***Official August 2010 Thread!! Come Join Us In The Countdown!*****

I gotta post again just because I'm getting excited now haha. My countdown says we're leaving in 40 days :woohoo:

So much to get done before we go haha, I better get to work on it all pretty soon. I still have touring plans to make, and gotta figure out how many changes of clothes we need etc. etc. etc.

We are leaving in 40 days too!!!
I just finished my index cards with all my ADR numbers and park times... Still waiting for my ME package (stupid USPS for not working today... I am!) and my Disney package.

Thanks for all of the nice comments back about Canobie! haha

We just got back from my cousin's wedding! She had a Cinderella Castle theme. The cake looked like it! It was so great. Also all the tables were Disney themed. "Be Our Guest" played during dinner. :)

Can't wait till August!

We just made our full reservations today! We are so excited. My Husband has been to Disney once before, but this is my son and I's first time. He will be turning seven while there. 9/18/10 to 9/26/10 !!!

we have 30 some days to figure something out! we have ADR for every night we are there, i will go get my schedule and look at it. A dole whip works for me, my family and I love them. I think we are actually going to the parks that the calendar says to avoid :sad2: we always go to the parks with EMH and do our ADR at the parks with EMH that night, and one night we have our ADR at DHS because of fantasmic dinner package....im guessing you think we are dumb for doing this right??? I think i may start a thread and ask people about this, because we are Disney Veterans, have gone 15+ times, every year since i was 8, and since we have been staying on premiese we have almost always gone to the park with EMH that night and did our ADR there and have always got on rides. yes sometimes we skipped things, but always got on....maybe we should change that??? im so confsued now!!! lol

Looks like you've been to Disney more than me. I think I've been there 11 times so far. 5 of those times have been between 1973 and 2000, the last 6 have been since 2000. I have gone once this year, and August will be my 12th time and November of this year will be lucky #13!! We bought DVC in 2007 and have been 6 times just since then. Now... to your question. You park hop.... right? .... we always hop... when we hop.. by that I mean, we go to the least crowded park during the day, then move over to the EMH park later on. Sometimes we have dinner in the EMH park, sometimes not. I'm not too wild about the restaurants at DHS, so I try not to eat there unless its TS. We have the Fantasmic package for our November trip, but its the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so I think it should be less crowded then. If MK has late EMH in the summer, its too late so we don't count that EMH in our plans. No need to be up til anywhere from 1am to 3am! If AK or EPCOT has EMH, I'm there!!

I love doing the open til 3am EMH!!! especially MK! Are you bringing your whole family on the trip? Your DD is the same age as me!! I think we may do what you do and hop like that, see if it works better for us!!

When do you check in, and which resort?

We check in on the 15th (driving down from NY) and are staying at POR.

How does that work, I haven't got any offers for the discounted rate? If I manage to find the deal for $99 how long does that last? Could I order it just days before my trip?

Noelle

I got the $99 deal. I went thru Facebook. If you go to Disney's Photopass page on FB, you can click the link to get the $99 deal. It's been there for a while now (like months) so I'm sure you can wait.

LOL No, my DD22:bride: just moved up to upstate New York. Her husband came back from Iraq and then got off-base housing. We're hoping that with his leave time coming in August, that he'll take her to WDW for her 22nd birthday on August 16th!! They were talking about going to the beach in NC with his family though. This trip it'll just be me, DH and DD8:cutie: We're taking DS18 to Florida Tech for his first Freshman semester and then doing the orientation thing, then heading to Disney on the evening of the 11th. We're returning to Disney for Thanksgiving and then DS18 will be able to join us.

We keep our plans flexible because you never know what will happen. If there's a ride we really want to get to, sometimes we'll change our plans to get a fastpass and return or if we find out about some fun show or something, but generally, unless its REALLY value season, its best to avoid the park expected to be the most crowded. Also, with only DD8 with us, we will probably skip many of the popular rides such as Tower of Terror, Rock n rollercoaster. Heidi's either too small to go on them or its not my kind of ride. I don't do roller coasters or big drops, although I'll do Splash Mt.

Ive been talking with my parents and we may do what your family does and hop to a park without EMH for the day, then over to our ADR which will be at a park with EMH and then spend the evening there. We have never had terrible issues getting on things at parks with EMH, but we want to try your idea and see if its better.

That is an awesome birthday present! Since my birthday is in october, ive never been able to do anything cool since ive always been in school!!

We check in August 14th at the ASMu FS.

Keep an eye open in the parks. We'll all have square tags on, about the size of a 3x5 card with the LGMH, our picture, and lettering in the ears that says "DIS" and "TomH"

Hey guys. Just wanted to apologize for being MIA for the last almost 2 months and not updating the list. I hope someone else was able to copy/paste and work on it. We went on our 1st cruise in April and I came back from that expecting baby number 6. We were ecstatic. Then I had some bleeding and since I have a history of miscarriage I was on bed rest for awhile and too worried to even think about Disney/Vacations, ect. Then the bleeding stopped, but the morning sickness began and I have spent the last 2 months in the bathroom. Ugh. I am 14 weeks now and starting to feel better. We did have to cancel our August trip though because of dh needing to save his time off for the new baby when he/she gets here in December/January. So once 2011 rates come out I'll be booking a week in December. The baby will be almost 1 by then and it won't be too hot.

Anyway, that's what has been going on with me. And again, sorry for my disappearing act. Hope everyone has fun on their vacations!

Congratulations Mommytobree and Family!! :cheer2:

Wow... congradulations! With all those kids, you might want to consider DVC membership! Its great to have the extra space, and not have to pay for the hotel part of the trip each time. You do have annual maintenance dues, but they're much less than what it would cost to book a villa "rack-rate". We love our DVC membership and no matter which kids are coming or how many, there is a villa that meets our needs. Again... congradulations. Glad you're feeling better. We were worried:hug:
