We are so excited!!! We will be in Disney 09-21 August staying at POR! Haven't been back to the states in a few years because we have been living in Europe, but we did get to visit DLP in 2011. We are heading "home" for a visit and staying in Orlando the whole time. We are also bringing some family members along for the ride! There will be at least 10 of us (maybe more!)!!

I do have a quick question I hope some of you can help me with. We are getting the 4 day military salute tickets to include the water park option, but we also want to buy tickets for a few extra days. Can we link the military salute tickets AND the regular tickets (if we buy online) onto the MB at the same time or will I have to add one set of tickets, use them and then add the other?

Has anyone not received their vacation planning thumbdrive yet? My son is going crazy waiting for it! We booked months ago and our trip is the first week in August. How do you think they roll these things out?

We booked ours in November and got our thumbdrive December 20. Did you link your resevation on MDE? I wonder if that makes a difference?

I did link my reservation on MDE quite a while ago. I added a shipping address for magic bands a few days before Christmas, although they already had my address so I wouldn't think that would matter.

We're staying at AoA--it's not a deluxe-only thing, is it?

Hi all! We've been the last week of August before, but this is our first trip in what I think of as summer crowds at WDW.

My daughter is starting high school in the fall, and if she makes the cheering squad, they have camp in late August.
So..we adjust.

We're planning on flying in Friday 8/8, renting a car, staying somewhere that night, checking into Universal's RPH early Saturday morning.
Universal/IoA Saturday and Sunday.
Check out of RPH early Monday 8-11 and check into BWV. Fly home 8-17

I am a Disney girl through and through-been there yearly, sometimes twice a year since my first trip(honeymoon in 1992)..but I'm realllly excited to go to Universal. I've only been for one day at a time and the last time was probably 1996..

Sounds like an amazing trip. Boardwalk looks so pretty. I remember visiting Disney when I was a kid and they were building it- I thought it was so cool. I've also only done Universal a day at a time. Once I was a little kid and Nickelodeon was still there- we saw a taping of Family Double Dare. The next time was 1999 when I graduated high school. I've never been to IOA and I enjoy HP so If like to see that one day when my kids are bigger...... But Disney will probably always be my main event. I just love the feeling of being in a magical, happy world away from reality!!!

You will really enjoy the Universal parks, and the Royal Pacific is a gorgeous hotel. Good choice to stay onsite at Uni for that portion of your visit....you will LOVE the free Express Passes and how easy it is to get from park-to-park or from the parks to your hotel!!!

Be sure to have a Butterbeer when you are in the Wizard World of Harry Potter. They are divine .

August 14th to 28th at OKW with free dining. Me, DH and MIL in a one bed villa. My parents, brother, SIL, niece (4) and nephew (7) in a 2 bed villa.

On the 28th my MIL flies back to the UK while the rest of us move to Universal to stay at PBH.
DH and I are in a deluxe King room.
Mum and dad in an accessible room (non wheelchair)
Brother, SIL and kids in Despicable Me Kids' Suite.

DH and I fly home on September 1st, then the others fly home on the 2nd.

August 17th is our 5th wedding anniversary and we got married at Disney's Sea Breeze Point so DH surprised me by booking us in a Water View room at BWI for the nights of 17th and 18th. He's also got some big surprise planned for the day of the 17th, which is very exciting!

I don't think I've joined in here yet, but we're going to be at WDW 8/5- 8/12 at POFQ!

We'll be celebrating birthdays for my two sons and DH, although DS1 is the only one who's having a bday during the actual trip, and turning the big number ELEVEN (DS2, who will be 9, and DH have birthdays three weeks beforehand).

So if you see a bunch of happy people with birthday buttons that week, I'll be the one with them looking sad b/c I don't have one, LOL!!

I won't really be sad, as the trip is primarily for me because I love it there so much I'm just dragging them along for the ride this time!

That is so weird! I was just chatting with Disney and they said the drives are only going to people who booked "recently" and since I booked in October 2013--before the Incredibles USB promotion started--that I would not be getting one.

Hope it's not too late to join the party! We are going 8/22-8/25 AoA and then 8/26-8/31 BWV. Just got our magic band box last week and down to about 6 weeks til we can do dining. Yay! The kids had better start their research, they will get 1-2 picks apiece for where they want to eat TS

Edited: And thanks to whoever posted the *** discount. Now I'm waiting for a return call/email with a quote for BC and AoA now. We already have BWV DVC booked for our second half. We were pretty solid for AoA for the first 3 nights, but if I can get BC for cheaper than AoA.... Our kids are fish and that pool would be heaven to them!

Oh how I wish I was planning our annual August trip. I just don't think we can swing it this year. We just got back two weeks ago and it might as well have been 2 months ago. I am sick of the weather, sick of the cold and sick of the snow already. I don't need to go away again, but I sure miss planning something.

Dh just graduated in December (top student in his program!). So he's on the job hunt. There's no planning a trip right now. He has a few very good prospects and 2 interviews in the next 2 weeks. I don't think it will be long until he is employed and then I could plan something, but I think it would be smarter to plan a trip for next winter. We really want to see the new Harry Potter stuff and it will just be too busy in August.
So I will read along with my August friends, and live vicariously through all of you until we are able to plan another trip for our family.

Sounds like another 'no one is on the same page at Disney' example. Las year- every time I called about the new MBs I got a different CM and. Different answer for if we'd be part of the test group and different reasons why or why not!
