Where are you staying at Christmas? Our dates are December 23 - December 30. Its the first time we are going to be away from the extended family during the holidays. We are trying to add some new stuff to the Christmas trip, just to keep it extra fun.....a Toronto Raptors/Orlando Magic game, an airboat tour, Gatorland, dinner at T-Rex, touring the deluxe resorts to see the holiday decorations......and a few favourites too, like SeaWorld and breakfast at Ohana.

We are so blessed that our DS loves to travel with us. It was actually his idea to forego the traditional family Christmas and get away together instead. I can totally see him still holidaying with us when he's grown and married. Those family bonds are pretty tight!!

Do you fly from Canada or the US?

I am so jealous of your Christmas trips. I tried again with my 8 yr old yesterday but he has no interest in forgoing Christmas for a trip. Why would he we he can have both?

Maybe we should meet for coffee. At Christmas we are at Animal Kingdom Lodge, dates not firm yet but tenative Dec 18 to 27. Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary on the 26th of Dec. We did breakfast at Ohana last year with MIL and her Boyfriend, thinking of doing it again this year.

DS moved out a few months ago, so this is a surprise trip for him, we miss him so much. I had no problem choosing Disney for his week away, I know he loves it as much as we do.

DD will be celebrate her 16th Bday in a quick weekend trip end of Sept (girls only), so the Aug trip is for DS and the Christmas one for DH and I. Who am I kidding I don't need an excuse to head south LOL.

August trip drive to Philly, pick up DS and fly from there to MCO.

Sept trip fly Ottawa to MCO, we have another teen with us so I didn't want the hassle of driving over the border.

Christmas trip undecided, leaning towards the 3 of us flying from Ottawa, DS flying Philly, Orlando, Ottawa for a few days then back to Philly. I can't decide though so I have not booked anything.

In the past we have flown from Syracuse and Rochester.

YAY!!! So close. I am soooo excited about being down there! Leaving in 10 days, 6 hours, and 35 minutes! hahahaaaa! What day do you check out? Wondering if we will be there the same time.

Packed my boys. Great way to clean their rooms. ha! School uniforms all ready, oil changed, new tires on car on Monday. I need to go school supply shopping and clean the house and then I am READY!!! Just made plans to hang out with good friends this week before we go...Did I mention I am excited?

So exciting! We check out on the 25th. I am so excited too!!!

Wow...I did it! I just booked a trip to Disney in February! I knew these annual passes would get me into big trouble! We live near Trenton, NJ and Frontier Airlines just added flights! We got 4 round trip tickets for $504!!!!!!! The hotel is super cheap too.....plus we should get an AP rate. The best part? The last day is my birthday....a dream come true!!!!!!

I would do the same thing if I had AP. I would want to get my money's worth.

This time NEXT week I'll be driving to Disney!!!

You have over 5000 posts and don't know how to multi-quote.

On the regular site just click the quotation marks next to the quote box. After you click all the ones you want click the quote box on the last one you want to quote to start typing your replies.

On the app it's a little more difficult click the blue down arrow on the right then click the white box on the left this will turn the avatar box yellow. After you've clicked all the ones you want click the arrow on the top right of the screen then click multi-quote.

I hope this helps.

While we are on the topic of the app as much as I love it because it does not crash nearly as much as the web version did on my iPad. I do miss seeing everyone's signature.

Here in Norristown, Pennsylvania in our district, my children and I start on September 4th. I work in the high school and go back the same day as the students. Since we check out the 31st, we had originally decided we were going to extend our stay until 9/1 or 2 but then we got a save the date for my cousins wedding on September 1st. No extension this trip. And since I have to spend the night at that wedding and buy a gift and all, we couldn't go earlier for the disney trip either. Oh well, at least we will see my parents 4 days on our vacation and then all day at the wedding as well. And we will see my sister and niece at a meal in disney and at the wedding as well. My bil will only be at the meal and won't see my brother at all. Bummer. But, we will get plenty of family time and plenty of vacation time and still have 2 days back before school starts. I guess that works for me.

My DD starts her senior year of HS on 9/5. We will be returning home on 9/4 at 8pm. Good thing they don't do much the first day of school because we probably won't walk in the door that night till 11PMish. We live in a New York City northern suburb.


On another note, had to take my car into the shop today because the engine light went on. They have to order the part from Toyota and it should be in on Monday. Last thing I needed 2 weeks from our trip was a $600 car repair bill

I'm not going to allow it to get me down. I'm going to my happy place in 17 more days!!!

Ugh, us too!!! I have to have new tires put on my car on Monday. I was just informed that mine wouldn't make the trip. The car isn't that old and doesn't have too many miles on it either! Better safe than sorry, but I hear you on losing some of your travel budget!

Our kids start school on 8/27, they will be in school on the first day of school and then we leave the next day...yes I know, please no flaming . This will be the last time we will be able to take our kids out of school and we will really miss going this time of year. The crowds are so low that you will be able to go on most rides multiple times with little wait.

No flames from me either. I took dd out of school for our December 2010 trip and our trip October 2013 I will be taking both kids out of school for our Disney cruise. That will probably be the last year I will take them out since dd, will start middle school the following year.

I am an ex-math teacher and I had students go on vacations all the time during the school year. No big deal. I would only get a bit miffed when I would put together the work parents requested and when they come back none of it was touched.

People can't always go when the kids are out. Family time and traveling is also educational.

Ugh about your car. My BRAND NEW 2012 car has the check engine light on TODAY. Figures. Luckily whatever is wrong with it should be under warranty.... I hope. I just hope its something simple they can fix easily before we leave next Saturday.

Today was productive for me. I hemmed DH's pants and had 0 issues. Not sure what my issue was last weekend. Then I hemmed my maxi dress that was way too long (i had to hold it up to walk). I decided not to mess with the straps... Oh and I got a travel size of Body Glide from a runner's site that had free shipping and it came in 2 days! So happy!

Now I just have to decide if I want to spend the 12 bucks for the unofficial WDW guide or not. Hrmm.......I need to decide today/tomorrow if I want to get it before I leave. If its not too late already.

About 4.5 years ago, I joined an iVillage online "expecting club" for moms who were expecting babies in Sept 2008. It was a group of about 30-40 fantastic, supportive women and (through facebook), we've gotten to know each other and have stuck by each other through 9 months of pregnancy, sleepless nights with newborns, terrible 2s, and are now watching our "babies" get ready to turn 4 and start preschool. A lot of the moms live in the Northeast and have had real-life meet ups, but I've never met any of them in person. Until now...

I just found out that one of the moms is going to be at MK on the 31st! And we were already planning to RD there that day! I'm so freaking excited! As if I needed another reason to be excited about our trip! Her DD was born the day after mine and I can't wait to see the girls together!

Funny thing, though, I was chatting with the mom and asking her all kinds of questions about her trip. Her answers? They're just going for a 3 day weekend (with her ILs for their 50th anniversary), staying at "um, something lodge" and only getting 3 day passes for the "magical kingdom". I'm lucky I was just online chatting, because I was literally LOLing at how different we are. She obviously hasn't spent a gazillion hours planning like I have! But I'm sure they'll have a fantastic trip and I can't wait to meet her in person!
