***Official August 2010 Thread!! Come Join Us In The Countdown!*****

Here's my current thoughts on ADRs. I'd love advice, critique, etc.!

Sunday: Travel day. We don't know what times our flights will be. JetBlue's prices are very high right now and we're waiting to see which flight will be a decent deal. We may land as early as 9:30am or as late as 6pm. I'm going to hold off on an ADR. We'll either eat at Big River Grille (doesn't take reservations) or have a counter serve meal.

Monday: Dinner at Teppan Edo

Tuesday: Still deciding. Either Norway Princess dinner or maybe Fantasmics dinner? Fantasmics is late for my kids but might be fun.

Wednesday: Hoping to get Albatross Cruise for kids in am. Sleep in a bit as Cruise starts at 9:30am. Dinner at Le Celier.

Thursday: Breakfast at Cape May Cafe. Grown-up only :dinner at Bluezoo.

Friday: Dinner at Garden Grill

Saturday: Likely evening flight.

We probably have one more TS meal, especially if we don't eat at Big River Grille (or choose to not use dining plan to eat there). Thoughts? Maybe move the Princess dinner to a lunch or breakfast and do Fantasmics?

If you want to see Fantasmic!, then the dinner plan is probably the best way to go with the little ones you have. Waiting in line for over an hour would be really hard. ;) I can't do it. :lmao: I would imagine it would tougher on little ones. You will be eating earlier than normal dinner time, just an FYI.

The rest look good! :thumbsup2

How early is earlier than normal? Is Fantasmic! worth keeping the kids up late? Will they be scared or will they like it?

My dinner ADR is 3:50 pm. That is like a late lunch to me.

Fantasmic! does have some scary parts - like the serpent - but there are some pretty cool parts too like when they show movies on water screens. That as neat effect.

We did it the first year, skipped it the second and are doing it this year because DH has some new camera gear. :lmao:

My 8 year old said that your children may think it is too scary.

I think it will be fine if you don't see this year and wait until they are older.

Another August planner here! We are booked from August 20 - 29 at Pop Century. We are celebrating our families first trip, it'll be me, DH, and our 2 boys, age 6 and 4. Can't wait for our first trip!

Please tell your 8 year old thank you for the advice! I'll talk to the kids and my DH and see what they think. We're definitely planning more Disney trips in the future so we don't have to do it this time!

August 21st - 31st, Coronado Springs, Celebrating DH's and mine FIRST trip to Disneyworld!

Aug 11-20 for our 20th wedding anniversary! 2 girls ages 8 and 11 and staying at Port Orleans Riverside for the first time. We're Disney veterans, however.

Count us in. Aug 15-20 POR w/ Free Dining!!!!!

August 13th through the 21st at the Poly. It will be our first stay at the Poly! I just made our ADRs this morning and I am soooo psyched!

First time at Pop Century. There will be four of us. Myself, DH (who's a big guy), DS (9) and DS (7). How cramped will we feel in the beds? Probably will do one kid with me and one with DH. I know the beds are only doubles. Our last trip was at the POR and we had a trundle which gave us more bed space. Do most people just cram in or has anyone ever gotten 2 rooms? Don't know if I would want to spend the extra money. I'm so looking forward to checking out the Pop. Looks great for the kids. Very excited...:cool1:

We'll be there too! August 20 - 29th at Caribbean Beach. It will be ODD's 2nd trip (2007 - when she was 4) and YDD's 1st trip! Can't wait! I am alittle nervous about taking a 2.5 year old. Anyone have any great advice???

We went to DisneyLand with a 16 month old and 3.5 year old (we were in Anaheim for a work conference and brought the kids along). We then did our 1st DisneyWorld trip with a not quite 2 year old and not quite 4 year old (I was 20 weeks pregnant). We've been twice since the baby was born - ages 1, 3, 5 and then 18 months, 3.5, and 5.5. The kids have always done well on the trips!!! When we go in August, the kids will be 2, 4, 6.

We always pack a bag of drinks and snacks (in addition to a diaper bag). Lots of water bottles, boxes of apple juice, sliced apples, raisins, etc. My kids are early risers so we get to the parks early, eat lunch at the park, and then head back to the hotel. The kids swim and have "quiet time" (my older 2 won't nap but we bring a portable DVD player and watch a Disney movie). We have an early-ish dinner and try to get them to bed around their usual bedtime (8-8:30pm). If the kids are getting crabby, we switch gears and do something else. The kids love the pool-time as much as the park time. The pools have free life jackets that you can borrow which is great for the kids. They were able to be pretty independent in the pool (we stayed an arms length away, of course).

The best advice is to plan what you can plan and then be flexible! Make ADRs but don't go too crazy with them. We've learned to appreciate things at Disney that we never would have noticed. I'll never forget the glow my daughter had when we had dinner with "5 princesses!" She was smiling for weeks afterwards! The kids notice the flowers and the topiaries and the magic little touches that are Disney. Enjoy!!!

Booking the bounce back dining made it a little bit easier too! It hasn't been offered yet to the public so we get first dibs!

Having first dibs is pretty cool. :thumbsup2

Congrats on getting all you ADRs. They sound yummy.
