I wouldn't mind seeing an 8' cake!![]()
Be careful what you ask for... they could always make the castle that hideous monstrosity again!

What the heck is that!?!? Call me me gullible, but was the castle actually like that at one point? Was it some crazy Disney's Year of a Million Gumdrops thing?
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort on October 1, 1996, Imagineers transformed the front of Cinderella Castle into an 18-story "birthday cake." Complete with red and pink "icing," giant candy canes and 26 glowing candles, the castle served as the centerpiece for the 15-month long celebration. Designed by Walt Disney Entertainment Florida and later constructed by the Imagineers, this was no small undertaking. It took more than 400 gallons (1514 l) of pink paint to cover the castle, which was decorated with multicolored "sprinkles," 26 candles, ranging in height from 20-40 feet (6.1-12.2 m) tall, 16 two-foot (61 cm) long candy stars, 16 five-foot (1.5 m) candy bears, 12 five-foot (1.5 m) gumdrops, four six-foot (1.8 m) Life Savers, 30 three-foot (91 cm) lollipops, and 50 two-foot (61 cm) gum balls. Additionally, more than 1000 feet (305 m) of pink and blue inflatable "icing" was needed to finish it off. On January 31, 1998, the castle was transformed back to its original state.
VERY REAL... It was horrible (although in all fairness, there are people who liked it and I do not mean to be insulting when I share my opinion...)

Mickey Head Cakes are $48.00 plus tax and gratuity.
I had an 8 inch chocolate with peanut butter filing, chocolate frosting and pink fondant cake from the GF in August 2008. I simply asked for that size and my requested fillings. The cost was around $85, but that included both the additional cost for fondant and the chocolate slipper decorating the top. It should be arounf $45-$55 without the added decor.

Thanks for the memories Jenjersnao- I remember all the linda fun. She is nearly impossible to work with. Mercurial at best. They CAN and WILL do an 8 inch cake- IF linda feels like asking them to do it. I asked for an 8 inch b-day cake...she said 8 inch is only the anniversary cake- I said fine can I have an 8 inch with chocolate cake- pb mousse and foundant? She said I'm sure they can do it, how do you want the inscription to read. I replied HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILY...she checked with the chef- called me back and it was fine....but yeah I got the same bs from her in the beginning too. She is my one truly negative experience from Disney. I wish if they were going to advertise this Magical Celebrations thing they would employ someone in this role who could feel the cake magic! So, I totally struck out today on any variation on the 8 inch choc/choc or van/van theme. Linda insisted they would never have made an exception unless it was an "anniversary package" (whatever the heck that is - returning Disney bride, I guess). Is that what you had, Tinker*Shell*Bell?
It is sad that I am quite willing to pay a lot for my celebration - Disney's theme for the year, after all - but I just can't justify buying a 10 inch cake just for my 5-year-old and myself two days before we leave. 3/4s will end up in the trash. My DS doesn't like all chocolate though choc and peanut butter is up his alley and I despise all vanilla so an 8 inch holds no appeal.

I do think that Linda is probably over-worked so I try to be sympathetic - this thread alone probably keeps her on her toes -but to be judge and jury, super controlfreakasaurus (as we call it around our house) about which caller gets exceptions to the "rules" which possibly may be HER rules in the first place? Not cool. My occasion is important to me too. Oh well. Thanks for relaying the story, it makes me feel better than I am not the only one to whom she is "mercurial".![]()
