****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

Just want to pop in and say hi to everyone. I haven't been on the boards lately too much, but we got some news from Victoria's doctor on Friday that kind of thrown us for a loop. The doctor suspects Victoria has Polycystic ovarian syndrome. The are referring her to the endocrinologist down in Portland and the appointment will be AFTER we come back. I know this isn't a death sentence and the severity of the condition will determine the treatment plan, but it's just another thing my poor 14 year old has to deal with. She's been sick all her life and it breaks my heart when she asks my why can't she be like everyone else. It's hard to console her when I'm thinking the same exact thing!

THIS, MY FRIENDS, IS WHY WE GO TO DISNEY WHEN WE CAN!!! WE ARE ALL HAPPY AND HEALTHY THERE....EVEN FOR A SHORT TIME! :goodvibes

Sending cyber hugs and pixie dust to you and your DD!pixiedust::hug: I can't wait to get in my Disney bubble also!:cloud9:

My heart goes out to you and especially your DD, I couldn't image what to say to either one of my DDs if they asked that same question to me. Disney is the best medicine for your DD, she will have so much fun and hopefully will forget her troubles for at least a little while. Hope everything turns out well for her and it is not as serious as anyone may think it is. I'm also sending you pixiedust: for your entire family, in hopes that you all have the most wonderful trip ever :goodvibes.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I would be heartbroken as a mom to have my dd ask that as well.:(
Give her a hug from all of us.

I'm so sorry to hear that. That must be so hard for her and your whole family. I'm sending a hug your way!

What to do tomorrow night? Help us decide!
We will unpack, swim for a bit, then....
A: Head to DTD for dinner at Earl of Sandwich
B: Head to Epcot for Illuminations
C: Head to BLT for the TOWL to see Wishes
D: Fantasmic!
E: Relax at pool to be ready for 8 am rope drop at AK Wed.

Depending on what time you are getting in and where you are staying, I would opt for b, c, or d.

Oh help...I just posted on the disabilities forum but I'm not sure how many of ya visit over there.

Ian has been having some GI issues that docs initially thought was Chron's. Another round of endoscopy/colonoscopy show no inflammatory disease BUT he does have lactose/sucrose and maltose intolerance.

I have never heard of any of these except for the lactose intolerance, we don't see the GI doc until Sept and his peditrician says to watch labels and eliminate as much of those from his diet as possible.

From what I have Googled, that seems like just about everything! Do any of you happen to have any experience with this? I wandered around the store reading labels and everything seems to have maltodextrin and sugars! I bought a bunch of organic and gluten-free foods to try out but boy are they expensive!

What about the restaurants? He LOVES his mickey waffles...do they have gluten-free ones? Do they taste the same? Thanks for any input, I'm really kind of at a loss right now as to what he should be eating.

I don't have anything helpful to share with you, just wanted to let you know I'll be thinking of you and your DS and sending some pixie dust.

Lab results came in and my levels are at a 2.5 which couldn't be more perfect!! I guess adjusting the medicine and my diet totally worked... thank goodness!! But I literally left there and haven't stopped since. I had all sorts of stuff that I hadn't done since I just wasn't sure and didn't want to jinx myself! Now, I have 4 bags packed to check, 2 carry-ons and a whole bunch more to grab and pack tomorrow. I've never had to pack for such a large trip and there's so much to bring!!! Oh well, it's so worth it! 36 more hours and I'll be in Florida on the ME!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! The pixie dust definitely worked!

:banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

We do 1900 PF every year. It's one of the best character meals on site in our opinion. I've never seen the step family in the parks and they really put on a terrific show. They never come out of character and it's absolutely hysterical! It is one of the more expensive meals so if you are on the dining plan, it gives you a good value for your meal credit as well.

Whatever you decide I'm sure you will have a terrific time!

Exactly 2 weeks from today we depart on our journey. 8 more working days!
Why is time moving so slowly now????? :sad2::rolleyes::sad2::rolleyes:

We saw the step family in MK last year by Peter Pan. There was hardly anyone in line. We also saw Peter Pan there earlier the same day.

I have this nagging feeling (with how my year has been going) that I won't be getting on the plane Friday or will have to come back early. My uncle is in the hospital (hasn't been doing well for months) with a collapsed lung and a biopsy came back positive for lung cancer.

I just wanted to say while I don't have PCOS the doctor thought I did and its just controlled with birth control pills and/or metformin and/or weight loss. I started birth control pills when i was 16 for that reason. Later when we first started trying I was no longer on birth control pills so they put me on metformin. However then they did an ultrasound and saw no evidence of PCOS my bloodwork and painful periods (i literally fainted from cramps pain each month) pointed to that but that wasn't the case. Losing weight also helped alleviate my symptoms as well. Hope all goes well and if she does have PCOS hopefully the addition of birth control pills and/or metformin will have her feeling good soon. :)

Hugs and prayers to you my friend:hug: I hope you guys have an amazing trip !!

Your test worked out just great! Nice to see another husband on the team.

I'm charging my old 2nd gen touch now you got me wondering if I will notice it being slow. Also, for everyone planing on using wifi in the paks as far as I know so far only MK has wifi. Disney does plan to have the rest of the parks hooked up by the year end though.

When I was in AK last year I found a stray wifi single but it was locked. There was also one in Spaceship earth that did work.

Nope it worked just fine just take a look at my first quote in this multy quote reply.

Hi Lizzy! I said hi and welcomed you to the team after your first post on this thread but we travel so fast in this corner of the Dis I can easily see how you missed it.

I think it's because some people insist on doing a whole buch of multi quotes. ;)

Star packing! Wow what stars are you bringing with you? I'd bring Ashley Eckstein and Stacy J. Aswad.

OK, this is now my third time quoting you in this one multi quote to tell you it worked. What will it take to convince you? It worked already! For "nothing really to see here" you and I sure dragged this out eh? ;)

OK. Got it. Looks like it works from my phone. Now to test the one on DW's phone.

So sorry to hear that your DD has another thing to deal with. It's hard enough being a kid/teen without having to deal with health issues.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15. I ended up in the hospital while working in the kitchen at a sleep away camp in NH. That is when I was diagnosed. Needless to say my parents were frantic and I can only imagine the frightful ride they had while driving to NH to be with me. All that aside, I've been living with the disease all of my life. I was even told, when I was in my early 20's, that it would be next to impossible to have children as I rarely ovulated due to the amount of cysts present on my ovaries. Needless to say, here I am with two healthy and happy young adults as children today. PCOS is an annoying condition to have to deal with but it's manageable. Believe it or not, 1 in 10 women of childbearing age are afflicted with it. In this case your DD is not alone and I would bet that one of her schoolmates have it as well.

I hope you and your family have a magical trip and you can all escape from reality for a while while you are there. DW is the best medicine for just about anything!

Thats great you were able to catch them in the parks! In all the times we have gone the only place we ever saw them was at a character meal. I have seen Peter Pan by the ride as well. My DD was around 6 at the time and was very worried that Tink wasn't around with him! She talked about it all day until we went to the fireworks and saw her flying from the castle. She was relieved to see she was ok. Too cute!

I hope everything works out and you can still make your trip. I never fully relax until we are on the ground having arrived in Orlando. It's amazing how life throws us so many hardballs. I guess that's one of the reasons why we enjoy our time at DW so much. Its always so magical and we are able to forget our worries while there. Sending you some pixie dust. :tink:

That goes to everyone ---- thank you for wishing us luck in our upcoming battle.:goodvibes

I do have some good news....(amazing, huh?) I GOT MY YELLOW MAGICAL EXPRESS luggage tags today!!!! I know you all kept saying I didn't need them, but I feel SO MUCH BETTER having them on the luggage. :cool1:

I am so sorry. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I lost my Dad to cancer (which went from lungs to bones to his brain) in 2010, so I can empathize more than you know. Hang in there.

As someone who has been sick off & on my whole life too i completely understand how she is feeling. I started to get some answers when i was 23 finally & had 3 major surgeries since then. I was told my ppl double my age 9at the time) don't go through what i already went through. It is horrible on the psyche, especially for a teenager. I really hope it isn't that. Good luck!

I vote for 1900 also! I thought that the food was great and the interaction is spot on! I also have never seen the step family in the parks. If you are on the dining plan, it is also a better bang for your buck!

Thanks everyone for all your feedback! I'm sticking with 1900 Park Fare and am giving up Tusker House.

Anyone need an 8:15am Tusker House ADR on Aug 28th?

So frustrated. I spent a LOT of time last week shopping for rolling backpacks for my kids. They came in today.
88470_44_1

My DD was upset with me because I ended up buying the wrong color somehow. Then they also pointed out there is no water bottle holder - which was yet another thing I missed somehow.

I think I will have to just send them back.

Now I don't know what bags to order. These were expensive enough - $55 a bag but I bought them because of the Jansport lifetime guarantee. My kids are not impressed not having a spot for their water bottles though....and to be honest, I'm not happy with that either. Don't know HOW I missed that when I was shopping!

I really don't want to spend more than $50 or so. Last time I spent only $30 each but there just aren't any good sales :( The guarantee is also important to me.

I think I will end up with this Lands End backpack. Just bites that it's $70!!! Double the cost of what we paid 2 yrs ago as there isn't a good sale yet.

Does it have to be on wheels? My DS has a Swiss Gear backpack from Target (similar to this http://www.target.com/p/swiss-gear-grey-backpack-swg-daisy-chain-gry-19-3x15x5-9/-/A-14024009) and it's worked great. It was way more than I've ever paid for a backpack before, but now that he's older it's not like he needs a new one with a new character every year. This one lasted all through middle school and still looks almost new. So it'll be going to high school with him :)

So my Disney anxiety kicks in, I check and double check our ADR online. On our arrival night, we called and got a res at T-Rex since are planning to chill out on arrival day. Well, there is a res just open up for Chef Mickey at 8pm. So I took it but now not sure if it was a good idea. I like the idea of having the kids dine with the mouse and his friends the first night. (or maybe I just cant wait till the next morning) I am not sure if it was a good idea for 8pm ressie since we are planning for rope drop the next day.
what do you think? I cant seem to make up my mind and DH just likes "Oh, whatever you want Honey, it is fine with me!:furious:" He should know better that I never know what I want 100% sure. hahhaa :dance3:
