****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

Just wanted to say hello from MN - North St Paul..... 6 days left :). :)

Hello and welcome!

Also, question.........What is everyone doing with their animals?

I have a maltese/poodle that will be 8 months when we leave. Luckily my parents are taking him. I fully expect him to be totally spoiled and have to start some training with him again but at least I know he will be loved.

We have hermit crabs, do you know how hard it is finding a hermit crab sitter:confused3

My classroom once had hermit crabs. Who would have thought they were harder to find babysitters for than rodents but they are.

Does anyone else stress over possible hurricanes?

Not really but I'm certainly packing some ponchos. We were on a cruise (sadly not disney) last year during Irene. We hit the bahamas the day before Irene did. In Aug 2008 it went to a tropical storm status and we had 4 or 5 days with no sun but the parks were empty. Disney opened some parks early in anticipation of closing early but only certain rides were ever closed.

My Aunt always had a yorkie and a maltese. Great combination!

Sorry guys, I haven't been on here lately.......

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had to put my loving Rusty kitty down on Friday morning. He was 14 years old and a diabetic so for him to live as long as he did was good. He was there when Victoria was a baby and used to sleep in her crib. He saw me through my abusive marriage, moving, my dad's death, my memere's death, meeting Peter and trying the squeeze his way in between Peter and I for his spot in bed. I loved him so so much!

I am sorry for your loss. It is hard when we lose our furry family members. :grouphug:

Also, question.........What is everyone doing with their animals?

My dog is not quite 8 months yet but will be when we go. He is a big baby with seperation anxiety. We left him at the kennel the night of the bachelor/bachelorette & he was so nervous he did not want them anywhere near him. He has never acted like that before.

I was going to put him in the kennel if i had too but thankfully my brother is going to stay here, bear loves him as much as he loves us. He looked after him when my husband had emergency surgery in march so he got to know him well. He gets super excited when he visits so i know he will be ok.

12 days is a long time, he would feel abandoned. At least at home he will know we are coming back.

I too use a pet sitter. My dog did kennels even a doggy day care one that was expensive and did not do well. They told me she didn't want to eat or leave her kennel. They had to force her out. :( Also she has free run of the house all day I felt so bad having her in a kennel all day. So I tried out a pet sitter last year when I had to take my husband up to Mayo clinic and its been great. She comes twice a day on full days we're gone and just once a day on the day we leave and day we come home. She is more expensive than what some of you other girls said but about the same as a kennel. 25 for two visits and 15 for 1. I can add visits for another 10 dollars each. But each visit is 30 minutes and she feeds the dog, checks on the cats, scoops kitty litter and brings in the mail. So its like a whole house sitting service. She's also available on short notice which is nice. Actually she is the 2nd one we've had. The first girl I LOVED she wrote a daily 'newsletter' and gave a full report of everything she and the doggy did, but that lady decided to go back to school and shut her business down and recommended this other lady. Who is really sweet and nice and Ginger likes her but she doesn't send me a report and isn't good at texting me after her visits. She and her husband own their own resturant in town too so she's pretty busy so I guess I understand. But again she does a good job. I thought about switching to a new person this time around but I don't think I wan to try someone new for a week long vacation.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :( We lost my furbaby to kidney failure about 2months ago. DH wants to get another pet but I've been putting it off since I didn't think it was fair to an animal to leave for so long right after bringing it home.

By this time next week I will be at the airport waiting for the flight to go to Disney!!!

Sorry for your loss. Our pets hold a special place in our lives that only other pet owners understand. We have a beagle who now is on meds. for 2 compressed discs in her back. Thankfully, Dr. says with rest (not likely-she's a beagle) she should be okay just in time for our vacay and a stay at the kennel, which she hates!

I am so so sorry to hear about the loss of your cat. I know that feeling all too well. I still cry over the loss of my Jack and it was almost 3 years ago now. There's nothing I can say to make the pain go away but the only thing that made me at peace was knowing he had a wonderful life because of me, which I'm sure can be said for yours too.

Ughhhh. I get like that just before the trip. I am absolutely fine when I get there but get really worried about things before I go. I'm also a pretty nervous flyer the last few years. The doctor usually writes me a prescription for the flight there and back. It doesn't knock me out but it takes away that pit of fear in my stomach.

As a fellow queen of anxiety, I can only recommend lists. Write down what you need to do and what you are worried about and check things off one at a time. I find it helps to stop it all from swirling around in my brain at 3 o'clock in the morning.

Oh and I forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off to get a pedi(my treat to myself, I had to give DH one last night since he couldnt get there. I cant spend a week looking at ugly man feet:lmao: I must finish cleaning and packing. We leave friday but I would like everything ready to go tomorrow. I need to take a few minutes later to clean my car out too.

The Yorkie drives the Maltese crazy! I'm sure it has more to do with her being a puppy than the breed though.
