Official August 2007 thread

we (me, dh & dd14) are going 8/19/07 - 8/24/07 taking our niece 16 and 2 nephews 10, 12 :cool1: for their 1st trip.

Aug 16-24 For Us ! This Will Be Our 3rd Mid Aug Trip . We're Staying At Asmu, Unless They Announce Free Dining, Then We'll Be At The Poly. Come On Free Dining ! As Far As Crowds, They're Not Bad. And The Weather Is Fun ! Catch A Mid Afternoon Shower Almost Every Day ! Just Make Sure That You Are Not Going Into Ac Before You Dry, Or You'll Freeze Your Buns Off ! Have Fun !

Thanks all for the explanation about free dining. Looks like it doesn't apply to us since we'll be using park tickets that were gifted to us.

We have a one week window in August during our county fair when we can get out of all the kids summer schedules so we are going August 5-12th again this year. Hoping to stay at POR since we have never stayed here but if not we will be back at POP.

We actually like visiting in summer! Heat/humidity and all!

Count us in, too! My mom and myself staying at the AS Movies August 13 - 19. We went in late August last year and it was WONDERFUL! The schools in the south had gone back and as there was talk about Ernesto hitting Florida, that also kept the crowds down (although I have to believe it was Disney magic myself Oh and Florida never did get a direct hit for Ernesto. It went up the coast). It wasn't hot either except the last day or so we were there. With the low crowds we were able to get into all of our ADRs early!

I just put down my deposit for 4 nights at the Caribbean Beach Resort Aug 8-12 for myself and DD. DH didn't want to go so it will just be us! :tink: :dogdance: It is going to be a surprise for her so somehow I have to not say anything to her for 7 months!!!!! I hope I can manage. We just got back from the 10 day DCL Christmas cruise and I was already going through withdrawal so I just had to do something about it!!!!

Does anyone put up door signs at WDW like they do on the cruises? I'd love to start designing some but won't if signs aren't used at the resorts. We stayed at ASM before Christmas two years ago and never saw any so I have no idea.

I am hoping that it will be great weather and fewer crowds. I will make sure to have plenty of water (I always do) and we have some of the little fans that I will make sure we bring too! Can't wait to see the changes to PoTC!!!

If anyone else is going to be there while we are I'd love to get together. It is so much fun meeting folks from the DIS!!!!

We will be there Aug. 19 - 25 (short Trip). We are staying at the Boardwalk. I guess I can't complain because we are going on a 8 days cruise before that. But happy to see the mouse :cheer2:

It could still apply. For people that already have tickets (usually an AP but it could be regular tickets from other sources like you) they book a package with the free dining and only get a one day MYW ticket for each person. You'll have to do the math to see if this works out better for you. It almost always will if your trip is more than a few days.

That's a good tip. We'll have to work it out to see if it's worth it for us if free dining is offered.

We'll be going August 25 to September 2nd, and staying at the Beach Club! Hoping for free dining!

I went to try and start planning my itinerary but they don't have park hours out for August yet :( . Anyone have any suggestions for a good character meal? DD is NOT into Princesses or Pooh.

We're going to do the Garden Grill. My kids are a bit older, and also not into Princesses (obviously!) or Pooh. GG is supposed to have the main (cooler) characters - Mickey, Goofy, etc. Plus the coolness factor of the restaurant rotating. I also like the fact that you sit and get served (although it's still all you can eat), instead of everyone running back and forth to the buffet like most character meals. Plus the fact that it's at lunch (when we're doing it at least) means we can maximize our morning hours hitting rides, then relax when the park is hot and crowded and we're tired.

Thank you. I will definitely keep that in mind as I start to make plans.

It's August for us, too. Don't know exactly when yet (won't find out until May or June), but this will be our 165th trip to the "World", and it's ALWAYS August.

Don't know where yet, either, but it will be at an off-site condo resort. We're really spoiled by those now.

Can't wait to try to start searching for a rental car deal. That was SO much fun last year! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Popsicle - took me a minute to figure out the difference between your two posts - caught the 165th the first time through but throught it was just an exaggeration!

KSDTink - I think you can make a pretty good approximation of the hours, EMH's, etc. for your dates by looking at June and July. There's really no change in hours or EMH dates during starting from mid June through July (except for the obvious 2 days around the 4th). I would guess the EMH's will stay the same, and the hours will be the same as well, with the possible exception that the parks (primarily MK and MGM) may close an hour earlier. The hours will probably really cut back around the 12th since that seems to be the cutoff for "less crowded", but with value season starting earlier this year, that may affect hours too.

If you're planning an ADR right at or before closing at one of those parks, you may need to wait for the exact hours, but otherwise I think you can do most of the planning. Do you subscribe to TGM? I took all the June and July info and approximated it out into August to already try to determine which parks we'll be at each day and we'll be there 2 weeks! No, there's no such thing as too much pre-planning!:rotfl:

We will be making our first trip home and it will be a long one :thumbsup2 We will be on DVC property from July 21 - Aug 12, 2007. I think we will be trying out 3 resorts during our stay. We can't wait. The new Mickey luggage is just waiting for me to pack :rotfl2: It will be me, dh and 3 dsons

There may be a change is crowd levels this year. Many school systems in the south are going back to school later this year.

We'll be staying at Pop this August, but I not sure of our dates yet. My aunt and two cousins from SC will be joining my son and I. Since they will be going to school late August instead of early August, we're finally able to take a vacation together.

We'll be there August 17-25 or August 11-19.

I have my fingers crossed that they will offer free dining again this year.:wizard:

Will be heading to WDW 8/23-9/1 this year staying at All-Star Movies. My wife and I will be taking my parents this year, as it has been 11 years since they have been to WDW, and I surprised them with the trip for Christmas. Paid for the dining plan, as I don't want to chance waiting on the free offer to be available, and I want my ADR's guaranteed. Will also be doing the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's as well. Now I have to get through 7 more months!
