Your Fairy Godmother pays your family a visit, and gifts you $500 to use toward your trip. The only stipulation is that you MUST use it for something on your vacation (ie no putting it towards your weekly grocery purchases ).

How would you spend it?

- upgrade your resort?

- upgrade your dining plan?

- add on a special tour or "extra"? (if so, name it....BBB, Pirates Cruise, etc.)

- increase the souvenir shopping budget

- add an extra day (or days) to your vacation

- add on another park (Discovery Cove, SeaWorld, Universal, etc.)

- or ________________________________?

For us, I think we'd probably add the extra to our shopping budget. We love the outlets......and have nice, spacious luggage .

Or, maybe add one day at MK to the vacation plans.

It would be hard to choose between the two!

My DD and I are leaving August 9th and staying at POR. Our first time ever on site. A friend talked me out of the budget hotels and to try this moderate resort. We are so excited. Our first time with early morning and evening hours, no car rental. We got the Quick Dining plan, so I won't be worrying about money the whole time. I got the suitcase out last night and started putting stuff in that we might forget, lol. Jumping the gun just a little


I'm a little worried about the bus system. is it crowded in August?

I just realized this morning (after looking at my ticker) that we are officially under 3 months until our travel date!!! It doesn't seem that long ago that it began at "10 months, X weeks, X days".

Oooooooh, the summer is going to fly by so quickly!!!!

Either upgrade our hotel to one of the ones we've really wanted to stay at or do a tour. I'd love to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour someday.

I love that QOTD! I think I would add a day to our trip. We've already been considering it, and that amount would probably cover the increased plane tickets, extra night in the hotel, and maybe even a little food. So fairy godmother, where are you??

I see our Loonie is now at 92 cents US. Wondering if I should flip our cash over or wait and hope it nudges a little higher. Ah, decisions, decisions.

Every day I try to decide, but then I figure I don't travel with a ton of cash anyhow as we use our visa and mc for the points. I will bring a little bit in cash though.

Soooo this weekend I decided I couldn't wait any more And honestly started looking at packages to fly out next weekend.... didn't book it though, talked myself out of it if I were in my 20s I would've gone in a heartbeat. I'm such a lame adult now!
I just realized how close I am to FP+ reservations!! I'm so stressed about it! Lots of you must be even closer!! Any plans for getting it done??

I am in my twenties and would feel so guilty about dropping everything and going to Disney (but I'm a teacher so I couldn't anyway lol)

I have like two more weeks til FP+ reservations! I was going to stay up to do them but I get up so early for work anyway that I figure I'll do the important ones first thing before getting ready that morning then finish them out once I'm at work.

What we really need to do is figure out when we want to do what rides instead of just what we want to do!

I mostly do the packing as DH gives me his stuff, dont use packing list anymore as I try to make sure the outfits can be mixed. Passport and tickets most important as one trip icwas meeting DH there and he did forgot the park tickets so had to buy when we got there but now have extra ones...

What to do? I would probably do some of the tours like Back Tour or Wild Africa Trek

Yes as we dont live near our bank to exchange often we probably will only carry little cash that we have left over from our xmas trip and use the credit card

I posted a week or so ago that my husband was laid off. He went for an interview Monday and was offered the job yesterday. Managing directors and such just have to sign off, and then we're waiting for them to FedEx a package over so he can have his formal offer in writing, sign, sealed, and delivered.
Today was 2 weeks officially that he was laid off, so I am thrilled that he found a job so quickly.

AND! no problem with our August vacation, so I'm back to planning! Thanks for all the good thoughts!

Since my kids are older now (DD16 & DS14), I give them each a packing list for clothes (i.e., 8 pairs of shorts, 8 t-shirts, etc.) and they pick out their own outfits. I also list out the toiletries for DS (deodorant, toothbrush, etc.) so that he doesn’t forget essentials. Then I shop/pack for the common items, such as sunscreen, ibuprofen, Tums, beach towels, etc. I have an Excel spreadsheet with 14 tabs (as of today), one of which is my packing list.

I can’t remember a trip where I forgot something; usually I over-pack, or we pick up items at Publix between the airport and the resort.

I always fear I'll forget travel documents (i.e., boarding passes, reservation printouts), but I keep electronic copies of everything now, so that isn't as much of a concern. I am buying Disney gift cards and keeping them in my "Disney bin", so my fear is that I'll forget them.

Since I have a family of shopaholics, it would definitely be "increase the souvenir shopping budget"!

I booked our Magical Express reservations last night. DD is flying down by herself the day after the rest of us, so she needs to take the bus by herself (she's so excited, but my stomach tightens up a little bit as I type this). Then my GF and her DD fly home a day before my family departs, so I booked 3 travel requests at the same time. I hope I did it right! I guess I'll find out when the "Mickey Mail" arrives with our luggage tags in late June/early July.

Just under a month until FP+ bookings - -- I really need to research this process more, so I have a clue!
