We got back a couple of weeks ago and I FINALLY have cake pictures to contribute. We ordered the "Anniversary Cake" for our dinner at Citricos for my DIL's. It was fantastic and very yummy and they loved it. It was $55

That's a georgous cake and not a bad price either. Looks like it tasted delicious.

I think this cake would have been even more adorable with the white chocolate Donald statue available at GF! :thumbsup2

Please pardon Donald's messed up beak; I dropped him:

Did you ask for the "anniversary cake" when you ordered? I am now thinking of doing one when I am there and was wondering how you went about ordering this. Was it through the cake hot line or did you call GF directly?

Again, that is so nice!! I bet that really made the night special!

Yep - I requested the anniversary cake and got it, although I was told that it is only for people who got married at WDW. But I begged a bit and said we were trying to get my DIL's to have their 50th at WDW. I called the cake hotline and was transferred to speciality cakes at the GF.

Oh man - that was not even offered, nor did I know about it. The Mouse would have certainly gotten more of my $$$$ had I known about that - it would have been a must have! :goodvibes

OH MY LORD! That's a great topper!

And I'm not much of a cake person, but this was some
realllllly interesting frosting and the strawberry mousse
middle was perfect.

I sent this thread to my mother, she wrote back:

The pics are awesome (I know...I have them too) and the comments are really interesting. It appears that as this idea takes hold, people are going to want to do this at every visit. Disney has a potential GOLD MINE here...as if they don't already know it...but I certainly didn't know anything about this.
.
.
...I still think the cake surprise at Citrico's was a sensational ending to a super duper trip. <TyRy> is a genius...she's in the wrong field. Does <her employer> have any idea at all of her immense talents? [Editor's Note: Does her employer know about the Disboards, LOL]

Are you both going to do another disboard story of your trip complete with "illustrations?" [Editor's Note: heh!]
Oh, I've still got the white roses and they are perfect. Need any decorations? lol

I don't think SSR has a bakery so I don't think a specialty cake could be done, but a quick call to the cake hotline will answer that. As far as ballons and decorations, you can always have that done through Disney Florist. If you are wanting a cake and plan on going to the grocery store anyway check out Publix, there is one near Celebration.

I just ordered a cake last week. It was delivered to SSR but was made at the BW bakery. I requested a mickey cake and it was delicious. Cost with tax was 51 dollars and change.

Anyone know which places other than GF offer the chocolate characters? Not specifically Donald or Mickey but in general. Thank you.

I've seen them at the GF and I ordered a white chocolate Mickey at Boardwalk Resort for our room (through their in-romm dining) and I've also seen them in a candy store (that also sold hot chocolate and pastries) in Disney Studios. They were sitting in the candy window. I can't remember the name of the store though.

I'll bet other deluxes and home away from home resorts can get their hands on them too.

Do you always get a call back from the answer machine for custom cakes? I left a message on someone called Linda's phone yesterday. I dont know whether she can call internationally as I am in the UK. Anyone have an email address that I could send her an email instead? thanks for any help you can give me., I am getting married in 4 weeks and hoping for a lovely cake.

I recently did this for a friend in September. I think I called about a week before and paid for it with my credit card. Yes they did get the cake. I saw pictures and it was beautiful.

THANK YOU! Now I have a bit more confidence in doing it! They're going with another friend that I could give my information to but I'd really like to take care of everything.

Thanks again!

Any time I've called I've gotten a reply back. If you've waited a few days (thinking they might be busy with the holiday and all today), I'd call again for sure! :goodvibes

Good luck!

Thanks for that, do Boardwalk Bakery deliver to any resort, thinking about organising something for our room at CSR or at our meal at Crystal Palace.

No, I don't think they do. Only to the close DVC resorts (Boardwalk and Beach Club).

I meant that I ordered a white chocolate Mickey to be delivered to my room at the Boardwalk Resort (through their in-room dining).

For those who've ordered the cute Mickey Mouse face cake I have some questions if you don't mind. What size is it and appx how many will it feed? Also is it 2 layers, if so what type of filling choices? How did you handle the 'Happy Birthday' message, as page one of thread says no writing can be added. We need a couple BD cakes and not feeling much magical help from Disney. TIA for your help and ideas. :goodvibes

I'd like to order a special custom birthday cake to be served at dinner. Should I contact the restaurant or the Yacht Club In-room dining?

How creative can/will they be? Thanks in advance for any help!

with the mickey cake, at the poly i was offered vanilla or chocolate cake, both with chocolate icing. i was told i could not have it personalised. i think it greatly depends on where you get it from as to whether you can get it personalised or not. it'll still be a nice surprise for DH though either way so i wasnt too bothered with whether it had a message on or not.
btw it was $48 plus tax

Thanks for the clarification, back to the drawing board.:goodvibes

Does anyone know if the tables in wonderland discount is applied towards the cake as well - we have a special one ordered for our park fare dinner - thanks! Whip
