Thanks Newtodis.

I assume it's the one Theresa has listed as:
8" cake with picture of character $42.00 (they do have a Nemo and friends picture)

Sounds like what you had. I thought that you had somehow gotten a custom cake. Anyway, since you say it was so delicious I think I will go ahead and order that!

When you say the pictures will 'reset', do you mean I will be able to see them on 10/21? Is it because you have it posted on photo sharing site? I don't mean to be a pain, but is there a possibility of you pm'ing me the photo? I'd really appreciate it!.............:)

It was custom-not the podium one. Yeah I can try and PM it to you-if I can't figure that out I can email it to you. :goodvibes

I need cake ideas, please. My girls and I are celebrating Thanksgiving with my brother, sister in law, 2 nephews, and sister in law's mother. My sister in law, as well as my brother, are celebrating 40th birthdays on this trip. This will be the first trip for my nephews (7 and 4), first time back to WDW for my brother since 1986, and only the second trip for my sister in law and her mom. My sister in law is not a HUGE Disney fan (yeah, I know...what to do?? :confused3 ), but she is very excited about this trip. We will be dining at Spoodles the evening of her birthday, and I want to do a cake from the Boardwalk bakery. Since she isn't a big Disney fan; there really aren't any favorite "characters." Her boys love Disney movies, though. I wanted something really special with an obvious Disney theme. I'm open to all suggestions. I had thought about the Minnie cake that was posted a while ago, but I wondered if anyone had other ideas.

Thanks!!

I would call and see what they can do for you-I'm sure they'll have some amazing ideas. Maybe since she's not a die hard Disney freak, stick with a basic Mickey or Minnie theme??

Hi all! I unfortunately haven't been able to read more than a few pages on this thread but I was hoping someone could help me out. We were married at WDW in Jan 2007. For our upcoming trip (leaving in 2 days!) I'd love to get a recreation of our cake, which was made by the GF bakery. Now the obvious choice is to get it delivered to a GF restaurant but we won't be going to any of them on our trip. We are however going to Ohana on our first night. Can the Polynesian bakery make the cake and will it be the same as if the GF bakery made it? Oh btw I want it to be a surprise for my DH. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

I don't know that anywhere else can reproduce it especially at this short of notice. I'd certainly call them right away to see what they're able to do!

good luck!

I called CRT today to order our birthday cake. They said the 10" was the only one they could put an image on - so that is what I ordered. A 10" chocolate cake w/chocolate buttercream and it is suppose to have all 6 princesses on it. It was a bit of a sticker shock of $75.00. But it is a special birthday celebration. BBB & CRT.

I read in a review on allears that you pay a 18% tip to the server for the cakes. Is that correct? I'm just trying to budget where I can/what I can.

Yes the tip is added right to the bill for the cake. Our cakes were all on a seperate bill from our dinners/meals.

We have an ADR for breakfast at 1900 PF the morning before DD´s birthday (we´re also leaving that same day and staying offsite for her birthday). Do you guys think I could order a cake for 1900 PF and not have it brought to our table but just take it with us instead?

We have a breakfast ressie for Crystal Palace on her birthday and she keeps saying how Piglet and Eeyore are her favorite characters but it seems that Disney can´t make Pooh and friends cakes, correct? Has anyone had a really cute cake delivered there? The ones I´ve seen haven´t really appealed to me.

Should I maybe just order a Piglet cake from Publix instead and pick it up the day before her birthday?

does anyone know the current price of the mickey head cake including tax and gratuity?

also do you know if they poly does this cake? i'm looking to order it for our ohana dinner

one more question, do you know what the flavor/filling choices are for this cake?
sorry for all the questions but DH is sat next to me so i cant call disney until monday.......

Need some opinions please. I'm ordering a cake for dinner at Cape May, we are celebrating two anniversarys and a birthday. I know I want a 10" cake, most likely marble, but I'm stuck on frostings and decorations. We have a picky crew, no fruit for sure. We have die hard chocoholics and others that prefer vanilla or white chocolate. Any ideas of what combinations would taste good to all of us?:confused3 And need cool ideas for decorations. LOVE the previous cake from BC, but a little dark for our crew.

I just returned and am already planning our next adventure to the World...

We are going in March and doing a family trip. We are staying off property but will be doing dinners both in the parks and at resorts.

The two places I am thinking of ordering a cake is either at Coral Reef with a lunch or at Cape May Dinner. Cape May is at the very beginning of our trip so that one would seem to make more sense since we would have left overs all week.

Who does a better cake??? It would be for my husbands birthday only he wont have a clue because the date is actually the week before. So it will shock him.

I have not done a cake at either restaurant however we did do a cake at 1900 Park Fare with chocolate and white chocolate fondant for the icicng. It was very good. Does either restaurant do this fondant?

I know that the GF restaurants offer supposably better cakes from their bakery but I was wondering how the others would be?

Any info would be great. These two restaurants our out of my realm of knowledge :lmao:

DH and I celebrated my big 4-0 in WDW in mid Sept. We decided not to get a cake since it was just the 2 of us and we were doing free dining (i.e. lots of desserts). However, here are some pics from my b-day celebration:

Dessert from 50's PTC:

Breakfast (on my actual birthday) was at 1900 Park Faire. Here is the tiara they gave me with my b-day cupcake and Mickey who poses in all of our food pictures:

We had my birthday dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse (YUMMY!). This was my birthday dessert. They also let me order a regular dessert too (can you say STUFFED!):

Florida-MomsBirthday-123.jpg

My bouquet of flowers from our mousekeeper. She gave us about a half dozen towel animals during our 1 week stay.

Birthday treat from Boma at breakfast 2 days after my b-day:

Just a few of the b-day cards DH arranged & brought along for me. He is SOOOOO sweet! :lovestruc

Florida-MomsBirthday-181.jpg

B-day treat from dinner at LTT. This was really yummy IMHO.

Florida-MomsBirthday-194.jpg

And this is the b-day basket DH had delivered to our room when we checked in. Did I mention how sweet he is? We had left our 2 kids at home this trip, so we wound up taking all of this candy home for the kids. They liked that!

I think I have a few more pictures. I'll post them next.

Right now many on this thread seem to think that the Yacht & Beach Club bakery is doing the most interesting cakes - despite the Grand Floridian's reputation as the place to go for a custom cake. Following that, then, it'd be better to get a cake at Cape May than Coral Reef (although there have been some nice-looking custom cakes from Coral Reef posted too!). :goodvibes

Hmmm that is interesting to ponder.

Ok so I tried to go back and look for cakes both at coral reef and cape may but couldnt find any pics.

Does anyone have any they could post from those restaurants. Sorry to be a pest but I am hoping for some ideas :confused3

Quoting myself... :) I called the Polynesian bakery today and spoke to a very nice woman. She took down the information I wanted and called me back about an hour later. She said their vanilla cake is the same as the yellow cake we used for our wedding cake, and they are going to try to replicate the Bavarian cream mousse from the GF bakery. She even asked if it was a surprise and made sure to note that. This on fairly short notice too -I was very impressed! I will be sure to take a picture and report back here!

Freja - we have had the best cakes from Publix! If you have any doubts about a Disney cake from the resorts or restaurants, I would go with the Publix cake. Have a great time:thumbsup2

Karentan, I was just about to ask the SAME question! :lmao: I would be interested in the answer as well.

i've just answered my own question!!
phoned the poly cake line tonight to order the mickey head cake and its $48 + tax

This was our cake at the Coral Reef in August. Not the fanciest but really yummy.:thumbsup2

We will be celebrating our 21 year anniversary  at Narcoosee's. I would like to do something special for DH. Should I call Dis dining and let them now of call narcoosee's directly? Any suggestions on a fantastic cake?

Thanks so much Linda.

From what I have been hearing the Beach Club resort makes a good cake. I think that is where Cap May is and since that is our first night I might get one delivered there.

Question though, can you have a diver and the personalized menu thing if you dont order a cake at coral reef? I know nothing about the cost or how to set it up but think that would be kind of cool to do for DH.

Yes, you can, if there are "slots" available, since they only do an X amount of divers per day. However, I believe you can always get the personalized menu. Both diver and menu are free!

Unfortunately there is no word on the divers for 2009.:sad2: We really enjoyed this and I was hoping for a repeat experience for DH and mines 20th anniversary next year. I guess we can only cross our fingers and hope:goodvibes You can see a video clip of the diver on my trip report for DD's 18th.:thumbsup2

I'm looking to order my DBf a birthday cake; we are probably dining at Chef Mickey's. Would this be possible? Also there are only two of us and I'm looking for something small but special - what would you recommend?
