Once the free dining promostion ends, we'll hopefully see a general public room discount. I'm guessing the $59 a night value season rate that everyone seems to be getting PINs for.
We might see something this weekend!

I posted this on the resort board but I thought others may be intrested;

A few days ago I tried to get the ASsp standard room and they only had prefered rooms left So I had to pay the extra 12$ a night. Well today I was looking and the WDW website would let me book 8 nights in a standard but if I wanted any less(5 days) I would have to take the prefered location at an extra 12$. So I called and booked 8 nights in a standard room and the called back and dropped 3 days and it let me keep the standard room. I have no idea why disney/marketing department does this but I just wanted to let others know in case they run into the same problem.

If they were to offer a general public room discount, then if you have a ressie can you just call and request they apply said discount?

And could you please clarify, a room discount is simply for the room and is not tied into having to buy park tickets such as the case with the free dining promotion? Thanks.

Last year at the end of June, a code came out just after the free dining promo ended. It was for both room-only and could also be applied to the room portion of packages. I'm not positive, but I think it was for the deluxe hotels including WL and AKL. I think the rooms @ those resorts (WL and AKL) came out to approx. $140 a night-approx. the same as a moderate resort! We stayed at the YC and our room savings was about $100 per night off the rack rate. It saved us $210 more than the AAA discount was going to My AAA TA was able to apply the code (nixing the AAA code and applying code ZJZ to our pkg).

Hoping for a similar code this year!!!!

We have already reserved AKL for August 17-24 but due to airline prices and flight times we are going to be arriving late on the 16th. We are waiting to see if a general public code comes out like last year. I was thinking we could stay at Pop the first night. I told my husband since we won't be getting in until after midnight we should ask to check in early at AKL because it will actually be the 17th. My other suggestion was sleeping in the airport

Someone may be still sleeping in the room. Check out is 11 am. I think I would do the value. You will have time to rest up and not spend a lot of money. AP discounts came out yesterday for most of the dates Aug 2 to Sept 27. Maybe general public will follow.

Just a heads up. I have a res at Pop 8/1-8/18 and am an AP holder. I could not get a discounted Value room till 8/10 and all they had open was ASsp. The values come out to 72.42 reg and 85.92 pref with the AP discount.

I was just joking about checking in early. I am very sure they don't let you check in THAT early.

Thanks. I checked and there is availability at POP for rack rate and I guess in the whole scheme of things the differences isn't that much. But I am still hoping for a gp code.

That would be great, we already are staying at WL, but are now thinking of coming in a day early. I'm trying to talk my wife into value for the night, but she doesn't want to change resorts

Actually it's not that far-fetched an idea.
I mean.... checking in early that is..... not sleeping at the airport.
What the heck...... you might get lucky and the room allocated to you may have had the family check out early and you may be able to check in. We've actually checked in as early as 10am once..... we just lucked out. We had an early flight that landed at like 9am. We had planned to just let Bell Services hold our bags and then go to breakfast at the parks.... but when we got there they had a room ready. So we settled in, took a quick nap, then headed to the park around noon.
But your best bet would be to book a room at Pop. Check out at 11, let bell services transfer your luggage while you go to the park.

Yes I believe so I believe I read on one of these threads that after free dining ended is when the other codes were released last year!
