I will be heading with my family on Aug. 1 to Aug. 9.
We are DVC members, and sadly had no points left for this summer, so had to buy a MYW package! LOL.
We first booked AoA, but then upgraded to Port Orleans Riverside.
Looking forward to our HOME AWAY from HOME!!!!!!
Please include me on your list!
THANKS

I adore POR! We are staying there for a few days before our bucket list stay at AKV and to be honest we are just as excited for our POR stay as we are the other. We have stayed off site, the last few trip at WBC and really miss "home" POR!

A few tips: You can easily pool hop to POFQ, we would just do this when we saw the boat there! The hot tub at POFQ is nice, we like the POR pool better, and we love the MANY quiet pools at this resort! A trip to DTD is especially enjoyable from POR because you can take a very enjoyable boat ride to DTD (very pretty at night too).Since you are a veteran, you probably have already checked out the "Unofficial Guide to Port Orleans" but, just in case I will mention it. My friend treated me to a nighttime horse and carriage ride and it was wonderful. :goodvibes

We loooooooooooove the mature grounds of this resort, I think the grounds of this resort could challenge any deluxe for beauty! Lots of nature, turtles, we saw a gray horned owl once, a gorgeous blue salamander thingy too.

I could go on and on! :thumbsup2 Enjoy!!!

The time seems like it's flying by. But I've just gone through an interview process and got an offer that I accepted! And they approved my vacation (I was worried about that). So I'm going from part to full time. So I think this will make the time go fast. One of my first thoughts: should I add any plans to the trip knowing I've just upped our family income. But I really haven't added anything, which means I'm pretty happy with how I've planned so far :) I do think once we're there, though, it'll mean less worry on food and souvenir spending.

Awesome! Congratulations!

One month today! Just 31 days (which includes 3 more work days with pupils around, 6 days with my lovely mummy, a good few driving lessons and a visit to see the Lion King on stage) and we are on our way to Florida! Wheeee! :D

I've been avoiding looking at my countdown because it's so sad normally but omg 17 days! I just redeemed some movie rewards points for a gift card, hopefully it gets here in time!

21 days until we check in at CR. My ticker shows 22, but we added a day to the beginning of the trip.:cool1:

Hi everyone!

OMG, I feel like the vacation is finally HERE! We leave this evening to visit my in-laws in MA. We will go to the ocean for a day, my DH and DFIL will go to a Red Sox game, and otherwise we will just hang out. It will be lovely and relaxing. :cloud9:

We get home late Weds and will be home for not quite three days before heading out of town again for WDW! YAY!! But those two-and-a-half days are completely packed. We are going to our local county fair (one of my DD's artwork is on exhibit), I'm throwing a surprise GNO for my BFF's 40th birthday, need a mani-pedi (priorities! lol), my middle DD has cheer uniform fittings, and we have my youngest DD's birthday party! Oh, and an orthodontist appointment and we need to get the dog to the sitter. AND WE NEED TO PACK! :crazy2: Yikes! Luckily I can do laundry at my in-laws' so we will come home with clean clothes, and I'm finishing up washing everything right now so we will have everything clean to repack for Disney. Craziness! But so fun and exciting. :goodvibes

DH called this morning to set up his golf tee time with my youngest (that couldn't be done until 2 weeks prior), so I think that was the very last piece of the puzzle. All that's left is for me to print everything (I know it's all in my phone but somehow I cannot let go of hard copies). :rolleyes2

We board the AutoTrain one week from tomorrow and arrive at the Villas at the Grand Floridian in 9 days. Single Digits! :yay:

Mickey Mail came today!!!! Yay---that somehow makes it real! Now just waiting on Magic Bands. But I have yellow luggage tags with my name on them, ready to go!

Magiv Bands came for me and DD 15. We are so excited. Then we got a BOG FP invitation, just what we were hoping for. We leave 8/9. I've bought everything we need, except for snacks and to place an order with Amazon Pantry. We had to buy so much. I never wear shorts, only capris but knew I'd be too hot in Florida. Ditto on sleeveless shirts. DD had outgrown all of last year's clothes. I decided i just had to have a new cross body bag. We both needed new sneakers. Yikes, pre-Disney adds up.

I had planned to lose 30 lbs before we left and to start exercising more. Didn't happen. Oh well. I won't be the only fat person in Disney. But I wish I had exercised so I have better stamina. I have a few weeks so I can get some walking in.

Our Fps are done. I took the $80 a day we would've spent on the QS dining plan and put it into envelopes for each day. DD still eats kids meals so the dining plan made no sense. I've read about so many good things to eat, I can't wait to try some of them. With the $80 already set for the day, we should be able to.

Now to wait til 8/9!
