Official AUG 21st Southwest Price Report Thread!

PVD to MCO Feb 5 = $119
MCO to PVD Feb 9 = $130

Not sure if I'm going to book. I still have time, I'm not even sure if we'll be going.

I can book at $129 each way for ANY other dates but winter break - 2/14-2/21. For winter break it becomes $279 each way. Looks like I'll be looking into driving since we are a party of 20 and have a cruise booked!

We just booked at $595 pp r/t. Four of us traveling from Manchester, NH from Feb 14 - 21. Ugh. We had about $450 in ticketless travel funds that brought our flights to just under $2K.

So much for not spending much on this trip! :scared:

Does anyone know the drive time from Jacksonville to Orlando?

It's been a while, but I seem to recall it was around two hours.

Now one word of warning. Check your dates! The Daytona 500 is in Febuary. You DO NOT want to drive that route around the race date. (And that includes the Fri/Sat before really!)

DTW round trips, 2/21-2/28 Wanna-get-away pricing
$505 pp direct ($229 down, $255 back)
$310 pp connecting ($129 down, $139 back)

For comparison purposes:

Northwest is $236 pp RT connecting (plus $30 for first bag, $50 second bag)
and $460 pp direct (plus $30/$50).

After playing the SW waiting game, I was able to book our 3-SW flights for an average of $277.00 pp. It's a little higher than I was hoping for, but our travel dates are carved in stone and I didn't want to take the chance on losing out. I did get the "Wanna Get Away" fares, and all flights are Non-Stop from PVD to Orlando, and then from Orlando home to PVD and Islip (daughter is flying directly back to college). Don't know too much about the chance of getting any refunds IF the fares go down, but I will ask my TA. She was out-of-the-office today, so that is why I booked my own flights. She actually asked the other TA to book her February flight for a cruise, as she was not going to be anywhere near a computer today - LOL! So now, all is booked and January can't come too soon (hopefully we'll be able to get in CSR or POFQ later on, as we had to take POR as it was the only moderate available when we booked a few weeks ago. But, even if not, then I will be happy at POR!

FTR, I fly from PVD too. I'm flying in January. I decided to check Delta's fares from Boston out - $75 cheaper to fly Delta.

I love SW for the convenience of flying from PVD and for the no fee for changes policy, but I'll suck it up and save the $75.

Ours was $129 from MCO to BDL (we only needed to book the trip home).

Sat 1/24 MHT > MCO $155 (connect in BWI)
Sat 1/31 MCO > MHT $144.50 (nonstop)

Normally I hate to spend that much, but I wanted decent flights (and I needed 7 tickets). With all the fuel/airline uncertainty I think SWA will get much more popular.

I did notice that there are fewer flights on our route...another reason I figured I should book.

$291 per person roundtrip from New Orleans to Orlando. I used a Rapid Reward award so it ended up costing us $213.50 per person roundtrip!!! This is quite a bit lower than I was expecting and I didn't think I would be able to use the award but it ended up that our flight out was available. Our trip dates are Feb 21 to Feb 27

MHT - MCO for Feb. 20 & 27th are coming up with only fares available in the "Anytime" catagory. All non-stops are coming up "Unavailable" under "Wanna Get Away". Same thing for the 19th & 26th. I've never seen that happen before... do you think they will release some "Wanna Get Away" rates later?

We are most likely waiting until April vacation, but I was going to move it to February if I could get a good deal. So far that appears to not be the case...

Good luck to everyone else looking - seems like the deals might be harder to find this year. :confused3

I was able to book MCO- BDL on 1/12 for $129 ++ . ($139 total). BUT the flight on the way down... I refuse to pay $162 (plus) . So, I have something book to get home but not to go down, yet.

Where's the logic in that , huh? :rotfl2:

DEN-MCO: $165
MCO-DEN: $149

total $335 w/fees

The outbound rose in price while I was working with options. I panicked and booked RT. I am an idiot. Outbound is a Fri and unlikely to be Dinged. Wah.

That may be because its a prime travel period for President's Weekend/start of Spring Breaks. I encountered the same situation when booking a return into PHL at the end of "Jersey Week" this year; prices were much higher for that weekend. I ended up booking my return flight using the "Anytime" price figuring worst case, I at least have a seat home. Best case, the price drops/Wanna Get Away or Ding fares released and I can switch and get a full refund instead of a credit.

My patience paid off a couple weeks ago when the Wanna Get Away fare was finally released, about $80/pp lower than the Anytime fare. I made the switch and within a day the Wanna Get Away fare had gone up and now is no longer available.

Oh...and the Wanna Get Away fare jumped $20/pp too.

I just booked MCO to Philly for the same price. I've had the trip down there booked for a few months for $148+ and the price hasn't budged since we booked so I was happy with $129 for the return trip. Now to keep watching for something better...

i needed fort lauderdale for a cruise (presidents week)...6 people (only paying for 4 of us the rest is my mom and aunt) are you ready for this $279 each way this is
long island to fort lauderdale. I was like an jerk refreshing the button and got on even before the ding went off and all of the cheaper fare were blocked :sad2: . I am so upset so for my family to go on vacation is costing us $2232.00 just in airfare, the only good thing about this is these fare are totally refundable!!!!

Well, we can come home now. Lucky us, I think...

We got 179pp MCO to GEG for Jan 31. Luckily I had 2 RR tickets, and 81 in credits. So for 4 of us to fly home it will only be 82 each! And that includes all of the taxes & fees, for a total of 328.
