a promise). He laughed and said if we couldn't find them on the cake it would be because they hid them so well! :rotfl2:

They will deliver it to the pier for a $3 delivery fee. (can't complain about that!)

I'll be sure to post a picture when we get home (but that won't be until March...)

Oh - for the Wishes Cruise, we had to call a different number for "private dining", not the numbers listed on the first page.

Would anyone have an idea of what the GF bakery's White cake with white ganauche would look like. I ordered this...I is not what I wanted, but they didn't let me order what I wanted so I would like to have an idea of what to expect. I am worried I am going to get a piece of crap that looks like a bundt cake with sauce on it...This is sooooooo not what I am looking for.

I tried googling ganauche icing but all I found were cakes that look like they had sauce on them so this is why I am concerned.

TIA

Hey guys,

I have been lurking on this thread and watching all the lovely photos pop up and I'm hoping you guys will have some advice.

My sister who has Downs Syndrome is turning 48 at the Poly next month. I want to do something during her birthday dinner. She is obsessed with Hawaii and so we are doing the dinner at Ohana. There will only be four of us, and Ohana always has WAY TOO MUCH food! I would like a cake, maybe something like the little white castle cake so we could each have a bite of it... but that does look way too small. What would you recommend? I definitely don't want anything too large? If we don't eat it that meal, it'll go to waste.

I'm curious to see the new ones that are offered for $15 for the Celebrations... So, that might work. Any suggestions?

misslissa - I'd probably just go with one of the small ones for the celebration then. Even the 8" cakes would be more cake than it sounds like you'd want. Since you have her favorite theming covered with Ohana, just a small fun cake would probably suffice - based on what you shared.

I'm sure it will be your basic round cake with colorful sprinkles on it with either white cake/white frosting or chocolate cake/chocolate frosting. I don't think they have enough room to personalize them.

Well usually ganache has kind of a mousse-like texture, but in this this recently posted picture it looks more like a bundt cake with sauce on it :rotfl:

I celebrated my birthday last Monday night at Spoodles. I had a 10” vanilla cake with (I guess is it ganache?) icing and strawberry mousse filling. The cake was very good. It was from the Boardwalk Bakery. I decided that I didn’t want buttercream icing; I worried that it would be too sweet and filling after having already been on a Disney diet for a week. They lowered the lights and the servers brought it out to me singing Happy Birthday. I had also ordered 8 chocolate covered strawberries – one for each of us. Those were on a side plate and weren’t decorating the cake.

It was $48.00 plus tax and gratuity. I believe they made it there at the Contemporary because when I asked to have "lets cruise" on the cake they said the contemporary bake team would see what they could do. It was a very good, very rich cake. You get the choice of chocolate or vanilla cake. We of course got chocolate. They bring it out during the celebration time at Chef Mickeys. I called Chef Mickeys directly to order it.

Thank you it was my birthday cake, I have no clue of cost - my husband wanted my 1st birthday with him to be over the top and it was!!

It was done by the Pastry team at the Yacht & Beach club - so any restaurant in any of the 2 resorts. You would have to call and see what they can make - choices do change on what is available - I've learned in the past.

Thanks so much , it's just so hard decideing on the right cake to get for my DD's 11th b'day .. i will keep searching!
Thanks again :thumbsup2

Ok I will be in Disney from 2-10 - 2-17, my 20th anniversary is on the 11th, we have ADR's for the Yachtsman steakhouse, our first time dining here. Anyway I would love to have a cake here, of course I don't need a big one as it is my husband and I, but I don't want to order the sarah lee one either. Now I think I read on here that they have their own pastry chef? I do have it notated on the ADR that it is our anniversary. I was looking at the mini wedding cake but is it correct that I would have to have that at a GF resteraunt? Any ideas on cakes we could have from here? We are having dinner at Narcooses also first time there on the 14th, and I thought maybe I would get the small wedding cake here too. Does anyone know how much they are? Thanks in advance for any help. Deb

The Yacht and Beach Club have a in house Pastry Team including a Master Pastry Chef. If you call in room dining and say you want to order a custom cake and you would like a mini wedding cake - they should take your name and number and have a Pastry Chef Call you back. Pricing will depend on size and detail of the cake.

lso let them know that you will be dining at the Yachtsman Steakhouse - you will need the name on the reservation, your reservation number, time of the reservation and a credit card(only a hold) your credit card is usually charged at the end of your meal for the cake. If you go back on this thread there was a mini wedding cake made at the Y & B for a dinner at the Yachtman Steakhouse- during the 1st 2 weeks of December.

Have a wonderful Anniversary Trip!!!!

Thank you so much for the info. Now is it your soon to be husband that works at the Yachtsman? How soon should I order the cake? I have read a couple of different things. Thanks Deb

How far ahead can you order cakes and do CM and CP have the same cakes? We are going to both, but will be at CP on my DD's actual birthday. Also, is there a number to order cakes or can I call the restaurant? Thanks!

Anyone order the new celebration cakes? Princess Box or Pirate Treasure Chest? Any photos yets?? Their $15 each and available at character meals.

Love to see what they look like.
