Is the white castle cake too girly for my ds13?

what other options will I have at 1900 Park Fare for a boy?

I called the # for GF and was given a run around for a minute. They transferred me to a "Linda". Linda was not available so I left her a message and then I called 1900 Park Fare and she then transferred me back to the original room service #.

She said the mini castle cake can not be iced in chocolate, in only comes in white. :sad2: I thought that would help "man it up". The lady was very helpful and said they have a new dessert for boys. A DOOM DESSERT???? I think that's what she said, I couldn't understand her with the accent she had.

I ordered that for my son and the cinderella slipper for my oldest daughter.

Anyone have pic or have gotten the Doom dessert???? TIA

OH! No chocolate icing? Is that only for the outside? What about chocolate or strawberry on the inside? Doe snayone know about that?

I am not sure about the inside but I asked specifically if it could be iced on the outside with chocolate and she said "no, it only comes with white icing."

The outside is only available with white frosting. The inside comes in three flavors:

Chocolate cake/chocolate mousse filling
Vanilla/white chocolate mousse
Cheesecake

The mini castle cakes are mass produced. They are cut out from a larger cake. If they won't make you a chocolate one how about having the mini cake placed on top of a 6inch chocolate. I've seen it done on these forums. Can't hurt to ask.:goodvibes

$%^%$&^$%^&%##@!!!!
Urgh, so frustrating! I really wish WL had better cake options!!! I have two GF restaurant ADRs but the Grand Tea Room ressie is right before MNSSHP on the 16th and one week before the birthday. And the Narcoossee's ressie is on the 28th, 5 days after the birthday.

I'll probably go for the small castle cake for the Garden View Tea room on the 16th. I couldn't imagine not having a custom cake and I have heard from multiple sources that the last minute, order at the podium cake isn't up to par. Next year I know to make sure we dine at the GF on any birthdays.

Does anyone know if we don't finish the cake and need to take it with us to MK during the MNSSHP, can I fit it in a locker, would it be safe, not melt or anything? Any other suggestions? Could I have it held for me at the GF if I'm not staying there?

I really appreciate everyone's help!

Now this is a delima! I know when we ordered our cake at Crystal Palace one year, and at CRT another year, both CM Servers said we could store the cake in their fridge until we finished touring -

but since its at the resort... IF you cant finish it (the Tea does have excellent desserts) I just think it would be too cumbersome to keep it at the GF go to MNSSHP and its a late night, you wont want to go all the way to GF then try to navigate the transportation system over to WL after park closing...

I will say the lockers at MK will be large enough to hold the cake - ask the GF to box it to go - and if they have any suggestions for a place in the MK (not sure, but it might be worth asking ???? I know Tony's and the MK Bakery are close - I dont think the locker area at MK has any a/c in it)

Just remember, you are on VACATION, at the Happiest Place - it all works out!! Its just the stress of planning!!

(PS sorry to confuse the cake tasting I was referring to was a non Disney Bakery here in IL! :guilty: :flower3:

For those saying they talked to someone at GF that wasn't very nice at all, call back and ask to speak with Linda. She is great and answered all my questions. I had special requests and she talked to the chef for me and let me know that they'd be able to accomodate me. I totally recommend her. Also, remember that if you get frustrated, it might make them frustrated, which makes them less eager to help you out. I've learned you're more likely to get what you want when you're super nice than when you're not. Good luck with your cakes! I can't wait to see ours on Sunday. :woohoo:

I'm glad that you had good dealings with Linda, because I did not. I asked her a simple question (could I have my wedding cake replicated in a mini wedding cake), and she couldn't/wouldn't answer it. I have seen others who have done it in the past with both the mini wedding cake and the castle cake. I told her I did not want an anniversary layer, but the mini wedding cake. She kept asking if I wanted to order the anniversary layer, but never answered the one question I asked. I simply gave up and ordered a castle cake.

What a bummer! I didn't even think to ask about a mini-wedding cake. That would have been toatally cute.

I do plan on that being a complete MK day. It's our first day so MK seems obvious especially since we have tea at 5PM and the MNSSHP.

So I guess at some point during the day I can ask guest relations at MK if they have any suggestions for me. Going back to MY resort isn't an option since (and I wasn't clear on this) we are staying at POP. If it was the WL I wouldn't have a problem going before the party.

If they can't help me out it's no big deal. It's really not going to be a bother for me to just walk down to say... Casey's and ask them to fill up a ziploc bag of ice for me so that I can just place the cake on top (or wherever) to keep it cool or at least, not warm.

:confused3 All this trouble for a dumb cake. Next time... must remember... eat at the GF for a cake event and have a later meal.

Hi everyone,

Just a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can help me out with. I'm booked with my VERY soon-to-be DH at the Grand Floridean Cafe on Oct 3rd, I want to suprise him with the mini castle cake. I know I should be ordering 2 weeks out but the 14 day out mark is the day before our wedding - I'll be rushed off my feet and probably not thinking about cake! Should I order it about 3 weeks out or, as it's a "standard" GF cake, could I leave it until we arrive at WDW on Sept 22nd and order at the concierge desk at Wilderness Lodge? Can anyone tell me how much that cake is?

If I tell the bakery that it's our honeymoon when I order the cake, do you think they could do a message on the plate, written in chocolate sauce or something similar?

Also, I know you can order the chocolate covered strawberries to your room. DH doesn't eat any kind of fruit, does anyone know of an alternative that's similar? Maybe a plate of luxury chocolates or something? How much do the strawberries cost?

Thanks!

Linda called me back! I reaffirmed that the mini castle cake only comes with white icing. bummer! Anyway, I ask her about the "Doom dessert". She didn't have a clue and then said "OH, the dome dessert." The lady I placed an order from kept calling it a "doom dessert." :sad2: She explained it to me but I still can't place it. The lady I spoke to first said it was a Mickey chocolate mold and then Linda said No it is disc with mousse and gnach (sp?).

I am gently asking again if anyone has ordered the Dome Dessert? If so please post a pic or tell me what it looks like. TIA :goodvibes

Might it be one of those cupcake sized Mickey heads? I know I've seen a picture of one, but I can't remember if it was on this thread or somewhere else. It's like a cupcake, but as if it were baked in a bowl. Then they cover it with chocolate ganache and put two ear-shaped chocolate disks in it. It looks like the top of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, or the top of Mickey's head.

I think so!

A few questions. Can and how much is just a little cake if you want it delivered to your room at AKL? Also, if we don't do that can we 1. Bring a cake to our meal at WCC? Or 2. Does anyone know if we can have one delivered to our table and how much is that? Thank you for any help.

Thanks for the description. I am picturing it much better.

I am getting this Tuesday evening for my son and I will post a pic when I get back.

keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it is comparable to the Cinderella slipper. (same price)

I just got off the phone with CRT to order a 6" cake for my daughter's birthday and she said the cake was $21. On the first page of the cake thread it said they are $12. What gives?
