***Official August 2010 Thread!! Come Join Us In The Countdown!*****

I once made a lime green Mickey head DISboards flag to hang from our balcony at Saratoga, but we won't have a balcony at Pop, so I have no idea what to do with the flag. :confused3

Hang it inside in your window. This way everyone will see it and no one can take it. :thumbsup2

oh woops! I guess I didn't get the memo... I packed 2 days ago! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wow, that's great. I'm still planning and tweaking ADRs.
:lmao:I keep a bag packed with WDW necessities. It's nutty I know but it saves time having it all in one place. Then all I have to do is put the clothes in.

30 days to go!:cool1:

And I almost blew the surprise yesterday. I've been planning this trip for a year and keeping it a surprise for DD. Yesterday, DD had a dentist appointment. They wanted to put sealants on DD's 6 yr molars so I had to make an appointment to come back. When we were standing at the reception desk to set up the appointment, DD was standing slightly behind me and playing with a toy they have on the wall. The receptionist tells me "If you want Dr. Scott, the first appointment we have is Tuesday, August 17." Without thinking, I answered "We'll be on vacation then." I hoped that DD wasn't paying attention and didn't hear, but as we left the office she asked me "where are we going on vacation?" I answered, "oh, just to grandma and grandpa's." I could tell she was really disappointed. Which of course she would be since grandma and grandpa live just 2 hours away and we go to their house several times during the course of the summer. But I'm afraid I may have aroused some suspicions.

My daughter packed her clothers this morning. I'm so glad she has ***so*** many clothes... otherwise she would stink for a few days here and there for the next month!! :rotfl:

Anybody else obsessing over all the details popcorn::

Yes absolutely! This is my life for the next 3 weeks. :surfweb:

Is there anything else we should be doing? :rolleyes1

Totally obsessing! Actually had a dream last night about our trip! :cloud9::love: Can't wait!

Thought I was the only crazy person who had a dream about the trip! Welcome to the club--and thank you for making me feel like I haven't lost my mind!! :lmao:

:banana:Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

It really is! I'm so addicted to Disney it's not funny. DH doesn't get it:confused3, but atleast my DSs, sister and fellow DISers do

I'm doubly excited for this trip because I'm also an overly obsessed HP fan and will be spending 1 day at WWOHP!!! :woohoo:

DD 14 and I will be at POP in just 1month and 2 days....Aug.17-24....arrival date may still change if i can change my plane ressies without too much trouble.
Hope to see everyone who'll be @ POP...we'll have our LGMH on us somewhere....camera bag or pocketbook/backpack !!!!:thumbsup2

I'll have to come up with a way to hang it so the mousekeepers don't get upset. I heard they don't like things taped to windows and walls and they will charge you a cleaning fee if you put window chalk on the windows (like we do on the car windows)

I actually have a very old American Tourister hard sided train case (think 70's) with a lock on it. I have kept it packed with toiletries that I just have to keep updated as things expire or get used up. I've been keeping it up since about 1978! All I need to do to get ready for ANY trip is add medications, throw in the Mary Kay, do a quick check and go. When I was growing up, we had a beach condo, I kept clothes there, so anytime we wanted to go away for the weekend, I'd grab my train case and go. The bummer is I can't fly with it anymore... and it fit under the seat perfectly. The lock isn't TSA approved and I fear if I left it unlocked, and the dial got turned accidentally, the TSA might break the lock and I'd never be able to replace that beloved train case. Its in perfect condition after all these years. Since I keep the staples in there, I know I can't accidentally forget anything from tweezers, to bandaids to sensitive teeth toothpaste.

I also started keeping a large canvas boatbag in my closet with the ponchos, water spritzers, etc., so I don't have to go hunting all over for them when I'm getting ready to pack.

17 days to go for us!!! I'm getting so excited....our 2nd trip to the World, last one was 4 years ago
We are also going to that "other" park in Orlando, since kids are a bit older and both major Harry Potter fans.:guilty:

Anyway, is anyone else still doing planning?? I've made all my ADR's, and know which parks we're going to each day, but still planning the nitty gritty stuff. I tend to be a little OCD (ok, maybe alot), so I guess I'll be planning even in the car on the way there!

Here's to seeing all you fellow Dis-ers!

You could get those suction cup hook things.

we'll be at the Pop the 11th through the 19th, so our time will overlap. I'll be with my lime green Mickey's. :dance3:

Oooooh those suction cup thingies:goodvibes... I didn't think of that!! I just might try that. I guess the craft store would have nice big suction cups? What do you think? Michael's or AC Moore? Maybe Joann Fabric and Crafts?:confused3

Yes to all those places. I've also seen them Wal-mart, the dollar type stores and Hobby Lobby.

You could also just use yarn/string through the holes in the flag and loop them over the hooks in the curtain. If you didn't mind the flag being off center. You definitely only want the flag on one side of the curtain so you can open and close them.

no more planning here, all set and ready to go. Leaving on august 24-sept.1 for trip #10 at PoP Century and free dinning

the flag doesn't have holes in it. I made it with a casing and I have a dowel stick through the casing. I have string attached to either side of the dowel. But for the porch railing, I looped the string around the top rail and pinned it in place with clothes pins (I always bring in my "handy kit"). If I had one large suction cup, I could just hang the center of the string from that. I wouldn't mind it blocking the "view" because there is none!:rotfl:

19 days for us!!!! All our plans are complete but I have been trying daily to move one of our ADR's time back. Not a big deal if no can do but it would be a big wave of pixiedust: if it happens :)

My nitty gritty stuff is getting the camera chip cleared once & for all by taking in about a years worth of developing I haven't gotten around to! I want the whole thing cleared to take tons of pictures. And then to lug the suitcases out of storage & start writing my list of things I want to pack. Oh, & plus I like to type out an itnerary & make note cards of our ADR's since sometimes DH will meet DS & I if we want to RD or go back to the park early to ride stuff before dinner. DS & I go nuts riding "thrill" rides, not DH's cup of tea. He prefers shows & TS's ;)
