Just for clarification. I want to order the small castle cake for the GF Tea Room. It is just an afternoon tea for 2 adults and DD3. Girls time together thing so it will be plenty for the 3 of us with our tea offerings. Just want to make it extra special.....

Who do I specifically call? GF Bakery or some other line. Thank you for your help and assistance.

Hi.

I'm thinking about getting (a) cake(s) made for our first-ever Disney World trip in September, 2009. The first cake would be for my Mom's birthday on September 2nd, and the second cake would probably be a separate cake [served with the birthday cake] for my Aunt, maybe saying 'Welcome to Disney World!' or something.

I have a few questions though.

1. I'm 18-years-old and I don't have any credit cards or a bank account to have a debit card. Are there any other ways that I could pay for the cake(s)? Could I use someone else's credit/debit card [with their permission, of course] to pay for the cake(s)?

2. My Aunt is diabetic, is it possible to get a sugar-free/diet cake for her? I'd hate for her to see us eating cake and she can't. I'd hate to even order a cake if that had to happen. I know my Aunt usually does eat sweets, even if she isn't supposed to, but I don't know what to do.. Should I just stick with the one cake? I don't have a job, so the only money I'll have saved to spend will be from this upcoming Christmas, my birthday in February and any future holidays. Would one or two slices of regular cake hurt her?

3. If I wanted a screen printed image on the cake, would they be able to/willing to use an image that I have and/or made?

4. Could I have it noted on my cake order that the cake(s) are a surprise from me and that no one should find out? I'd hate to have the host/hostess mention it and ruin the surprise, or have the dinner bill handed to my Mom. I'd love if the host/hostess would pull me aside and ask if I had a cake or whatever they wanted to ask say, instead of mentioning it in front of my Mom and Aunt. Not trying/wanting/meaning to blame them because if they don't know it's a surprise then it's an honest accident.

5. I'd really hate to do this, but would it just be easier to skip the dinner/cake thing and just have the cake delivered to our room, bypassing all the possible surprise-ruining-incidents?

Thanks!
-Tiffany

The Contemporary has its own bakery, right? They do have weddings there, so do they do the cake or is it done at another bakery and brought over?

There seems to be very little about cakes at Contemporary restaurants. I'm trying to figure out what kind of cake I might be able to order.

Anybody order a cake from the Wave?

I've spent three days going through this thread and I don't think I saw it mentioned and the Wave is not on the first page.

Thanks for any insight!

All the cakes for wedding receptions at the California Grill come from the Grand Floridian bakery (I had a Disney wedding). As far as I know there is not a bakery for cakes at the Contemporary. Perhaps call the cake hotline or the dining number and ask if they have a number for the wave.

Will my DS get the birthday free sunade even if I have a cake purchased?

Just returned today. Tried to order the Mickey head cake before our trip and played phone tag with Chef Mickey's for days before our trip and then just gave up. Ordered the cake at the podium, awful! I cannot stress it enough, it was terrible. And I love cake so it has to be bad for me not to stomach it! The entire thing went to waste, please save your money! Then we went back to CM's later in the week and they gave DS the cupcake for free, ugh, I should've done that the first time and saved myself $21!!!

We also got the birthday cupcakes and characters to sing at Crystal Palace, Cape May and Chef Mickey's (I think that was all...). DS also got a birthday sundae at Coral Reef. I'll post pics later, need to unpack! :rotfl:

I am not sure, it's kinda a guessing game on where you get birthday surprises or not. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks for the info, Skylarr. I've been following your gorgeous wedding TR on the wedding board!

I also got the Cinderella Slipper dessert for my 3 DDs as a just because at our breakfast. They were very shocked. It arrived right after the Wishing Ceremony, where my oldest DD (14) told me to go ahead and take her wish. When it came out everyone was surprised and asked me how they got it. I told them it was my wish for something special to happen for my little princesses. My oldest of couse knew better, but my younger 2 girls believe that it was a dream come true.

I just felt a little bad because all the little girls in the area ame over and were Ooohing and Ahhing and some moms asked about it but were told it had to be ordered. My DH told me I shouldn't feel bad it will give them a reason to go back. The girls loved it, they loved their names on the plate. So beautiful and so delicious and worth every penny!!!

Thanks to this board I knew about it and was able to give my girls a wonderful breakfast surprise!

What exactly is he Cinderella Slipper dessert? Also, what type of cake comes in the Mini Castle Cake? Thanks in advance!!

Post 1778 shows the Cinderella Slipper dessert. It was a chocolate glass slipper filled with chocolate moouse. It is served on an angel food cake "pillow" and surronded by a variey of very fresh berries. It is available at CRT and a similar version is at GF (if i am not mistaken). It was $12.50. They also will write a message in chocolate on the cake, mine was just my girls names. It was beautiful and very delicious and every bit of it was gobbled up.

I'd like to order the slipper dessert at CRT for our dd, but is there something comparable that I could order for ds?

Does anyone have a number for Polynesian in room dining. I would like to order a cake to be delivered to our room for DH's birthday. I called the cake hotline but all the options were for getting a cake at various restaurants. If anyone has any info on how I can get a cake delivered to our room please let me know.

Call the resort (not the reservations line) and ask to be transferred to in room dining and they should be able to help no problem. HTH :goodvibes

Back from our wonderful Thanksgiving grand gathering, making lots of special memories, and want to take time to post the different cakes that were ordered for our birthday celebrations. So many here offered advise and pics that helped and I want to return the favor. :goodvibes

This cake was ordered via Publix ($22) for our GS's BD's. Seventeen of us had dinner at DTD Rainforest Cafe our first night and they don't offer cakes. It was marble w/chocolate frosting, very moist and most delicious!
It was so large we gave half to the table guests next to us. They were most appreciate. :goodvibes

Sorry about poor quality of pics.

We also celebrated dear SonIL's BD same night at Poly w/a MM cake. It was a delicious chocolate cake w/chocolate ganache icing. Not only a cool cake, but very yummy!! :goodvibes

It was s lot of cake and Poly was kind enough to box up left over cake, as our dinner was followed by our exciting Grand 1 Yacht 'Wishes' Birthday cruise! But we indeed enjoyed our cake for few days to come!!! :goodvibes

:grouphug: Wishing everyone a Merry C'mas and hope your New Year is full of many blessings.

How did you order the Mickey Head cake? I thought you could only get that at Boardwalk Bakery. We are having dinner our first night at O'Hana's and would love to get this one. thanks!

Call the cake hotline on the first page of this thread. I called yeserday.
I am only getting a small cake now for DS birthday at the coral reef for $21 dollars, but I was going to get the mickey head cake.

We called the Poly #407-824-2000 on front page of this thread and asked for dining. There was no problem ordering the MM cake and being delivered to our SoA dinner show at Poly. However, they did warn us, not to count on his name on the ear (rather on cardboard plate as previous photos on thread show) but low and behold, when it arrive his name was was there! We ordered it 2 or 3 weeks out, and confirmed before going,
was $48, plus tax and tip! Guess we were lucky ~ I'm thinking ~ where there is a will, there is a way!?!?!

The mini castle cake surprise was a huge hit with dd9! It was our special girls only breakfast and she was so tickled when they brought it out to her with a birthday crown and a special placemat. James brought the cake out and he was so enthusiastic and the diners sang happy birthday to her! I have to confess I got a little choked up but managed to get a grip! I was so impressed that I didn't even mind that they put white icing on the cake when I had requested chocolate. Thank goodness the cake was chocolate...and the mousse filing was to die for...no joke! So thanks to all of you here who gave me the heads up. Because of you I was able to make a very special memory with my daughter.

Dh and I celebrated our third anniversary a few weeks early on our trip three weeks ago. We were staying at the YC and I had a very specific cake a wanted.

About 10 day before we left, I called the number for the YC private dining listed on the first page of this thread. I told the first CM that I spoke to that I wanted a custom cake for our anniversary. She transferred me to her supervisor. I then explained that I wanted a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, white fondant on the outside with snowflakes and pearls. She wasn't sure if it could be done and gave me the email address for Chef Deran.

I emailed Deran and once again explained what I wanted and included pictures. I also included my phone number. He called a few hours later and we talked for about 15min. by phone. He was SUPER nice and after a few more emails, everything was ready to go.

The cake was delivered to our room the day after we arrived (as requested) and was absolutely beautiful!! It was exactly what I wanted and tasted even better than it looked!

I would not hesitate to order again. The pasty team at YC are incredible and so sweet to work with!

Here are some pics of the cake:
