****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

I don't know why I'm even bothering to close my browser when every 2 minutes I can't help myself by looking at this thread again!!! Ugh! Gonna be a LONG day at work apparently! :badpc:

We leave in 15 days and I just stocked up on sunblock. I happen to be very pale and freckled. My son seems to tan easily, but has burned a few times this summer.

I'm starting to get concerned about burning in Florida because the sun happens to be particularly strong this year -- I read an article about solar flares, or sun spots, something like that. Anyway, we were camping on the Jersey Shore for the 4th of July and got burned quickly, despite our applications (and RE-applications) of sunblock. And that was Jersey! What am I go to do in Florida, wear a shroud?

We've been to DW in August twice before. I did get burned badly one time, after going to a water park and not re-applying sunblock. My own stupidity. But this year, with the sun how it is, I'm feeling pretty nervous. Someone in the Facebook group posted about a bad sunburn. Any other pasty Irish-skinned folks out there? What do you do, or plan to do?

im considering it, since I'm going solo.

who is setting it up?

There's actually a Photopass share Facebook page. Here's a link: http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/78167743594/

It is mine too! Happy early birthday and enjoy the concert! I am only going out to dinner but still happy to get to celebrate!:cheer2:

Happy birthday to all the August Birthday peeps! This sure is a special month!

Good morning everyone! More than anything, I hate being up before the sun, except for Disney days!! I'll check in with you guys here and there! Our flight leaves at 6 so my mom is picking us up around 4 and we'll get to the airport around 4:20. Talk to you guys soon!

Keep us posted!

Thursday, already? Of course I am up! I should be sleeping since I am taking the kids to Sesame Place today...need to be prepared:) I am up and didn't sleep well again....too much on my mind with this trip:scratchin
The other think on my mind is debating on a quick February trip! I just found out that a local airport will be flying to Orlando on Fridays and Mondays...perfect for a 4 day weekend for my birthday....without kiddos! They have an introductory price and DH and I could fly for $270 total! The hotel would be cheap too....I knew this annual pass would get me in trouble! What to do?

I thought about upgrading to one too. I started talking about a DLR trip next year. But with the new price increase, it wasn't worth it anymore. And now we've shelved our DLR plans. But yes,, an annual pass would get me in SERIOUS trouble.

I will be posting pictures and tweeting throughout my trip, starting today. If you would like to follow along, please follow me! My Instagram name is jacksallydis and my twitter name is lifedis (you just have to send me a request on there).

Make sure you check in here once in a while too. Sop exciting that you will be there - finally! :dance3:

Sooooooo.......as some of you might know, my hubby works about one hour away from home and is trying to find a job closer to where we live. He's been with his company now for over 20 years, but he just doesn't want to be on the road for 2 hours when he could be home with us....(Awe....so sweet!)

He received a letter from the State saying that they would like to interview him for a position which would be located in the next town (15 minute drive versus 1 hour). This is sounding great, huh? Well the interview is scheduled for FRIDAY, AUGUST 17TH AT 7AM!!!! :scared1: Um, hello??? We have to be leaving the house for the airport in Manchester, NH by 8am for a 12:15pm flight! As long as his interview doesn't go past 8am, we should be ok as long as I have EVERYTHING packed, the car gassed up and our map out. (Yes, we are map people and not GPS). Drinks/snacks will be in the little cooler and ready to go.

I'm totally excited for this interview for him, but I am soooooooooooooo nervous we won't make the flight. Everything will have to be perfect with no major highway tie ups or construction. Wish us luck! :woohoo:

It will work, it will work, it will work!! Congrats on the interview! Good thing they didn't ask him to go for 8am.

What a day! My friends whose son is in the hospital, needed someone to take her to run her errands. So I did that. Her son is still in ICU and they really can't figure things out.

Well my kids were at another neighbors house playing then I get the phone call to come right away. DD had fallen and blood is pouring out of her mouth. Take her to a pediatric urgent care, the Dr found a gash above her front teeth. This doctors husband is a dentist, so she called him to come look at it. Well he ended up having to put 4 stitches in her mouth.

When he was having to numb her mouth, she screamed. I so wanted to tell her right then about the Disney trip in 2 weeks to make her feel better, but I didn't.

In all the things going on, I almost forgot about taking care of my neighbor's 14 year old dog. They had to go out of town because the grandma has leukemia.

When it rains it pours.

I am so thankful overall we are blessed and that I have great friends on the Dis that share my Disney obsession.

((hugs)) Sounds like a stressful day. I hope today is better. :goodvibes

On and I should share my latest craft... I made pillows for our red eye flights.

The beige one is lines from Alice in Wonderland and the bubbles one has a few hidden Mickeys in it. Nothing special about the scribbles but I thought it went well with the sketches at AoA where we are staying.
Super cute pillows!!! I still need to hem DH's pants and one of my dresses. I decided to not mess with the straps on my dresses. I am having enough trouble heming. I already took one stab at DH's pants. I pinned them, ironed them where i wanted they looked good. But then somehow they got folded while I was sewing. So i took it out and did it again and it happened again! So i got frustrated and quit. Havent gone back to it yet. I fear my dress will be just as bad. I haven't sewn jersey before. :confused3

Good luck!!! Hopefully he will have plenty of time! If not could the rest of your family get there on time and get through check in and whatnot? Its probably easier for a guy to get through checkin by himself vs with a family so even if he's later he still might make the flight. :)

Meanwhile I am down to SINGLE DIGITS!!!!!!!!! 9 DAYS!!!!!!!! :hyper::hyper::woohoo::cool1::woohoo::hyper: :hyper:

We also found out we should be able to do IVF again in Sept/Oct! DH is convinced this will be our last vacation as a twosome. With over 4 years of TTC and one ectopic I am less optimistic but I appreciate his postivity. :goodvibes Hopefully we will get a little pixie dust to take home at Disney. ;)

Sometimes it depends on what kind of sunscreen you are using. Also, you will be in and out of buildings instead of just sitting out in the sun all day.

If you can, wear a hat. This will at least protect your face.

I will be honest I don't worry about sunblock when I am at the parks. Now if I am sitting at the pool or the beach all day, then I use it all day long.

Happy to have you following along on my Insatgram! And :yay: for single digits!!!

FYI, I had to go back to my TA yesterday to pick up our updated documents and she told me NOT to do the on-line check-in because that will over write the room requests she put in.

Have a great trip!

Have a safe trip!!!!

Good Morning Team August!

How about a QOTD? Not sure if we've talked about this one but who cares we love to talk Disney!:cool1:

Does your family have an arrival day tradition?

We usually fly in mid-morning, get settled, swim, and then hop on the boat to DTD for an early dinner. I like to get to bed early and hit the parks the next morning!:thumbsup2

No family tradition, except we do try to hit MK, but that depends on our arrival time.

Sooooooo.......as some of you might know, my hubby works about one hour away from home and is trying to find a job closer to where we live. He's been with his company now for over 20 years, but he just doesn't want to be on the road for 2 hours when he could be home with us....(Awe....so sweet!)

I wish you guys all the best!!

I know you posted a picture of your family, but can you post it again, so I can be on the look out for you guys. I will post a picture of us tonight when I get home, if I can do it without the kids seeing me.

What time do you guys get into Disney? We should be at the resort no later then 3PM. Our plan is to check-in, freshen up a bit. Get some dinner at the food court and then head to MK for EMH.

FINALLY GOT MY MICKEY MAIL!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

2 weeks to go!!!:hyper:

:cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

So last night MiL phones to say what a nice relaxing weekend at my house it was...ummm, were we at the same house? i'd probably use a 4 letter word too, but not "nice". :) anyhow, she then says they want to take the kids to the biergarten on Sunday night (aug 26) so DH & I can have a date night. My first thought was, but that's Akershus night! Then I realized this is fine, one less character meal is ok. Sooo, cancel Akershus for 4 and book Tokyo Ding for 2, where DH really wanted to eat before I went on a character meal rampage with the ADR's, for 7:50pm. My question is, after this long story, is will we be able to see illuminations while dining? If so, WooHoo! If not, then Woohoo, sushi (either way, I'm at WDW, so it's going to be a woohoo moment!)!

Have fun on your dinner date.

I thought it might be the sunblock, so I tried one we used to use with no issues, and the same thing happened -- sunburn. Also there's not a chance I can go without sunblock at all, even in and out of buildings all day. I can get a sunburn within 15 minutes of being in the sun, so my shoulders, face, arms and tops of feet need definite protection.

I'm sure it will be fine. Here is some extra pixie dust anyhow...pixiedust:pixiedust:

I understand how you feel though....I imagine I would be in the parking lot, car packed and running!:rolleyes1

Sitting in my living room, watching youtube videos of Disney and crying. I have been excited forever but I think it may have officially set in that we are going to Disney soon!
OMG, we are going to DISNEY! :yay::yay::yay::yay::banana::banana::dance3::dance3::cool1::cool1:

QOTD: Any arrival day traditions?

We don't do anything special each time. We normally arrive, check in, go to room, unpack, blah, blah, blah, disney blah... eat, sleep. Nothing much because we usually arrive later in the day..... WAIT, stop everything....

I just realized I have lied to you all!!!:scared1:

I just really realized that we do have a tradition of sorts... We used to stay with my parents at their house, then we started staying on property and since we started on property, my parents have come to see us when we get to our resort. So we visit with my parents as an arrival day tradition. And we are doing it again this trip.

PLEASE accept my most heartfelt apologies for my earlier misinformation to you all. I beg your forgiveness. :worship:

We'll be checking in at BWV around Noon on the 17th, If the room is ready we'll probably get our things settled, grab a light lunch, and then off to MK till maybe 1/2 AM. After midnight, I'll celebrate my birthday for a little while then we can go back and crash. We're all excited and it's hard to believe we're a week out!

Is anyone else getting breakfast items for in the room? We usually do as it saves time and doesn't use up our credits.
Normally we are in a DVC studio. This time we have a full kitchen in the cabins. I am trying to make a list but I don't want to get too much or we'll end up wasting half of it I'm sure. I'm thinking breakfast sandwiches, juice and water, snacks, pancake mix?? Just simple stuff. We'll be stopping on the way to Disney from Universal to get some grocery items.

As for the Universal portion... Ideally I would like to bring things in the suitcase for a quick bite in the mornings. The Universal part of our trip is where we are really watching our spending. We're there for 3 days and I am hoping to eat in the room for breakfast (juice boxes, breakfast bars), have a counter service lunch, and go offsite for dinner. I had 3 onsite restaurants booked but cancelled. We can zip offsite in the car and pay half as much to go to Sweet Tomatoes or get pizza for those few days. Originally I had 500 budgetd for 3 lunches and 2 dinners. I wasn't happy spending that much so we're going to try to keep it around 300. I think we can as long as I bring some snacks and breakfasty things for the room and we go offsite for dinner.

Yes we definitely will be bringing breaksfast items for the room. My kids don't really care for the food court breakfast and I would prefer to save the CS credits for meals in the parks or DTD.

The biggest plus for me though is the fact that they can eat while getting ready in the morning instead of having to stop as soon as we enter the park.:rolleyes1

BTW, I think your very smart to go offsite while at Universal, that is a big money saver. :thumbsup2
