I found this picture on the first cake thread and it is almost what i want to order for our upcoming anniversary trip. We will have our kids with us so i want to make sure we have enough cake and I also want a nice cake. We never got to have a wedding or cake so this will be real special. So my question is do they still make this kind of cake and how would i explain it to them. I want it to be decorated exactly like this but with maybe a square bottom cake and a smaller square cake on top. We will be staying at the GF and would want it delivered to our room.

I just LOVE the Mickey and Minnie cake topper and the gold stamped mickey heads. Any info on how to order this would be great. Thanks

It it very similar to the one I just had...

Call the cake hotline and follow the prompts to order for the Grand Floridian:
Place and order for the "Anniversary Cake" with "Mickeys Delight Pattern" and the "White Chocolate Mickey and Minnie Topper"

You can then discuss with your planner the shape and flavors.

My cake was 8in with only one layer and it was $70. I admittedly don't know if they can do a Square, or do it in more than one layer. I'm sure that would probably cost more, but I hope this helps give you a starting point...I will hopefully be posting pics of ours this week! :thumbsup2

Do you have to order the Cindarella slipper in advance at 1900 Park Fare? Do you pay full price for it if you´re on the DDP?

Yes, it must be ordered before you arrive, at least 48 hours before and no, it is not part of the DDP so you will pay the full price for it.

Sandy321 - For the 3 layer cake, I believe he said it was a 10 in. with the Painted Tinkerbelle is costing me 85. I will have lots of pictures. I will be returning on 10/14.
Anyone going to the HDD at the 5pm show on 10/10, help us sign happy birthday to my lovely daughter.

Hey all!! Just back last night from our vacation! We got a custom cake at both GFC and CR. I will post pictures some time this week of the cakes.

GFC - I checked in and asked about the cake. There was nothing on our ADR and it took them FOREVER to find it in the back. They did bring it out eventually. Corbin's birthday cake wasn't what I was picturing in my mind. I ordered a Cars themed cake and a vanilla mini-castle cake for DMIL. What we got was a Cars themed cake with vanilla and chocolate fondant. The Cars picture was a stand up on chocolate of all of the Cars from the movie. That part was very cool. It wasn't very "kiddie" though-very grown up looking. Would have liked something a bit more fun. As for DMIL's castle cake, it was a cheesecake one-not what I'd ordered. It worked out. She enjoyed it.

CR - Here I'd ordered a vanilla cake with white buttercream in a Nemo theme. After getting the first cake, I really wasn't sure what to expect. They seated us and gave everyone their personalized menus and soon after getting our drinks the divers swam over and showed the boys their signs. The large turtle laid at the front of the tank almost our entire meal. DS1 just kept pointing and yelling "Crush! Crush!!" and "Shishes!!!! Shishes!!" (fish) I would eat here again just for the atmosphere! We finished out dinner and the waiter brought out the cake at the perfect time with candles lit and everything! DS4 blew out the candles all by himself (this is huge for him-he's NEVER done that before!!!) and excitedly cut the cake. This was a much more traditional styled cake that I'd pictured in my mind.

Out of the two, CR was much less of a hassle to get the cake and the presentation was amazing! DMIL and I both liked this cake better than the GF cake. (I'm pretty picky though!). DH preferred the GFC cake over the CR. DS4 loved both of them :goodvibes

Overall, I'll order a cake for our December trip for DS1's birthday somewhere along the trip for sure!! Maybe try GF again and be more specific about being a child themed cake.

Both places boxed/wrapped the cake up for us (CR did not have boxes but the waiter wrapped it in foil and shaped it like a swan-amazingly this held up VERY well until my husbadn closed the van door on the cake! :scared1: ) We just put it in the bottom of the stroller and went about visiting the parks. Wtih GFC, we left it in the van for a couple of hours before going back to our room. It was in the high 80s/low 90s so the fondant was beginning to melt when we got back to the car. After CR, we wandered the park for a bit longer and the cake was perfectly fine when getting back to the room.

I took plastic containers to store both of the left over cakes int he fridge. Our fridge was NOT big enough (one from ASSp) so I put the cake in there over night with the door open a little crack so it got cooled off then left it on the table by the air conditioner the rest of our time there. It came home with us and is in the fridge now, probably to be finished tonight!

Oh....(sorry for the VERY long ramble!!!) the CR waitier even gave us our desserts to go since they're included with the plan! :lovestruc I've got three chocolate wave desserts in my fridge too!! I'm going to be one sugared up woman this week!! :rotfl:

Overall, I'd totally order the cakes again no question just being much more specific about what I wanted.

Also, it's a good thing I helped stir the pixie dust because DH and DS4 got NOTHING anywhere else we went. :confused3 :sad2:

Thanks for that!! I truly appreciate it! I'll be looking for the pictures when you return! Have a wonderful time at HDD!!

newtodis LOVE your cake report!! Just what I needed to hear - hope others will take time to share their recent experiences too!! Sorry to hear you didnt find any other magic along the way - but KUDOS to you for not letting that let you down!! Did you have it recorded in your adr's (birthday celeb? or did you tell them at check in? Last year we told them at check in, and they told me at Pop to go to the concierge desk and tell them, that CM asked me dd favorite princess and they delivered balloons and a card signed from Princess Aurora... she also got cupcakes at several other restaurants... LTT< Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, CRT all are places that I know do the cupcakes if you let them know ahead of time...

Every birthday item we received, ordered or a surprise came with a candle or two. But I guess it doesn't hurt to be prepared with your own. Just in case.:goodvibes

we did get them at Crystal Palace last Sept... but thanks for the reminder to Be Prepared

(and thanks for taking the time to say Askerhaus didnt provide a candle!)

We ordered the Hannah Montanna cake Sept '07 - I called the hotline listed on page one of the cake hotline thread - the CM talked me thru what I could have and as I was undecided she offered the Hannah Montanna screen!

I think I'd like to order a TInkerbelle cake, but I honestly am not prepared to pay $70 for a cake, I think dd would prefer the $25 cake and then money to buy a "pick a pearl" with a setting! (but that's just us, I keep reading and thinking, and changing mymind, I now have 3 weeks, and I HAVE TO MAKE DECISION!!) :scared1:

BTW its my understanding from talking to 2 bakeries here (one Sam's club btw) that they have "edible" paper and "edible" ink, so they use their computer and print out after personalizing the cake screen above -

The cake was indeed DELICIOUS!!

Thankyou soo much this was exactly what i was after .. can i just ask how much this one cost??

Okay. I've spot-read the firs thread and I've spent my entire lunch reading and spot-reading this thread.

What is available for the Rose and Crown for cakes?

I may have selective memory - I'm pretty sure this was the $25 cake - that I had only the choice of chocolate or vanilla... and it was the 8" cake... (but it was before the price increase, so not sure if this size cake is now more... but it was the simple cake, and it was delicious - we had it at Crystal Palace - so I was surprised at how good it tasted after having one the year or two before at the Grand FLoridian...)

ETA - I'm betting this is now $32, and yes, it was large enough that we had leftovers for a couple of days, CP gave us a box and offered to keep it in their fridge while we finished touring, we declined, we were too tired!!

Hey Lynn
Thanks for the report!!
You have put my mind at rest as we have CR booked for DS's 9th birthday in December. We have menus and divers arranged too but I was getting jumpy about the cake following all the bad reports posted on this board. I was considering picking a cake up from Boardwalk Bakery on the way to CR (I would have ordered it first of course). That way I could be sure I would have a cake!!! Now, though, I think I will order through CR
Did you order through the hotline or via Debi?
How much was the cake?
Do you have a picture you can post? I would love to see it!!!
Sorry for all the questions!!
Hope you had a good trip despite the pixie-dust being in short supply sometimes:sad2:
Hugs as always
Joanne

We have ressies at 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's. One of these nights we'll be celebrating my dd's 3rd birthday. Which one should I order a cake from?

For a little girl, I would do 1900 PF. You can order a mini castle cake for her or the slipper dessert. We had both there this past June. All our cakes are on post 229 and 230 on page 16: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1859670&page=16 When you make your ADRs make sure you let them know it's your DDs bday and usually she'll get a cupcake. Chef Mickey's does a cupcake and placemat.

We´ll be dining at 1900 Park Fare the day before DD´s birthday but not celebrating her birthday there. I´m wondering whether maybe I could order a cake but ask them not to bring it out and then just take it home with me, boxed up, for us to enjoy the day after, on her birthday?

Sorry to be a pain but just re-posting in case someone may have an email address for me?

Many thanks

xxx

Your best bet is to call the cake hotline first and then have the appropriate restaurant call you back with an e-mail. You may have to send your image to a specific person. Good luck!
