No pins or offers for us so far, so should I just book and hope for the best? If I book with AAA and an offer comes up later, can I jump on that offer?
Any help would be most appreciated :)

It's up to you. If you do call to see if they have anymore AAA rate rooms available, I would do it myself through Disney, then if something comes up you can just call them immediately and not have to go through AAA owning your reservation. If they have any AAA rated rooms available, they'll apply it. I usually do it this way and then when something comes up, just call back and based on availability of the discount they will work out the details with you.

This year, I'm doing it a little different. I seem to keep getting Pins and I was going to hold off, but then I got the 35% Aug. 17 on pin so I just called with that for a deluxe so I didn't miss out, as I usually don't book for August till February, but now I've already called. However, the week before we also are going to a Mod the week before and I haven't called yet and I will do that as usual. It works out better for me and maybe I'll get a pin. If no pin, I will still book at that time and try a AAA rate if still available. Visa and GP offers don't usu. come out for that time until at least March or April. I'm thinking if I book everything too soon, why would Disney want to offer me a Pin? they would already have me.
My other thought is that if everyone books ahead of time and Disney is filling rooms, why would they offer a discount or pin, as the purpose of it is to fill rooms.

I suppose the benefit of booking way ahead is if you have your heart set on a particular room classification to make sure you get it. However, if a discount or pin is offered, it is possible that when you call for that there will not be a room of that available for the discounted rate, and you will have to change anyway to get the discount. For example, when I recently called for the august 35%, I wanted the garden category at the BC. However, there were only Lagoon view or higher available that rate when I wanted to go. So, I would've had to switch anyway to get that discount. I ended up getting a garden category at the YC, so that is fine.

2 weeks! How exciting! We do 11 days, and after April's trip, I was thinking we'd do 9 or 10 next year because our kids had had enough, but it think that had more to do with the fact that it was the second 11 day stay inside of 9 months...perhaps there is such thing as too much of a good thing. :rotfl2:
They have confirmed though that next August, they definitely want 11 days. :goodvibes

This is our fisrt two week trip, EVER. I am so freaking excited. We usually go for 7 or 8 nights (with another night in a park in fly hotel before we depart), which feels as if time flies by so quickly. As our DS has grown older (and we make more frequent trips), we enjoy tossing in some rest and relaxation amidst the park visits, so we're hoping that two weeks will be just the perfect balance. Lots of time for attractions, and lots of time to chillax :beach: . Long enough that we don't feel like weeping when its time to leave. But not so long that we're pining away for home before its time to fly back.

It does change the whole vibe of the vacation, though. Not all meals will be eaten out on this trip (I don't know about anyone else's family, but our systems would shut down after two weeks of steady restaurant food ) which will be quite different (yet much anticipated!) from our normal Orlando routine. I am soooo looking forward to grilling lunch at the resort, and tossing pizzas in the oven for movie night. We're kind of aiming for a "half and half" trip: dining out half the time, and cooking (or ordering in) half the time. At the parks half the time, and enjoying the resort half the time. It may not work out that way, but having lots of time at our disposal sure makes me fret less about the impact of poor weather or a couple of down days if someone happens to fall ill.

If this two week experiment works out as planned, I may never want to do a single week trip ever again!!! :rotfl:

We've book for August! Our Dates are August 17th through the 23rd at POP. This will be our fourth time together as a family, my 8th. Extremely excited!!!

Thank you, DJFan 88 :)
I am glad I can book AAA thru Disney. I may do that to get our suit at AoA. Love the advice on here!!

I just booked our next Disney vacation at the Art of Animation resort in the Lion King Family Suite for myself, my mother, my son (12) and my nephew (11). I am so excited!

I used my AAA agent as it was $150 cheaper than via Disney and she swears that I can still book my own dinner reservations and fastpass+ online and that she'll apply any better discounts that come along.

I chose August 3-8, just when the rates get cheaper and hopefully before hurricane season. Although we went in early July last time and the first three days were a monsoon, so I guess you never know.

Regardless of the weather, I can't wait and I'm really looking forward to all that time with my Mom!

That is exciting! We want to stay there in a Nemo suite :) Going with your mom will be super special memories!!

I have a secret. I'm planning another trip for August 2014! My DD16 & I just returned last week. No one in my house knows it yet. I knew you people would understand!!

When are you going to let the cat out of the bag to the rest of the fam? :)

I don't know. I haven't thought that far ahead! Maybe I will tell them when it's about half way paid for!

You'll have to tell us how you tell them. I am so bad at keeping the secret. My kids were sitting next to me when I booked our bounceback. :goodvibes

Haha! Pick a season already! Make up your mind! Spring or late summer? Haha, just kidding. Either way, it's a great trip to Disney!

LOL! I love that you woke her up on a school night. That so sounds like something I would do. DH and DS were counting down to Walking Dead on Sunday night, so I joined in and said 10 more months til we're at Disney. The whole family just stopped and stared at me like I was crazy. Well, somebody's gotta countdown, right? :)

upon further reflextion i've realized something about going to disney world. It's not just wonderful because everything is clean, and the food is great, and the beds are made when you get home. I know those are all AMAZING things but its the simple joy it produces for adults upon entering the happiest place on earth that makes it great. for the time you are there you are not burded by job issues, money issues, and or (God willing) health issues. While you are within those gates of joy you are a kid again. with all the world before you, and no fears to stop you, you can go out there and enjoy everything.
After 1 hour buying food, 1 hour at the vet, 3 hours doing laundry, a half hour doing dishes, and spending 2 hours fixing my check book i realized that no fear, anxiety, or worry are three of the many great things about Walt's happy World.:thumbsup2
